Topping our news, we begin with developing news negotiators for the Hollywood Studios and the Writers Guild of america have reached a tentative agreement to end the strike that has halted nearly all tv and movie script writing. Reporter Marianne Rafferty tells us the deal was announced last night, five months after that walkout began in with three separate but major strike keeping. Thousands of writers, actors and autoworkers on picket lines nationwide. Some could argue the country is looking more like the united strikes of america. The but hope for many could be on the horizon. Sunday night, the Writers Guild of america announced a tentative deal with the alliance of Motion Picture and television producers. Wga officials not yet revealing the specifics, but members have been calling for better pay and job protection from Artificial Intelligence. I love writing. I want to get back to work while Guild Officials say picketing is to stop, the strike is not officially over, citing how the tentative deal must now be approved by wga members. I trust in our leadership and they are very well aware of what this membership needs and wants. Meanwhile, the screen actors guild, which has been on strike for similar reasons since july, has not reached an agreement with major media companies. Members hope the tentative wga deal could rekindle talks. What do we want there . This comes as the United Auto Workers strike enters its 11th day monday. The union is targeting ford General Motors and stellantis, asking for more money, job security and better profit sharing. Union officials recently expanded the strike to now target more than three dozen locations. Well, hundreds of medical providers at Dialysis Centers say they will go on strike this week over what they call unfair labor practices. The protesting for higher wages. But now some of them say they will pass it now, if congress cant come to an agreement, a number of federal programs will stop and so will paychecks for millions of government workers. Theres a push to get the governor to veto a bill that would decriminalize some psychedelic drugs. Opponents of the bill, which narrowly passed the legislature, came the claim that the law would be dangerous. It would decriminalize some things like mushrooms, but it would not legalize the sale of the substances. Governor gavin newsom did sign into law nine bills that support lgbtq plus california says the new laws include a timeline for required lgbt cultural training for Public School staff, as well as the creation of an Advisory Task force. Another new law requires the courts keep any petition for a change of gender or sex identifier by a minor confidential beginning tomorrow , the oakland as play their last six games of the season, and theyre all on the road. After a few days of haze and smoke, the air quality in the bay area is finally getting better. Smoke smoky air gradually improved over the course of the weekend. Some parents of some Young Children say theyve been careful. They were trying to control the exposure to the unhealthy air. It was really, really bad and i have a two year daughter and i take her for walk on a daily basis, but we were not able to get out of it for a couple of days. So it was really bad. I actually just purchased an air filter for her room. The National Weather service says this improvement is largely due to a wind shift that has been pushing out the smoky air coming from Northern California and oregon. Wildfires and while the air has improved here in the bay area, we did speak to an expert who says breathing bad air over the last several days can affect your health. The longer theres exposure to the particulate matter and wildfire smoke, the greater the risk that people with preexisting heart and lung disease will have an exacerbation. Thats who im most concerned about at this point. Now, he says the just because you cant smell the smoke or see it doesnt mean the air quality is good. He does recommend taking precautions when the air quality is poor by not exercising outside, ensuring you do have those air purifiers and keeping your doors and windows closed to prevent any harmful particles from entering your home. Hopefully we have a change in the weather that is still heading in that better air quality direction. Roberta gonzalez has our forecast. We absolutely do, pam. This weekend i had to drive to Southern California. It wasnt until i hit the very tip top of the Tehachapi Mountains that i was able to see the clarity, the big, beautiful blue skies that is how intense the smoke bank has been throughout the entire state of california. And as you can see, weve got good levels now of air quality here in the bay area. A little compromise today will be the south bay, but not by much. Its moderate and it will be improving during the day. Now, its all because of this right here, this area of low pressure. Its big. Its beautiful. Its actually only a large area of low pressure tapping into Atmospheric River conditions. Very unusual, very premature for this time of the year. This is a look at our storm tracker. So under a mostly cloudy sky, the wind direction is rotate today right now kind of all over the place. But its not more of that