Three soon-to-be legislators shared their inspirations, ideas and plans at the 2020 Re-Wire Virtual Policy Conference in a panel discussion. It was one of the event’s two panels that introduced members of the Legislature’s incoming freshman class.
The Morning Wire: Keeping you informed on politics, policies, and personalities of Washington State.
In this panel, the Wire welcomed:
Rep. Emily Wicks: 38th LD, House of Representatives
T’wina Nobles: Member-Elect, 28th LD, Senate
Alicia Rule: Member-Elect, 42nd LD, House of Representatives
Starting a political career in the current virtual environment will come with its own challenges and these three discussed how they plan to overcome the hurdles. They shared what inspired them to run for office at this time of their lives and what issues they believe are most important. They discussed how they hope to connect with their fellow legislators and constituents. They also transparently discussed how the coronavirus pandemic — and its related lockdowns — have impacted themselves and their families, as well as their hopes for the future.
