LAST week I argued the trade union priority for our recovery must be to make work better through campaigning and organising; fighting for better pay and conditions, better rights and safety, and better opportunities and prospects for the people we represent and seek to represent, who do the work that underpins the whole of our society.
Recent trade union events on both sides of the Atlantic have only served to reinforce this point of view.
While the disputes at Amazon in Bessemer and British Gas were fundamentally different, they also reveal the size of the fight facing this generation of trade unionists, and the challenges confronting us at both ends of the organising spectrum.