northerly wind that we experienced yesterday, ushering the smoke into the bay area. We are going to experience more of a southerly flow and thats why it ushers that smoke. Well to the north of the bay area. Now, heres how we are forecasting this system to move into the bay area today. Now not so much. Its going to clip the northern portion of the bay area. Here we are by 8 00 tonight, mostly cloudy skies, raindrops will be heard on the rooftops near the santa rosa area, backing through katahdi into windsor. Also right around, oh, lets say clear lake into middletown and lifting into Mendocino County around the ukiah area with Copious Amounts of precipita ation. It slices through the bay area about this time tomorrow with a few raindrops. Otherwise we clear out by tomorrow afternoon. Now the bottom line is you see that southerly flow that ushers out that haze in the smoke in the bay area, 64 pacifica today, low 70s santa rosa, 73 around hayward backing through san leandro and san lorenzo. The Investigation Continues into the Safety Record of a Charter Bus Company following a deadly crash in upstate new york. Now, the bus was carrying High School Students regency transport station failed five of 15 bus inspections. This year. And because of that, it is labeled an unacceptable operator by the new York Department of transportation. State police say a faulty front tire likely caused that crash. Two adults died. The high schools band director and a retired teacher. Five of the 40 High School Band members suffered critical injuries. An investigation in east oakland after two people were killed in a crash. Ktvu zac sos spoke with neighbors who say crashes are common in the area. We found tboned it just across the street from jimmy thomass home in east oakland. Neighbors rushing to help sunday morning after police say a 25 year old man behind the wheel of a black stolen lexus slammed amd into another lexus with three people inside the impact causing the white car to roll over into antonio mortons yard. Some neighbors were trying to assist a woman to get out and just telling them to wait because of the likelihood that she might have a spinal injury, meaning that the car was tboned. Police say the woman, a 67 year old from antioch and the cars driver, a 64 year old man from richmond, didnt survive. A 48 year old man in the back seat, also from richmond was rushed to the hospital. I didnt see anybody in the black car. Police say the driver of the stolen car in oakland resident was arrested nearby the crash, just the latest neighbors say theyve seen here at holly street and 73rd avenue. This is not the first time, the time right there. The time was the cars are traveling east on 73rd and cars are turning south onto holly street. Oftentimes, they cant see one another. And so it contributes to this type of pattern accident. Morton pointing to the mismatched paint on his home where one car recently crashed into the front porch. Its been struck approximately every 10 to 12 times, he says hes warned the city several times about the problem, but that not enough has been done to address it. Theres a hitch in the Center Divider and what it does is that it disrupts the view of cars that are coming to the intersection. The accident that took place today was a similar type of accident, though the driver in the black car was driving too fast and had the hedge not have been there, he would have been able to see the car from a greater distance and maybe he would have slowed down. We are now hearing from the mother of the woman who was shot to death at an east bay car dealership in a suspected act of Domestic Violence. It happened last week at the toyota dealership in albany near the berkeley border. Investigators say 24 year old alana galen was shot to death while working at her desk in the service center. Police then shot and killed the gunman who relatives say was the father of the victims young son. So now my grandbaby, her seven year old child doesnt have a mother or a father, and thats saddening for me. For real. She says police have told her very little about her daughters killing, and she says that is only adding to her pain. Its going to be hard for me, hard for my family, of course, because she was very much loved by everyone. Everyone loved my daughter and that her son, hes going to need therapy. Im going to need therapy. Well, the family has launched a go fund me to help pay for the little boys therapy costs and his College Education. Little speck of yellow there around the san jose area where we will experience a little bit of haze in the atmosphere until we get a good breeze in later today. 