L-R: Christopher Perez, Brooke Paye, Mayor Sykes, Candice Balcazar, Hannah Guyer, Kira Little
Thursday, April 15th Mayor Sykes signed a proclamation for the City of Mountain Home in support of April as "Sexual Assault Awareness Month" and Peace over Violence declaring April 28th 2021 as "Denim Day. This is to bring attention to the fact that sexual violence remains a serious issue in our society. They were both instituted to call attention to the misconceptions and misinformation about sexual violence, and the problem that many are disturbingly uninformed about.
It is hoped that with proper education and comprehensive prevention projects, sexual violence and its unfair and traumatizing affects can be prevented.
