Army and navy, also going bowling, the black knights are headed to backtoback bowls for the First Time Since 1985. And will face San Diego State december 23 in the armed forces bowl. Navy has a december 28 date, with virginia in the military bowl. And, look, army used to not be in bowl games when they had winning records, they have bigger things on worry about, that comes after they play arnie my navy. Always the most important game. Brian you go up against penny, thats going to be a chore for the defense to handle. As far as virginia, you tip your hat to bronco mendenhall, has them in the bowl game for the first time m a long time. They will have great experiences but this was their game. Snow fell all around the region today including all over south jersey. This is the view from our cape may camera this afternoon, a steady snowfall did not accumulate heavily around on roads earlier today but it was enough to make it quite the story today. In ardmore its beginning to look a lot like christmas. Snow fell steadily as shoppers bundled up, cars and grass grew white. A look at storm scan3 shows thats where the storm is hovering at this point still hugging the Atlantic Coast right now. You can see the band of snow as its moving north but how long will it last . You can see the snow still falling around you. It is a beautiful scene on the sky deck. Id say we have over 3inches of snowfall accumulation here at cbs3 studios. The snow is coming down big flakes continuing to fall and well see the snow continuing over the next couple of hours. Its going to stay steady in nature. Still have a Winter Weather advisory in effect for a large portion of the area. That will expire overnight tonight but snowfall totals from earlier in the day, delmar far southern delaware 8inches and that total from a few hours ago, reading close to five and a half inches ridley park 4inches, vern fielding on the Montgomery County 3inches and philadelphia earlier this afternoon 1. 3. We certainly have more than that. But we still have this Winter Weather advisory in that effect for much of the area. Winter storm warning in effect for Cape May County expiring at 1 00 a. M. Well talk more about when the snow will taper off how much more accumulation we could see and talking about a bitter blast. Reporter natasha about five minutes ago we had a band of snow that came through and there was very visible snow coming down at probably medium to moderate rate. Now, just kind of light snow. In different areas weve been to the snow has been enough that it reminded people this is that time of year but not enough that if you had any plans today that it ruined those plans. Its the first snowfall of the season and a blanket of white has coated all areas of our region from ocean city and vineland new jersey to swarthmore paa and Center City Philadelphia. Im super excited. Like one to 1,050,000. It gets you in the holiday spirit. Reporter it seemed hundreds of people outside city hall in philadelphia agreed packing the outdoor ice rink all day today. I believe it actually helped business because it kind of adds the effect to the Winter Wonderland kind of thing. Reporter but while the fall flakes are a reminder that that time of year is here other its werent looking for the reminder so soon. Not really but you got to take what you is get, right. Reporter right. Now whether you are a fan or not, just remember its been awhile since it last snowed and driving in this can be dangerous so take it slow on the road and be careful. Its kind of slick out there right now. The snow isnt sticking but its about, you know, getting ready to pile up, so its not going to be very good for the cars. Reporter and that last reminder really important. Its a big reason why we stand out here in the cold reminding people that when its snowing like this Road Conditions can be really dangerous but even after the snow stops you have to worry about black ice, sludge on the road. About a quarter to half inch of sludge on the road can easily move a 2ton vehicle. Be careful be safe if youre coming out in these conditions. Now the linc looked like the frozen tundra though with all the snow covering the field today and the fans were treated to a very entertaining game. They need an awakening. Doug said the other day that sometimes winning masks mistakes and you know as well as i do that they got away with a sloppy performance against the bears. And they still won decidedly and they did not play their best against the Dallas Cowboys and they still dominated. So they know that they cannot make the sake mistakes and plus i dont think carson wentz is playing against jared goff. Thats the big billboard. Number one against number two. Both on the field at the same time together but he is a highly competitive guy with so much pride. If there is an extra gear i think were going to see it. Keys to the game is what. Key to the game is get off to a good start. Its not going to be the same atmosphere you had in seattle. Winter is here and storm scan3 showing us were still packed in with that snowfall. Seeing a little bit of break across portions of south jersey but where you see these purple returns that is heavier snow banding from Center City Philadelphia down into the airport, upper chichester down into wilmington as well. Also where we have that that winter storm warning that remains in effect for only Cape May County, seeing some heavier banding from Sea Isle City to cape may down into the delaware beaches and checking in live on our Neighborhood Network you can see that snow coming down. The boards covered with snowfall right now, a pretty neat scene with those big flakes because the temperatures are so near the freezing mark and for tonight, steady evening snow for the next several hours. Really starting to taper off by midnight. See additional accumulation of one to two, maybe 3inches and then the concern turns to refreezing as we head throughout the overnight period as temperatures will be dropping back into the 20s but future weather going to show us the next couple of hours into the 8, 9 oclock hour, steady snow but then around 10 oclock especially i95 corridor points west, that snow really starting to taper off and then midnight for everyone. As we head throughout the overnight period well see decreasing clouds but that will allow temperatures to drop down even cooler so again that concern for refreezing and slippery roads as we head throughout our sunday though nothing but sunshine but it is going to be another chilly day and chilliness is going to be the trend as we head into the next week. Temperatures right now were at 30 in allentown, 29 degrees in reading, 31 in atlantic city. So, all these numbers supportive of snow. Not seeing a lot of mixing. Not expecting a lot of mixing as we head into the next couple hours. There are your wind chill temperatures, feeling like teens in the poconos and also feeling like teens in millville, so overnight tonight, that snow tapering off region wide by midnight then decreasing clouds down to 28 degrees as we head into our sunday, mostly sunny cold and brisk with a westerly wind around 10 to 15. 40 degrees the High Temperature but of course those wind chills will be in the 30s all day long as we head into our monday, 43 degrees, mostly sunny skies. Rain snow shower possible on tuesday. Thats our warmest day before the coldest air of the season arrives into wednesday with highs thats Eyewitness News for now.