10 to 15 out of the south now, here we go with your temperatures, 48 degrees back in through novato into larkspur, terra, linda into san rafael, otherwise 54 and along the seashore its in the low 50s in livermore now and 57 mild degrees in san jose. And these temperatures are relatively similar to what we experienced yesterday at this time except right there in oakland, emeryville and el cerrito about four degrees cooler than 24 hours ago. Winds are relatively slight, except a bit of a breeze out towards Travis Air Force base. We do have a slight breeze at sfo and under ten at mineta international. Later on this afternoon, when the clouds do thicken north of the Golden Gate Bridge, then you see the precipitation beginning to enter through the back door towards santa rosa. Thank you, sal. A restaurant in cupertino is facing backlash on social media after adding an automatic 18 Service Charge to all tables. Now the owner is being harassed online for that policy. And ktvus Lamonica Peters reports in cupertino with more from the owners, employees and their customers. Regular customers at pho hanoi in cupertino say theyve known about the automatic 18 Service Charge since the policy changed last year. So its either were going to put it in the menu prices or theyre going to make it pretty clear to the consumer where the money was going. The charge is explained on the menu and theres a sign posted near the entrance youre getting top grade meat, the best broth ive ever had. Youre getting a quality meal at. And i think just adding it in it makes it more simple. I think people are kind of wondering what they should do after the bill, and this way its already there. This receipt was recently posted on reddit expressing concern about the restaurants automatic 18 charge for all tables. Thousands of people commented, some questioning why the restaurant would add the tip for serving one person. And the owners have an explanation. Whatever i do only want to serve customers better and keep the good worker, because if i dont pay them well, they have the right to leave my restaurant. Nguyen says. They added the charge last november for and 100 of it is used for staff members. The owners say customers are allowed to ask for it to be removed if they arent satisfied with the service. Still, they believe people online who dont eat at their restaurant are unfairly criticizing them. A lot of people raise it and they come to my restaurant and they yell at my employee and they ask her to close the business, blah, blah, blah. And thats not nice to do that because we are trying to do that because the Service Workers dont have enough pay for the very expensive living in the bay area right now. One of the workers also told me that since the new Service Charge has been in place that he doesnt have to work two jobs anymore. Lamonica were learning new information this morning about a deadly stabbing in berkeley. It happened saturday afternoon on overlook road in the berkeley hills. Ktvu news has learned the suspect is 36 year old jonah roper. Hes accused of killing his 30 year old mother inside her home. Hes beloved. She was kind. She was generous. She was just, you know , an angel of the neighborhood. Witnesses say the suspect then attacked his mothers partner and another person in the neighborhood before stealing a car. Police then arrested that man following a three mile chase that ended at ninth and gilman streets in berkeley. Within minutes, there was like several police cars and all i could see was one man on the ground. I dont think he was resisting. I mean, they had him cuffed on the ground face down, like really quickly. Roper is in Police Custody and is expected to face a number of charges. The two people stabbed and wounded are expected to survive. President biden is set to make a visit to the bay area tomorrow. Hes expected to attend Campaign Events both tomorrow and wednesday. Hes also scheduled to meet with the president s council of advisors on science and technology. That organization develops recommendations on science, technology and innovation policy. The president is scheduled to then head to arizona for an event honoring the legacy of the late senator john mccain. First Lady Jill Biden made several stops in Southern California this weekend to drum up support for her husbands 2024 Reelection Campaign. Officials say the wet start to the year has led to a rise in the mosquito population in california, a newly released Environmental Impact report is giving a chance to weigh in on a proposed multi Million Dollar casino project in santa rosa. Researchers mapped the surface of the asteroid, took samples in late 2020, then waited for the spacecraft to drop off the capsule carrying less than nine ounces of asteroid rocks and soil. Asteroids are the leftover remnants from solar system formation, so theyre a pristine example of planetary Building Blocks and studying them helps us to understand how the earth and all the planets in our solar system were formed. Well, the nearly five month long hollywood Writers Strike may be over soon. The Writers Guild of america has been asking for better pay and job protection from technology and Artificial Intelligence. Union leaders say they may have reached a tentative agreement with studio executives. Ktvu james torres live with us this morning to explain what happens next. Ali starting today, those writers likely wont be on the picket lines anymore, but the strike isnt actually officially over until the Union Membership votes to end it. That means writers arent yet going back to work. Now strike has been ongoing for about five months, nearly tying the longest Writers Strike ever. That happened back in 1988. Union leaders who represent about 11,000 writers, have not yet said what conditions theyve