He was on everyones mind before the game, including the players bleep trump laughter cheers and applause stephen i know that seems inappropriate, but, in that players defense, he was just quoting rex tillerson. laughter speaking of our president today, President Trump held a bipartisan meeting on Immigration Reform, focused mainly on reforming our policy of having immigrants. The stakes are high. If the two sides cant find a compromise, the federal government is going to shut down on january 20 or as historians call it, one year too late. laughter now, this meeting was today. Doesnt mean this afternoon right . cheers and applause they had the meeting this afternoon and they did it in kind of an exceptional way. Hadnt seen this before. They held an open meeting and let cameras in for the negotiations. They dont let cameras into the bachelor fantasy suite when theyre engaging in bipartisan negotiations. I mean sex. laughter trump seemed confident that a bipartisan Immigration Solution was possible. Having the democrats in with us is absolutely vital. It should be a bipartisan bill. A bill of love. Stephen and you know what they say, if you love someone, kick them out of the country. laughter if they come back to you, build a wall so they cant get in. But heres the thing last week, trump gave his price for an immigration deal. He wants to end the green card lottery, family immigration, and hes demanding 18 billion for the initial phase of his Mexican Border wall. Wait, no, you said mexico would pay for the wall. It was your thing. You chanted it. Now youve forgotten it . Thats like bon jovi forgetting bad name. By the way, mr. President , you give love a bad name. laughter piano riff applause these people dont. These people know how to love. laughter but, this weekend, trump clarified. Yeah, i believe that mexico will pay for the wall. I have a very Good Relationship with mexico. As you know, were negotiating nafta, well see how that goes. Yes. We will do daca and start on the phase two, which would be comprehensive. I think a lot of people would like to see that. But i think we have to do daca first. Mr. President , you need to be clear. What senator feinstein is talking about, we dont want to be back here two years later. You have to have security, as the secretary would tell you. Thats what she is saying. I showed how much i dont care because to take that show on when i never wanted to showed i cared. I just wanted to take the curse and the pressure off of it. The guys were so excited. I mentioned backstage i wanted to talk to you about this and if youre okay talking about it, i want to ask you about criticism you got on a Golden Globes night because you were wearing a times up pin in support of the times up movement which has been created by many powerful women in hollywood to say that the time is up for the abuse misuse of women both sexually and otherwise not only in hollywood but around the country. Theyve established a fund, a Legal Defense fund for women and men abused in this way. You got criticized for wearing that. Do you know why and do you have a response, anything you want to say about that criticism . Well, first, i want to say i wore it because i do support it. I was, you know look, i was so excited to win but being in that room that night was incredible. I mean, it was powerful. There were incredible voices, and i support it. I support i support 50 50 and 20 20 which just means, you know, people underrepresented women people of color people in the Lgbt Community get leadership positions that they fill all positions they have been deprived of, i completely believe in that. cheers and applause thats why i wore it. There were some things on twitter stephen today. Yeah, i didnt i havent read them. Ive heard about them. Okay, first of all, i have no idea what i did to ali i directed her in a play off broadway. I had nothing but a great time with her total respect for her. I have no idea why she was i dont know. I cant speak for her, i dont know. Others, look, in my l on taking responsibility for things ive done. I have to do that to maintain my well being. I do it whenever i know that there is something wrong or needs to be changed, i make it a point to do it. The things that i heard that were on twitter are not accurate but i completely support people coming out and being able to have a voice because they didnt have a voice for so long. So i dont want to i dont want to, you know, shut them down in any way. Its, i think, a good thing and i support it. Stephen well, is there Something Else that you think some way to have this discussion that isnt in social media . Is there some way to have this conversation that piggy backs on whats happening in social media . Because when accusations happen because for so long accusations were not believed. When accusations happened, in your case, you say this is not an accurate thing for me. Do you have any idea w come to some sense of what the truth is so there can be a s. E. C. Silliation between people who clearly have different views of things . I mean, its a big question but i dont know how to leave or to further this discussion. I mean, like i said, if i you know, i i cant the way i live my life, i cant live if theres restitution to be made. I will make it. So if ive done something wrong i will fix it. I have to. I mean, i think thats how that works. I dont know what else i dont know what else to do. I mean, as far as the bigger issues, you know, how we do it. I look, i really dont have the answers and i think the point of this whole thing is that we listen. You know, there were incredible people talking that night. They had a lot to say and im here to listen and learn and change my perspective where its off, and im completely willing and want to. It was also i just wanted to say, like, i want to be an intern for the campaign, you know, i want to come and just sweep the floors and, you know, help comb the curls out and make sure her hair is always just so. Stephen mmhmm. Of course, the camera guy got me listening intently. Just going, yeah you are take over the world, to be on that stage, to be eloquent and amazing and smell like heaven. laughter it was phenomenal, man. It was crazy town. It was like, this is gods child. On stage, giving us a word. Stephen but how do you feel . Dead inside. laughter stephen while it had been announced, the Golden Globes was the launch of the times up campaign. Times up man. Stephen how did you feel about how the launch of that began . Honestly, it was any first Golden Globes and it was an honor to wear black to walk on that carpet and see so many other people wearing plaque and wearing the pins, i was the beginning of the campaign. I think all of us coming together and saying, look, this whats happening now isnt okay and we want to step up and do something, and i think the fun is us putting our money where our mouths are. Were not just talking about it. Were saying lets do something about it. But for people who have an issue and want to come out and say hey, i was abused and was harassed and i wanted to support it and financially as well. Stephen the Financial Support of a legal fund that both men and women can use who feel theyre powerless and being abused in the workplace is a wonderful thing. Absolutely because you dont want to come forward and go broke having to speak your truth. Some writers have to write. They have no option. I dont know if i say itsw easy, but i dont have a choice in the matter. Its the gift that god gave me so im going to use it. I was watching a different world on nbc as a little black kid in chicago and said whatever that is, i want to be a part of my fifth grade teacher said i enjoy reading your papers lena. I said why . She said because you write the way you speak. I remember thinking, huh thats good. So i said, i like watching tv and i enjoy writing. Im going to put those two things together and make a lot of money doing it. Stephen at seven . Yeah. And then maybe in the back of my mind said ill be the first black woman to win an emmy for writing funny stuff. Stephen good plans to follow. applause tell me about the new show.
