Three Lubbock police officers placed on leave after shooting back at a man during a vehicle pursuit earlier this month have been cleared to return to duty, according to a police news release issued Wednesday.
The three officers were placed on administrative leave after a July 5 shooting that injured 41-year-old Jerome Garcia, who is facing aggravated assault charges in connection with a separate shooting at a Central Lubbock gas station earlier that night.
"It is important to clarify administrative leave is not an indication of any wrong doing, it merely allows for the investigative and policy review process to take place effectively," according to a police news release. "This process takes place any time there is an officer-involved shooting."