agreed to, but did note this has been a significant step forward. Were hearing from some writers whove spent months on the picket lines who are not only hoping the strike is over, but moving forward. They hope their relationship with Hollywood Studios looks different. Main cautiously optimistic that the studios are actively engaging with us. Its about time weve been out here for 140 days picketing, waiting for them to come back to the table. Opponents of the bill, which narrowly passed the legislature this month, say they believe the law would be dangerous. It would decriminalize some things like mushrooms. It would not legalize, though the sale of those substances. Governor newsom signed into law nine bills that support lgbt plus californians. Those new laws include a timeline for required lgbtq cultural training for Public School staff, as well as the creation of an Advisory Task force. Another new law requires the courts to keep any petition for change of gender or sex identifier by a minor confidence official beginning tomorrow, the oakland as play their last six games of the season and theyre all on the road. Yeah, smoky air gradually improved over the weekend and some parents of Young Children say theyve been careful. And were trying to control all exposure to the bad air. It was really, really bad and i have a two year old daughter and i take her for work on a daily basis, but we were not able to get out of it for a couple of days. So it was really bad. I actually just purchased a air filter for her room. The National Weather Service Reports the improvement is largely due to a wind shift that has been pushing out the smoky air from the wildfires in Northern California and oregon. Well, Health Care Professionals say breathing bad air over the last several days can affect your health. The longer youre theres exposure to the particulate matter and wildfire smoke, the greater the risk that people with preexisting heart and lung disease will have an exacerbation. Thats who im most concerned about at this point. Now, he says just because you cant smell the smoke or see it doesnt mean the air quality is good. And he recommends taking precautions when the air quality is poor by not exercising outside, ensuring that you do have an air purifier and keep your doors and windows closed to prevent any harmful particles from entering your home. And it is a relief to know those changes are now already on the way. Roberta gonzales is going to tell us about changes in the weather that is affecting all of this. Absolutely. A shift in the wind. The Investigation Continues into the Safety Record of a Charter Bus Company following a deadly crash in upstate new york. Now, the bus was carrying High School Students regency Regency Transportation failed five of 15 bus inspections this year. And because of that, its labeled an unacceptable operator by the new York Department of transportation. State police say a faulty front tire likely caused the crash. Two adults died. The high schools band director and a retired teacher, five of the 40 High School Band members suffered critical injuries. An Investigation Continues in east oakland after two people were killed in a crash. Ktvu zac sos spoke with neighbors who say crashes are common in their area. The band he founded just across the street from jimmy thomass home in east oakland. Neighbors rushing to help sunday morning after police say a 25 year old man behind the wheel of a black stolen lexus slammed into another lexus with three people inside the impact causing the white car to roll over into antonio mortons yard. Some neighbors were trying to assist a woman to get out. And i just telling them to wait because of the likelihood that she might have a spinal injury, being that the car was tboned. Police say the woman, a 67 year old from antioch and the cars driver, a 64 year old man from richman, didnt survive. A 48 year old man in the back seat, also from richmond was rushed to the hospital. I didnt see anybody in the black car. Police say the driver of the stolen car in oakland resident was arrested nearby. The crash just the latest. Neighbors say theyve seen here at holly street and 73rd avenue. This is not the first time. The time right there. The time is the cars are traveling east on 73rd and cars are turning south onto holly street. Oftentimes, they cant see one another until it contributes to this type of pattern accident. Morton pointing to the mismatched paint on his home where one car recently crashed into the front porch. Its been struck approximately 10 to 12 times. He says hes warned the city several times about the problem, but that not enough has been done to address it. Theres a hedge in the Center Divider and what it does is that it disrupts the view of cars that are coming to the intersection. Well, the ap blames saudi arabia s decision to cut back on the amount of oil it sends to Global Markets. That has pushed prices higher. Theyve been slashing production since july and will extend the cut through the end of the year. But thats just one piece of the puzzle causing the increase that were seeing. A lot of that has to do with the accentuate circumstances this year. Refinery issues that have been