LEBANON, Tenn - It took one swing for Baylor’s Vito Valincias to show Briarcrest why the Red Raiders bat him cleanup. After laying off two balls, the right-hander obliterated the baseball on the first strike he saw, sending it at least 400 feet and far, far, far above the left field fence. While the game still had four more innings to play, that three-run bomb to make it 7-0 was in many ways the dagger that ended Briarcrest’s season. For the third time in four seasons, the Red Raiders took home the DII-AA state championship.
