Eyewitness weather watchers are up this morning, they are cold as well, temperatures, very low to start the day off. We will start in delaware, where it is 13 at deloress house, she has sunshine out there but she says it is deceptively beautiful. I have to agree, the sunshine s out there but doesnt really warm us up all that much. We will send, go up to the north here at 10 degrees this morning, john jenkins house in perkasie and he has got that sunshine, and then finally lets head down into new jersey down toward the shore this morning, james saying it is 17 e bit of cloud cover but that is 17, very, very, cold. It is just a cold scene in jena cross the entire area, outside right now, from our Plymouth Meeting camera, it just has a cold look to it. You see, the scene coming off of the smokestacks and it is clear and that is what delores was talking about it is deceptive what it looks like outside, waking up, opening up the blinds, and say man looking so sunny, it will be great, we had nice warm weather but then get hit with that cold and wind and realize it is really not that warm at all. Temperatures, for us not just, again in the teens in many spots but down into the Single Digits up in the poconos coming in at two right now, allentown at 12 and then as we head back down toward the shore we are in the mid teen range. Winds are about five to 10 to 15 miles an hour at times, generally out of the north northwest as we kick off this sunday morning, when we have wind and you have very cold temperatures, we know wind chills become a factor and that is what we have here. Philadelphia feels like zero. Allentown at zero. Below zero from lancaster up through reading and into mount pocono as well, it feels like 15 below to kick off the day. That is why up in carbon, monroe we have a wind chill advisory areas like mount pocono, jim thorpe, east stroudberg feels like tell temperature, until about 10 00 d then we will get above. That wind advisory criteria and that means our wind chills will probably be more likely maybe even still in the Single Digits below zero but wont be in that teen range below zero. Future weather, thinks our american model gfs shows us tomorrow in the evening this is when we will start this at machine at 10 00 oclock starting to see a few flurries , in the poconos. Here comes our cold front approaching us by 10 00 oclock on tuesday morning, so, our drive to work , school, on tuesday morning, maybe a few snowflakes out there, and then it will continue to push through the region as we head in the afternoon, this is at 5 00 oclock on tuesday we will see snow showers setting up there and then once we get late in the day on tuesday and then wednesday morning it looks like it will finally clear the coastline and we will clear things out with High Pressure moving back into control as we get toward end of the wednesday and thursday. We have a quick moving Alberta Clipper system, limited moisture witt, overall light accumulation, right now, anyway, it looks like philadelphia area may be in the one to 2inch range at the most, could see locally higher amounts of that as we head north in the Lehigh Valley and poconos. Seven day forecast for us 26 degrees today, 31 tomorrow, here comes our clipper system tuesday and wednesday, our snow chance, 36 on tuesday, 29 for us on wednesday, and then in the sunshine it does return , arctic High Pressure sets up thursday with a high of 32 but we could be backup in the 40s by friday and weekend. Up and down there. Roller coaster ride. Thanks, matt. 7 45. Time to check road and highways. Lets go over to matthew work mister in the cbs3 Traffic Center. Good morning, matthew. Good morning, jan. And still to come this morning, right here on cbs3 Eyewitness News a new coalition is saving lives of healthy pets, animal advocate Carroll Erickson explains how it works and who is behind it, when Eyewitness News, continues stay with time for the pet project with animal advocate Carroll Erickson and two special gets from the sp. C. A, we have some guest is here this morning. We have an exciting announcement to make, and it was announced this week, city hall, and i know you were there. Yep. And so many other leaders in the animal community, in philadelphia, because, for the first time, philadelphia is designated and it is going to be working toward this goal to be a no kill city, for animals so this is a huge coalition, it was announced on wednesday morning at city hall, the mayor was there and goal, to end killing of the healthy treatable dogs and cats that end up at city shelters and dont make it out alive, for space, mostly. So this coalition is partnership between pennsylvania spca, act philly, the city Animal Shelter and paws, the philadelphia Animal Welfare society. This is just an exciting project to get done, it is high time, it would be the states very first, no meal city of philadelphia is going on this path. Yes. It is a important time in our city, i think. What better way to get then there to collaborate with other Animal Welfare leaders in the city. That is only way we will do it , is work together. That is how it works. There is a new job, being put out there, how does that keep animal a lives. It is actually going to be stationed at, the open in take shelter act philly. There will be a help desk. What that means is if somebody is running into issues with their pet whether it is their pets health, they have something going on whether it is a behavior issue, they can call, we can help get them to the right place, and get resource toss keep animals out of the shelter in the first place. Because, in place, all ready are a bunch of little paws, lets put it and new we will Start Connecting these, to veterinary care, and, oh, my goodness, low Cost Services , behavioral problems can ab dressed so that we can sort of, spread this out i guess is the goal. Yes, exactly. In a way, yes, coming together to spread out. So, you know, we will do that. We will have a priority, you know, philadelphias animals so making sure that when act philly is full that all of these organizations who sign on get in line, get over there and pull the animals out of there so they do not to have make tough decisions. Because we have these numbers that are staggering, it was in 2005 that act, city Animal Shelter, only one animal out of 10 would get out alive. Heart breaking. That has changed to 82 percent get out alive now but were going for hundred percent of these healthy, treatable, manageable animals to get out alive. I think that, unfortunately just the way of the world there is always going to be animals that will just not be safe to place or they may ultimately be too sick to go into a home and not recoverable but everyone else we want to make sure if they are treatable and they are healthy, and they are loving, and there are so many of them, that we want to make sure that they get in the home. And one of the number one things before we show a couple other adoptable animals and talk about king, it is keeping animals, in their home originally because often people want to but they just dont have that extra 100, 150dollar or xy z. Hopefully this coalition, no Kill Coalition in philadelphia will change the lives of, not just the animals in philadelphia but the whole, spirit of how communities work together. Exactly. That is great. Lets show a couple animals, pennsylvania spca, this is cindy, yes. Shes a threeyear old pit mix and happy, friendly girl and just would love to get in the great, great home. She would be wonderful in the a family. Wonderful tap dances in her kennel. She really wants a home and come meet her, see her, shes great. Look at marley, i love her tail. I see some in her tail. Super friendly shepherd mix who came to the pennsylvania spca through humane law and hes very sweet, tolerant, friendly, he does have some ear issues. Somebody who necessary how to take care of an ear infection. That is best hope for that dog. And historya came to the pennsylvania spca victim of cruelty can you imagine someone being cruel to that animal. Shes an absolute angel. Tell me about king, please. King was my favorite dog in the shelter right now. He was surrendered by his owners, unfortunately, you know, they could not take care of him anymore. He is just a yearold. Sweetest guy ever. He loves his toys, his treats, he knows his commands already, and he will be at our fishtown center, today, and really hoping someone will get him so i do not have to because i will, you know, i know you have a track record. Yes. Now i might have a track record for that too. Remember to adopt any pet visit 350 area avenue erie avenue headquarters saturday and sunday 10 to five and monday through friday, 1 00 to 8 00.
