THE Yorkshire Wolds and parts of East Yorkshire should become an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', an MP has told.
Sir Greg Knight MP (East Yorkshire, Conservative) gave his backing to Natural England's campaign in a letter amid Government proposals for new national parks and 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' (AONBs).
Sir Greg said: “It is clear to anyone living in, or visiting our region, that the Yorkshire Wolds and the surrounding area is outstandingly beautiful and this should be designated in law. The Yorkshire Wolds boast numerous characteristics which are of particular significance, including clear chalk streams, special geological features, and unspoiled landscapes which have inspired artists such as David Hockney.
