Crossing from one side to the next, think about all of those High School Students right now trying to play college sports. When it comes to college sports, we could see one of the biggest changes all because of this pandemic. College football coaches are usually actively recruiting players for upcoming seasons. High School Football players are having to rely on video from previous games to get coaches attentions. The highly rated recruits will be fine because scouts have had their eyes on them for years. Those players with less exposure might not get the scholarship offers they were hoping for. Welcome, everybody. You know, we have talked about pro sports probably getting back to normal as early as next month, at least here in the state of california. People dont think about those High School Seniors or juniors looking to maybe advance their career to the next level in college sports. I dont even know if College Football is going to be playing next year. Mike, you are absolutely right. The kids who are the top athletes are probably going to get offers anyway based on what they have seen. It is the kid who is just breaking through that may not get a look, and you still may be able to get a walk on position somewhere, but it is going to be tough. The good thing is that everyone shoots video these days, so there is plenty of video out there to show what the kids are doing. I know you have seen it when you have taking your son places. People have video and they are documenting everything. Absolutely. It is a huge emotional hit for the children and their families. It is also a financial hit hoping for money that may not be there. I have heard so many stories from High School Seniors who said i was preparing to go to a fouryear university and now my mom and dad got laid off and im going to go to a Community College close to home. They are having to change plans they have been looking forward to for years and years. So, we wish them all the very best. So many people are dealing with unexpected changes. Lets talk about the covid19 pandemic. It starts up in the north bay. One bay area county is taking the next step in reopening its economy. Napa county got the second greenlight to reopen. We are live to bring you details on what is changing. Good morning, sarah. Good morning. Is at least one restaurant in napa that could not wait to open its doors and welcoming customers today. You are taking a live look at the restaurant right now. It opened at 8 00 this morning to customers. The owner tells us he has taken all of the precautions and made changes to make sure his employees and customers are safe when they eat at his restaurant. The patio area normally has 30 tables but they removed have to allow people to sit far enough away from each other. It is kind of a lot of changes as our photographer walks through the restaurant. You are seeing people in masks and the barriers that have been put up, so a lot of changes to these restaurants. This is the first county in the bay area to get to this point. Along with restaurants reopening, people can shop at nonessential stores, malls, and swap meets with modifications, of course. Schools can reopen june 1 but districts have the final say. Wineries and tasting rooms cant open until phase 3. As for what to expect, the owner walked us through some of the changes customers will notice when they eat at his restaurant. First, i am going to ask that you have a facemask on while you walk around in my business. Once you get to your table, you are welcome to take your facemask off and enjoy yourself. We are asking that they put Hand Sanitizer on your hands as soon as they have entered the building. We have paper menus that are disposable. We have condiments that are single use condiment. Napa county highlighted how the county meets the states reopening criteria. As of tuesday, the county had 92 cases of coronavirus. 10 people were hospitalized, 6 were in the icu, and three have died. The total number of cases will likely go up, because there are more than 300 people in the county waiting for their test results. Sonoma county Health Officials are hoping to get a plan to ease restrictions approved by the end of the week allowing more businesses to reopen in many restaurants and wineries to provide outdoor seating to customers. They will take another step towards reopening the economy. Allowing more public activity may have already triggered an uptick in the number of coronavirus cases. Alameda county has more coronavirus cases compared to any other counties across the bay area. There are 65 new cases in the last 24 hours ringing its total to 2522. Santa clara had the highest number in the bay area. Santa clara now has two 2483 confirmed cases. There are more than 11,000 confirmed infections in the bay area. Every county reported new cases in just the last 24 hours. There are new deaths related to the coronavirus following two days of no reported deaths. At least 14 people died just yesterday. That comes after no reported deaths on sunday or monday, which has not happened since the early days of the pandemic. Experts say two days in a row with no loss of life is a promising step in the right direction. The union that represents Grocery Store workers is calling attention to the risks that workers face on the job during the coronavirus pandemic. The united union held a virtual News Conference this morning and said more than 10,000 grocery workers across the country have contracted covid 19 and at least 68 have died. The unions president criticized some of the supermarket chains for recently eliminating the additional hazard pay Grocery Store workers were being paid. These companies ignore what the American People know that this virus is still very much a threat and especially for those workers who must interact with thousands of customers every day. He wrote a letter to the supermarket chains that have discontinued the hazard pay urging them to reinstate it until the threat of the coronavirus has passed. The cdc gives recommendations for safely reopening. We have information on whether revisions include and what they dont. In a 60 page document, the cdc laid out more guidelines to safely reopen the country. It offers a slower and more detailed path even as governors in all 50 states have begun in some way to reopen. It urges widely available covid 19 being essential. It warns areas and institutions with higher transmission rates of a three step process to reopen. Oncega all roads lead t no thanks to the federal government. I wish they were doing more. They still need to do more. We want to keep them safe but we realize safety is mental and social for many of these kids. This and is not planning to pass any additional relief packages before leaving town for memorial day. Anything that we need to do needs to have included in that legislation Liability Protection so that our Small Businesses around the country have some protection against the lawyers who are sharpening their knives to go after them. I think the Public Opinion will be very much our friend in all of this. Faithbased organizations like churches have been left out of the instructions on how to reopen safely. On capitol hill, democrats and republicans continue to debate whether or not to pass another Economic Relief package. House democrats did pass a 3 trillion bill just last friday. The heroes act includes money for state and local governments. Senate republicans said they want to wait to see how the economy response as more states start to reopen. Republicans signed a new order to help the countries economic recovery. Please, get somewhere safe now. Parts of Central Michigan are underwater, and it is only getting worse. It is not going down. It is still rising. With the Chemical Plant on the riverbank, officials are urging folks to stay away from downtown. There