Life expectancy gap grows among Black and white Chicagoans during first year of COVID

Chicagoans’ life expectancy fell by nearly two years during the first year of the pandemic — one of the most dramatic single-year declines ever recorded — with Black and Latino residents suffering the steepest decreases, public health officials announced Monday.
