Yeah, thats the thing and it looks like were going to spend a couple hundred hours below freezing by the time it is all said and done. Yes, this is a long hall stretch for our area of some very, very cold air. The kind of cold that weve seen before certainly but when you got it in this kind of a stretch of time and also the time people are trying to get out, its new years, you might be going out for parties or the fireworks you really want to Pay Attention to this because this is going to be something that really has an impact on you. Lets jump you all the way to tomorrow night. Weve got that low disturbance i just showed you on storm scan. That will not have amounted to much by the time we hit tomorrow evening. Saturday is when a disturbance pushes through its a clipper system that helps to not only reinforce the cold but does bring in a light round of snow. This is about 10 00 a. M. , so mid to late morning it could be getting under way but by the time this is all said and done, this is even the most robust version of things in the scenario as far as the modeling ive looked at and even still youre talking maybe up to 3inches. I would say youre primarily looking at a coating to an inch oar two max in any location. Best chance to see the higher end of that total would be in the north and western suburbs. We talked about that light snow on saturday but it will bring fresh powder to the slopes. Look at how it will feel midnight 2018 at the stroke of 12, it will be 12 degrees. Thats the current call anyway and a bitter breeze to make it feel subzero. Take care in this chill. It is no joke and not one day even hits 30 let alone the freezing mark, jan.
