Man, 44, dies after he was hit by a car in Darwen

A man has died following a collision in Darwen.
Police were called around 6pm yesterday (Saturday, June 26) to a report a Renault Clio had collided with a pedestrian in Pole Lane.
Emergency services attended with a 44-year-old man from Darwen found at the scene suffering serious head, chest, abdomen and leg injuries.
He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment but sadly died today (Sunday, June 27).
The driver of the Renault, a 24-year-old man from Blackburn, was initially arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.
He was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
