Lawrence Twp. voters reject two fire levies in special election

Both tax issues help fund the department's $815,000 annual budget.
Stewart said if the two tax issues are not renewed it will be a loss of $370,000.
"That will definitely change our operations," he said.
The issues were the only ones on Tuesday's special election ballot in Stark County.
Asked why the voters rejected the tax issues, Stewart said he believes voters remain upset with township officials for not renewing a contract with North Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department. 
"We tried to renew the contract. We couldn't come to terms," Stewart said.
