Yesterday, heavy snow and strong winds have made the trip home hard for many. In areas from portland, oregon, to portland, maine there was snow. Bone chilling cold enveloped much of the midwest with windchills dipping below 40 in some places. And a blizzard warning was issued for maine and new hampshire. The snow and wind created hazardous driving conditions with near zero visibility in massachusetts as well. Yeah, the windows get icy and the windshield wipers dont really arent very effective with the ice. The visibility is quite poor, so its been a rough ride already. At bostons Logan Airport blizzard like conditions caused runways to temporary shut down. That delayed more than 240 flights. And the cold weather is going to stick around for a few days. Taking a look at whats happening across the country on tuesday, we do have much drier conditions as we head toward the west coast. Some snow expected down in the midwest and we could see some snow showers as we head towards parts of the great lakes. Parts of the south we could see rain down from houston to louisiana. There will be some very, very cold temperature, but you can tell most of the west is going to be very, very dry. Should not have any travel issues if youre heading to the west. Maybe a few down to the south. Maybe into some areas of the midwest. Cold temperatures in some areas. 35 degrees in seattle and portland, 62 in los angeles. 67 mild for phoenix, but take a look at the midwest. 1 degree in minneapolis. 11 degrees in chicago and 27 degrees in new york city. The warm place to be, miami and orlando with temperatures in the 70s. So if youre in the midwest, stay warm and bundle up because you have a cold couple of days coming your way. Cbs news, denver.
