Mike Musick wins Southeast District seat on Lakeland commission

LAKELAND — Mike Musick edged Shandale Terrell on Tuesday night to win Lakeland's Southeast District seat in the runoff election.
Musick received 50.7% of the ballots cast for the May 4 runoff. He beat Terrell by a slim margin of 146 votes out of the 10,646 ballots cast, according to the unofficial results posted by Polk County Supervisor of Elections. 
Musick will be sworn into office at the upcoming May 17 City Commission meeting to serve the remaining seven months of former City Commissioner Scott Franklin's term. Franklin resigned last year upon launching his successful campaign for U.S. House District 15. 
"I think the city chose the right candidate," Musick told The Ledger. "I will get to the hard work."
