All right. Heading towards the weekend, your friday looks pretty nice. A little warmer tomorrow. So the trend is going to be for these cooling temperatures to begin to warm. And thats that happens tomorrow. So these are the highs from today. And well below the average. Certainly the coolest day weve seen this week. And then temperatures tomorrow, we can add maybe 4 or 5 degrees to these. So friday and what were looking at is low clouds and fog in the morning for most of us. But a quicker burn off. Right. So today it didnt burn off quickly at all. Today it was lingering throughout much of the day. And so tomorrow, with the quicker burn off, more sunshine , higher temperatures, increased temperatures, so 59 degrees in oakland right now, 60 in napa. Its about where it was last night at this time, which makes sense because its very similar pattern in terms of the fog. Weve got winds that are 21 miles an hour out in fairfield and sfos at 14. So again, typical weather this weekend. And as you look at tomorrow morning, this weekend is going to be kind of a classic summer weekend for the from start to finish from saturday to sunday when we find temperatures on sunday easily getting into the upper 90s, low one hundreds with cool on the coast very warm in the bay hot inland thats saturday and sunday more so and then theres saturday afternoon tomorrow night or tomorrow morning theres the fog footprint. Its all the way in. Its all the way up into the delta and then it burns back and you get this temperature footprint, which looks a heck of a lot like today, but slightly warmer. And then on friday or on saturday, youll notice more warming and blah, blah, blah and so on and so forth. So this is kind of an up and down little roller coaster we have right now. Were on the upswing and then were going to drop down as we go into early next week. But thats sunday, monday or saturday. Sunday, monday looks pretty darn hot, especially inland. Ill see you back here on sunday night. All right, bill, thank you. A preview now of an upcoming sports focus episode. We talked with the cif 2023 male scholar, athlete of the year. Its just one of many titles hes earned. Yeah, hes a graduate of San Ramon Valley high school who is now preparing to start his freshman year at uc davis, playing for the mens water polo team. Cristina rendon has his story. One day i was like, this water polo thing. What is it . You know, i want to i want to check it out. So i was able to sneak over to one of their practices and watch, and that was around the same age that, you know, i really liked superheroes and aquaman being a favorite. And so when i was watching, i was seeing these kids and swimming. Youre used to people just swimming in Straight Lines really fast, right . But in water pool, you need to be super mobile moving around. And so these people were sprinting up and down fast. Theyre getting their up to theyre like theyre out of the water. Theyre throwing the ball 30, 40 miles an hour. I was like, whoa, if i want to be like aquaman, this is what i need to able to do it. So thats kind of where the love started. Ive been playing water polo since i was like seven years old. Ive always been super competitive and ive loved it a bunch. And so id say when i got to the age of around like 13 or 14 years old and i started like playing up with some of the High School Kids and stuff, i started to see like, okay, like playing in college. Thats something thats a possibility for me. What is it about the game that you love . So water polo is a sport. Its a really hard sport. You know, we play in these 25 yard pools. You cant touch the bottom. Youre swimming, fighting for position constantly. And something that i really appreciate about water polo is that compared to a sport like basket ball, for example, where youre super mobile in the water, the ball is going to move much faster than you are. So you need to make sure that youre ready for what position you need to be in by the time the ball gets there. So you need to be thinking ahead. What is your role with the Special Olympics . How did you get involved and what kind of work do you do . So i originally got involved because when i was around in middle school, i was part of this National Charity organization that has a local chapter in my area called boys team charity, and it helps young boys find philanthropies like volunteer with different philanthropies that they can find a niche that they want to make a specific impact in. And so one day i signed up for a Special Olympics, and i absolutely loved it because the kids it was a track and field event and the kids were so competitive, so passionate trash talking each other about whose shoes were faster celebrating every time they finished and i saw these kids and i thought like, wow, like if i want to get to where i want to be as an athlete, i need to have the same confidence and passion that these kids do. And so that inspired me to really help them. And help expand the opportunities they have to compete in sports. What are your goals for your College Career and beyond . What is what are your hopes for the future . Gotcha. So for college, im entering as an Electrical Engineering major and my goal with that, obviously is to complete it. And go become an electrical engineer. And its a tall task, but its something im really excited for because discipline and hard work, anythings possible. And water polo is, of course, the goal. We just went into a new conference, the big west conference, and the goal is for us to go become conference champs and then punch through. And when the ncaa championship, what kind of message would you give to kids who are watching this . Maybe water polo is something theyd like to try or theyre just kind of not sure if they want to try sports in general. Do you have a message for kids . Um, yeah. So like for me, sports or something that its so deeply important to me because a lot of the best friend, my best friends that ive made have come through sports because going and doing hard stuff like that sort of experience brings people together. And on top of it, it teaches you what youre capable of so that when you go want to do other things that arent sports like i want to go be an engineer, it gives me that confidence knowing i can do hard things and it really inspires me and inspiring young man that was Cristina Rendon reporting.
