Masks optional but 'highly encouraged' at Nashville public schools this fall

Metro Nashville Public Schools will not require students and staff to wear masks or face coverings this fall but will encourage unvaccinated students and teachers to continue to wear them.
The district announced its COVID-19 protocols for the upcoming school year during Tuesday's Metro Nashville Board of Education meeting. 
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) relaxed its COVID-19 guidance for schools by recommending that vaccinated teachers and students don't need to wear masks inside school buildings.
