Santa cruz police hope a new photo released today will help them catch a vandal who defaced Mission Santa cruz. It happened during a protest, last week. Investigators say someone wrote slogans and profanities in red spray paint on the mission and its memorial plaque. The march and protest on wednesday evening was concentrated near Mission Plaza park in holy cross church. Anyone with information is asked to call santa cruz police. A man is sitting in jail accused of setting six fires overnight in two marin county neighborhoods. Investigators say the first three fires were reported in the marsh area at 11 a clock p. M. Last night. Three more fires were set earlier this morning in larkspur neighborhood. One of the fires prompted an evacuation of 20 people. 61yearold eric larson was arrested in connection with the fires and booked into marin county jail. Firefighters and second county are making process in a large wildfire that has burned more than 5000 acres. The grant fire broke out yesterday afternoon in a rural area, this was about 25 miles southeast of downtown sacramento. At last check the fire was 65 contained. There are no reports of any injuries and no evacuation orders. Those that were issued have been lifted because of the fire level remains unknown. The bay area weather has been getting a break from the heat, it is not moving around too much today as we take a look at some of the highs from this afternoon under some sunshine this afternoon. And there is the chance we could have a few sprinkles up toward cloverdale and towards portions of Mendocino County as well. So the cloud cover is focused right now, and temperatures are not changing too much. You see lots of 60s and 70s, lets see, Half Moon Bay around 59 degrees. Another winds are not as strong as yesterday, but we still have a bit of a breeze with winds around 12 to 20 miles an hour, some more reports for you, as a faux has a westerly 17 at sfo. We could still see some cloud cover out there as well, a breeze showing up with trees there in the foreground. So not completely clear as we head into your saturday evening.
