The morris estate, the estate of alfred du pont, a philanthropist, modeled to some extent, after versay. This is breathtaking. We are standing in what is called the long walk, the long vista which goes from the mansion, down into the reflecting pool, behind it the colony and then beyond that the temple of love. Largest french formal gardens in north america. So beautiful. We are an oasis, 300 acres, it is a very special place. Wow. Welcome to the formal dining room of the mansion. Unbelievable. Take a look at that chandelier. Imagine eating dinner here with louie the 16th annmarie antoinette looking down at you that is what alfred du pont and his wife did every night, in math fur they were entertaining a large group or here by themselves. During the hay day during late 20s and 30s there were upward of 50 people he employed here. The du ponts, as people who owned a mansion which showcased the public areas with their art. The drawing room which is their formal reception area. A conservatory which is like a room turned inside out so you are sitting in the garden looking on at beautiful gardens and then you go to what we referred to as the man cave two bowling allies, two billiard tables, hunting trophies, it is a Gentlemens Club that is where the ladies after the reception would sit in the drawing room and men would get downstairs and do what men do. It was a home. We try to present it as a home but it is so much more then just a home. Absolutely. Yes. When he died in 1935, he specified that on the grounds of his estate a Childrens Hospital to be developed and that opened up in 1940 the alfred i du Pont Institute for children. It is now flagship of what is Nemours Childrens Health system. You see the ground here, people see us and we share a campus but a legacy. Yes, so much heart. Meisha johnson for cbs3 Eyewitness News. Absolutely beautiful. Yes, what a day to go there and walk around the ground is today. Totally. Anything you want to do outdoors in the afternoon you are good to go. Youre golden. Heres what you can expect today. Warm sunshine with a high right around 77 degrees, that is well, above average, for this time of the year. Average high for the day is 65 mostly cloudy overnight, low temperature of 60 degrees. We will see more of that patchy fog developing as we head in the overnight hours so likely on monday morning you will be dwelling that on your drivein to work but much of the day on monday should be dry, and our next system moves in monday night into tuesday and that will be bringing us rain or thunderstorm as we head into tuesday afternoon and evening some could be severe, 65 on wednesday behind that storm system with gradual clearing, and we will cool down to 61 on thursday but by next weekend we will be backup to around 70 degrees by saturday, so as i have been saying all morning it wouldnt be surprised me as if october goes down in the record books as a very, very warm act, maybe even one of the these hottest on record. We will see how it plays out. I dont hear too many complaints, i will take it. I know november, about two weeks away. It is close. It does happen. Thanks, chelsea.