hitting for most of the country in late august, coupled with the fact that oil prices are at their highest level since november of last year, is kind of created this unique peak in the fall that we tend to see in the summer months. It happened saturday afternoon on overlook road in the berkeley hills. Ktvu news has learned the suspect is 36 year old jonah roper. Hes accused of killing a 60 year old mother inside her home. Witnesses say the suspect then attacked his mothers partner and another person in the neighborhood before stealing a car. Police then arrested the suspect following a three mile chase that ended at ninth and gilman streets in berkeley. Within minutes there was like several police cars and all i could see was one man on the ground. I dont think he was resisting. I mean, they had him cuffed on the ground face down, like really quickly. Roper is in Police Custody and is expected to face a number of charges. Two former tiktok employees are suing the company over alleged Racial Discrimination by dance. The Parent Company of tiktok is accused of firing two black employees after they complained about racial discriminate action. Tiktok is not commenting on the lawsuit, but does say it has strong anti discrimination policies. Uc Berkeley Police are reporting a series of armed robberies near the campus over the past month. The latest happened saturday afternoon on warring street near dwight way. Police say a woman was robbed of her tote bag by someone armed with a gun. Police say this was the fifth Armed Robbery or attempted robbery this month in almost all the cases, the robbers immediately took off in a vehicle. Hundreds of people gathered in the sacramento area this weekend for the 17th annual california capital air show. More than 100 aircraft were on display during the two day event, including modern jets, cargo planes and historic military planes. The organizers hope many of the people attending the air show will consider a career in aviation when there are so many ways of becoming a pilot. Its a great job. Its a thrilling job. But this is how what happens when you take away two different lanes here coming into the tunnel . Its not quite backed up into lafayette yet. And hopefully it wont get there. The nearly five month long hollywood Writers Strike may soon be coming to an end. The Writers Guild of america announced this morning theyve reached a tentative agreement with studio executives. All right. A lot of good news and it is reflected on wall street this morning as well. James torres here with some of the details were hearing about. Were you both awake when you got that push alert on your phones . Yes, it came in much later in the evening, didnt it . Well, starting today, those writers likely will not be on the picket lines. But the strike isnt officially over until the Union Membership votes to end it. And that can take up to two weeks. Well, the strike has gone on for about five months now, nearly tying the longest Writers Strike ever. And that was back in 1988. That strike just about eight days longer. Union leaders who represent about 11,000 writers have not yet said what conditions theyve agreed to, but did note this is a significant step forward. So now my grandbaby, her seven year old child doesnt have a mother or a father, and thats saddening for me. For real. Now, she says police have told her very little about her daughters killing and she says that is only adding to her pain. Its going to be hard for me, hard for my family, of course, because she was very much loved by everyone. Everyone loved my daughter and that her son, hes going to need therapy. Well after a few days of haze and smoke, the air quality in the bay area finally getting a little bit better. Smoky air gradually improved over the course of the weekend. Some parents of Young Children say theyve been careful and theyve been trying to control their childrens exposure to that bad air. It was really, really bad. And i have a two year old daughter and i take her for work on a daily basis, but we were not able to get out of it for a couple of days. So it was really bad. I actually just parked, purchased a air filter for her room. The National Weather service says this improvement in air quality is due to a wind shift thats been pushing out the smoky air coming from Northern California and oregon with the wildfires there. Experts say that bad air can have a big impact on your health. The longer theres exposure to the air particulate matter and wildfire smoke, the greater the risk that people with preexisting heart and lung disease will have an exacerbate ation. Thats who im most concerned about at this point. Experts say just because you cant smell smoke or see it doesnt mean the air quality is good. They recommend taking precautions when air quality is poor, including not exercising outdoors and keeping doors and windows closed to prevent harmful particles from entering your home. Traffic is backing up into lafayette now, you can kind of tell its getting busy if your commute is from walnut creek into oakland, you should give yourself extra time as a consequence. Look at the bay bridge. Theres not a lot of traffic there. I think a lot of people come in, use 24 