The Record
In a recent letter to the editor, I asked Stockton Unified School District teachers and the union why there was not yet a return-to-school plan. In all fairness, the same needs to be asked of the SUSD Board of Trustees. Ultimately, these seven elected officials are responsible for approving any plan to return to school and also responsible for not having one to date. 
In the hopes of hearing the board discuss plans to return to class, I joined the most recent board meeting via teleconference and was shocked at the level of dysfunctional and unprofessional behavior by every board member. From not allowing board members to speak, to board members speaking out of turn to be heard, to cutting discussion short on how the community can have their voices heard by the board. At times it was chaos with trustees talking over each other – the animosity they have towards each other was on clear display. Getting kids back to the classroom seemed to be the last thing on their minds.
