The county says they will also enter the states read tier that day, meaning Fitness Centers will be limited to 10 capacity in places like bowling alleys will be closed. San joses ms. Cal restaurant had been hanging on, hoping they would have enough business to make it through the winter. But now, this we were trying to find a balance between closing the outside because its too cold in bringing people in. But now we arent able to do that. A woman who was an Office Manager for a Saratoga Investments company is in jail this evening. The investigation began a year ago. Firefighters responded to a fire on big basin way. Authorities say they found janice carlstrom inside tied up and suffering from several injuries. She told investigators she didnt know who started the fire. The Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office later identified her thumbprint on a critical piece of evidence involving the fire. Investigators also uncovered she allegedly stole more than 44,000 from her employer. She was booked into the county jail for charges on arson, embezzlement and forgery. And oakland cruiser watching for hotspots from a fire that broke out at an abandoned building near the embarcadero this morning. Two big sections of the pipe failed but thousands of gallons of water poured into a city owned parking lot. The water creating a massive sinkhole that swallowed two cars. A construction worker is recovering after a gas leak sparked a fire in San Francisco near almost square in the famous painted ladies houses. Pg e says a thirdparty work accidentally struck an underground line. The worker suffered minor injuries in the incident. Area was evacuated, as a precaution and pg e shut off gas to nearby buildings. I think we, in the Restaurant Industry, are people who make a plan a, plan b, plan c, just by habit. When we are being told we are going to open to 25 dining with a potential to 50 i think all of us were skeptical to begin with. The folks he saw open up were testing the waters, either because they needed to, because they really needed to get some income or revenue in, or maybe they felt like they had mitigated the risk somehow. I will say though, that it does feel deflating for any of those folks that took the city out their word, or the state of their word and then opened up, not recognizing the fact that this is a dynamic situation. And thats way, i think, it underscores the need for federal aid. Because with federal aid we can go through this fluctuating situation back and forth and still have the safety met to not have to completely shudder it if we make an expenditure to open and then have to shut down again. Yeah chef, you are one of the more vocal advocates of a relief bill, a targeted relief bill there hoping federal lawmakers passed. Explain how that bill would help restaurants. So i think that the way we are kind of seeing this play out, is that this is going to be an absent flow type of situation. It will stay very dynamic. What this does is it takes 2019 revenues and compares them to 2020. If you are a place poised to do to go food and did very well in 2020 and youre up yearover year, you will not take any money. If you are a business that has been struggling and you lost a ton of revenue, this will give you money that will give you the ability to pay your vendors , pay some employees and your landlords. It is a very efficient way of spending money. Also, for every dollar that goes into an independent restaurant, . 95 usually walks out of the door within the next 30 Day Financial period. Its mainstream folks, blue collar folks that provide jobs and tax basis. I would say the only thing happening right now is you have two parties that need to come to the table and make something happen for the American People when we are all desperately in need. I mean the story right itself, right . Covid to Small Businesses and restaurants is, in a lot of ways, especially if you are not a restaurant that was specifically designed towards takeout, meaning that your whole margin and concept for space and how much you pay for rent was design on takeout, covid isand i know this is a really tragic example. Thats what most restaurants are struggling with right now, whether they can forecast four months out or two months out. They dont know.