to 580 and then they get to the bay bridge and now its not the same volume. It looks like our cameras going in and out there, but you get the picture. You can use the san mateo bridge to westbound. That looks pretty good. And so is the dumbarton bridge. Police say the suspect was driving a stolen lexus when he slammed into the passenger side of the victims car in east oakland. The crash caused the other car, a white lexus, to roll over. A 64 year old driver and 67 year old passenger were killed. Some neighbors were trying to assist a woman to get out. And i just telling them to wait because of the likelihood that she might have a spinal injury, meaning that the car was tboned, a 48 year old man who was in the back seat of that vehicle, is still in the hospital today. Well you know, they have one crash, ali, and pam, thats been there for a long time. I think theyre having some trouble moving the vehicles. Then you had another two crashes behind that. So three total crashes, westbound, 24 near the tunnel. And now we have a huge backup on 24. In fact, the backup is long. Its not as bad as i thought it would be by now. I thought it would be backed up well into lafayette. But its not. Cars are getting through. But, you know, whats happening is the traffic is here is slowing down just out of camera view. But people are not getting to the bay bridge. You can see that at the bay bridge. Its lighter than usual. A lot of the people who come to the bay bridge are coming from 24 and apparently theyre stuck. So if this is your commute, lets say you drive on the east shore freeway, you get to the bay bridge, you might want to take advantage of whats happening to your benefit here and get on to the bridge soon. San mateo bridge looks okay. No real issues in the south bay. This is a look at the Richmond Bridge and theres a little bit of a backup there as well. 618. Lets bring roberta back in, talking about todays weather. How about better air quality, sal . That sounds great to me, right . Okay so we will have better air quality today, all because of a shift in the wind. And a lot of people have been asking me over the past several days, why did we have such a difficult time forecasting the smoke . And you got to remember this smoke was coming from way over here and along the coast and along the seashore. We do not have weather monitors out over the open waters. So we have to go with the shift in the wind. And thats whats occurring today, is more of a southerly wind. 10 to 20. And that will keep the smoke out of the area. Now this is our live weather camera looking out right now towards the bay bridge where we do have a few clouds down at 3800ft, 56 degrees in San Francisco across the bay right now in elsa, cerrito and alameda and also emeryville, oakland at 57 degrees cooler than that in napa to the north, 52 trivalley and 56 in san jose. These temperatures are much cooler for the most part than yesterday, except right around the peninsula. Up to seven degrees, more mild than 24 hours ago. Windsor under ten at all of our reporting stations around the peninsula right now. We do have a wind up to six Miles Per Hour at sfo. But again, these winds rotating more to the south later today, 10 to 20, and that will push the smoke out of the area. All right. This is a big, beautiful area of low pressure. Its tapping into Atmospheric River conditions. Its a cold front. It is just perfectly aligned with canada, British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. That tail end there is sideswiping, the northwestern corner of the state of california, bringing Copious Amounts of precipitation to eureka all the way into ukiah today. Mendocino county, youre getting up to a couple inches of rain. Look at that right there. Thats some pretty heavy rainfall. Watch the clock tick on by. And this area of low pressure begins to sag. More towards the bay area. So i thought id come down to ground level here, mostly cloudy today, few peeks of sun around the peninsula and south bay. You can see there, partly cloudy, same tri valley. And then as the afternoon progresses, these clouds continue to dig in a southerly direction. Rain begins around the santa rosa area at 8 00 tonight. Rain drops on the rooftops around cotati, sebastopol, guerneville and then it slides all into the central bay overnight and then we will see about a 10th of an inch in accumulation to the north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Only a few one hundredths everywhere else. But with this cold front, cooler temperatures average high this time of the year is 81 degrees. In san jose today forecasting 77 degrees there, just a couple of degrees warmer in morgan hill and in gilroy. How about high 60s napa and sonoma and 74 san mateo. If you take highway 24, finally making progress, they had several crashes along the same stretch between, lets say, the orinda side of the caldecott and oakland. They cleared them and things are getting better. It didnt quite reach lafayette. The backup didnt, but still very slow traffic from orinda. Its better. Heres another thing i want to tell you about 880 trying to make its own noise here with a crash 880 near whipple. Well, theyre clearing that to the shoulder. Look