WAILUKU — Bail was increased to $10,000 for a man who allegedly pushed a barbecue grill into a store manager, then pushed a police officer to the ground before being arrested Friday in Kihei.
Maverick Lau, 29, of Kahului was charged with second-degree robbery, first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
The manager was setting up the grill in the parking lot of Times Supermarket at 1310 S. Kihei Road when Lau allegedly tried to steal the grill, Deputy Prosecutor Brant Yoshimoto said during Lau’s initial appearance Tuesday in Wailuku District Court.
When the manager grabbed the grill from Lau, he pushed it into her, causing the grill to fall, Yoshimoto said.