how slow it is. And then southbound 680 at andretti. This crash is on the shoulder and its clearing as well. So were getting improvement now. Its only 632, maybe in an hour or things will be a lot more normal. Well, the price of gas here in the bay area has gone up again. Ktvu is amended. Contenant live in walnut creek this morning to explain why experts believe we are seeing this increase in prices. Amanda well, ali, im sure if you have filled up your tank recently, you have noticed this spike a lot of us are noticing it when we go to fill up at the pump. Now, here were in walnut creek. This is at the speedway express and a gallon of unleaded gasoline is 545 here. Now that means drivers with a 12 gallon tank, theyre going to have to shell out about 65 to fill it up. So why have prices gone up . Well, the ap says saudi arabias decision to cut back on the amount of oil it sends to Global Markets has pushed prices higher. Its been slashing production since july and will extend the cut through the end of the year. But thats just one piece of the puzzle causing this increase that were seeing a lot of that has to do with the extenuating circumstance this year. Refinery issues that have been hitting for most of the country in late august, coupled with the fact that oil prices are at their highest level since november of last year, its kind of created this unique peak in the fall that we tend to see in the summer months, according to triple a, the National Average for a gallon of regular gas today is 3. 84. Now, in california, its 5. 82. And thats more than 0. 50 more than the average we had here a month ago on friday, the states director of the new division of Petroleum Market oversight also put blame on a single isolated trade on californias spot market for gasoline. Thats the internal market where gas is sold on a wholesale level in the state. In a letter to governor gavin newsom, he said the unusual transit action happened on september 15th and it caused the price per gallon to rise by nearly 0. 50. He also criticized refiners for not maintaining enough inventory during refinery outages due to maintenance, saying that under supply has cost californians millions of dollars at the pump. Here in contra costa county, the average in the county is 5. 62. Just after sunrise, construction crews have set up their equipment. Theyve been staging for the past week and a half to prepare for the start of this project. Winter storms, youll recall earlier this year generated giant and destructive waves that destroyed part of the wharf. And the pier you see here that repair job will include the installation of new pilings to support the wharf and replacement of the deck and railings. The work is expected to be complete before the end of next year. What a lovely picture out there. Great to see that theyre finally able to rebuild that wharf. Really nice. I can tell the one at 13 was there for an hour almost and we had another one in the tunnel and then another one in the area. There finally, were getting some improvement. It was backed up almost into lafayette. Its still pretty slow, though, from orinda. If you get out there, youre not used to this. Its like what happened . Well, im telling you. But also 880 southbound at whipple. Theyre clearing a crash there. Theyre making progress on that. But its backed up from 238. Its kind of a parking lot heading south southbound, 680. And andrade, they had a crash there as well. So these crashes, chp got out there and did their best. But now in the backup, theres a bunch of people who are behind schedule. So give yourself plenty of extra time if youre wondering about the bay bridge. Now that the caldecott is clear, people are arriving and it is backed up, its a little behind schedule. Its on the shoulder, but the damage is done. Its pretty slow from 238, 680, the same thing goes. We had a crash at andrade thats been cleared from the lanes, but its still slower than usual. So youre starting off pretty slow. You know whats not slow yet is the south bay commute. You can get on that freeway system in the Silicon Valley without any big delays. Police then arrested him following a three mile chase that ended at ninth and gilman streets in berkeley. I mean, they had him cuffed on the ground face down, like really quickly. The womans son, roper, is in Police Custody and is expected to face a number of charges. The dust and soil comes from a spacecraft that nasa launched back in 2016. It flew to an asteroid, 200 million miles away, collected those samples, then flew back. Its the first time weve ever collected samples from an asteroid. Scientists hope the rocks will help them learn more about the origins of the solar system. Asteroid are the leftover remnants from solar system formation. So theyre a pristine example of planetary Building Blocks and studying them helps us to understand how the earth and all the planets in our solar system were formed. The samples will be taken to the Johnson Space center in texas for further study. The spacecraft that sent those samples down to earth is now headed to another asteroid, a 785 billion jackpot up for grabs in tonights powerball drawing. Its the fourth largest in the games history.