can be lots of things that you dont want to step on or anything like that, so i would advise that you stay out of the water. The floodwaters come across as high as 90 feet before they start receiving. Local shelters will be screening evacuees for coronavirus symptoms, but no one will be turned away. She lived her life and she talked about it a lot on the show and it has not worked out for her yet to really have a child. She wants to. We had to find men who have met her criteria but also worked at a place where they wanted to be. It was not easy at all. The men are amazing and really fascinating from all over the country. A lot of them have their own companies and are very successful themselves. Then, we put them together and we challenged them each week in different ways to see if they are in fact ready and if they have the qualities she would want and really anyone would want in a good father. All of a sudden, they are in their late 30s and early 40s and they realize oh, i need to get on this. Why are we here . I think it is probably because we are all focused on success. Im guessing, but i think things are taking longer. Things are kind of getting delayed in our lives for some reason. Everyone wants to be successful, of course. If youre on that track even as a man, you may not be paying attention to your personal side. A lot of the men felt regret that they have not found a woman sooner than they felt embarrassed that they did not have their children yet. That was so interesting for me an unexpected, because i thought it was the women. We know that pee real situation for people, and i dont know why. I do know that it is happening. Once youre in that situation, the pressure is so intense, because you cant naturally go through your dating cycle. I have to ask the question before you go. When you are shooting the show, did a lot of people come in and identify with your character in sex and the city and say oh, its charlotte . Not so much . I didnt really hang out with the guys. She and i had a personal relationship. Well, who knows . You would have to ask her if she felt like she was talking to charlotte or not. I am okay, because i really like charlotte. There is a possibility that stores, restaurants, and other retail outlets can open in Los Angeles County on july 4. There are conflicting reports from the mayor of los angeles and the head of the county. That is certainly a goal we can reach. The big reopening of la county by july 4. Will that happen . It depends on who you listen to. Just a conflicting message about reopening coming from another local leader. These are all aspirational goals. I think we should avoid saying specific dates. That doesnt mean the county is planning on that today. Long beach is the second largest city moving ahead with its plans to help struggling restaurants allowing dying out options. Being outdoors is a much safer environment in terms of spreading viral particles. Outside is much better than inside. It is a much better and safer solution. We are extending our dining rooms out into an open air space. I think it will be great for restaurants to keep our customers happy, and people will probably feel more safe being outside in an open air dining spot. It is a way to keep local businesses open. I am one for local businesses and helping them out and getting this thing going. We are all filling the situation. We can respect that so we can get a little enjoyment with outdoor eating. Meanwhile, county leaders say they are dealing with fewer covid19 cases and working on reopening businesses by the state starting next week. We have talked about this ever since i was little. When service can finally begin. Colleges are planning for shortened semesters. As churches across california are still waiting for the green light to reopen, a warning from the Justice Department to governor newsom. All 50 states have now reopened in some way since the pandemic began. Connecticut becomes the last of those states with stayathome orders to reopen. In florida, disneys springs will welcome visitors for the First Time Since march. We have been waiting for this moment since we closed a couple of months ago. The majority of the states have not seen a 14 day decrease. A few states opened early including South Carolina, oklahoma, and tennessee. We need everyone to continue to do their part to maintain social distancing so that we can continue to maneuver and navigate our way through this. There are growing concerns as to when churches will open up. There is a warning to treat religious and nonreligious activities equally, but there are concerns over potential outbreaks. The center for Disease Control and prevention found widespread transmission at a church in arkansas. At least 35 of 92 attendees tested positive for the virus after two symptomatic people attended Church Events and later received positive covid 19 tests. Contact tracing found at least 26 additional cases in that community. Bart ridership is at an all time low because of the pandemic. Yesterday, bart received a big shot in the arm. Trains will roll into san jose for the First Time Ever , even as bart opens two stations. We are joined with these exciting details. We have been waiting since we were kids to actually see this. How about a couple of decades of planning and not to mention construction and the big price tag of some 2. 3 billion. It is finally complete. Bart will finally say hello to the city of san jose in a little over three weeks come june. Now, the brandnew 10 mile stretch will extend all the way to stop number one. Number two will be in north san jose. The mayor of san jose gave the final safety check to big thumbs up yesterday, and they cant wait to finally welcome bart to the south bay. Today, we are celebrating an opportunity to look to a much brighter future. This is the more east side of san jose. We wanted to make sure we were able to connect the public here with opportunities around the bay. Now ironically, all of this is happening as bart ridership has fallen 90 because of the coronavirus, but that will change with time. The first train will roll out of the station northward on saturday morning june 13 bound for the city of richmond. Remember, this is only phase 1. Phase 2 will kickoff in about two years in the year 2022. That will include two downtown stations in san jose and one in santa clara. They hope to finish that by the year 2030. That is the latest. This comes after former people tested positive for covid19. More than 1300 Staff Members have been tested. Oakland Police Department said another employee has tested positive for covid19. The employee has not been to work since last thursday and is recovering and felt quarantine. The testing is available for them. This is the fourth employee did test positive at the oakland Police Department. There is Research Underway for a missing teenager. The 15 yearold was laughing thursday night when she said good night to her parents. The teenager met a boy online. Her parents believe she may have been manipulated and lured out of the home. The mayor says she will meet with other city leaders on friday to discuss plans for summer camps and other activities in the coming months. It will center around opportunities mostly for the summer and transitioning kids to a place where we can allow in some cases summer activities. Summer camps are important to many parents who are anxious and eager to get back to work. As restaurants begin to reopen, some of them are coming up with creative ways to ensure social distancing. A park has created white circles in the grass and called them human parking spaces. A company in maryland is rolling out bumper tables to help people bounce back into eating out. A restaurant in South Carolina is using mannequins to help spaced out customers. Even as restaurants do reopen, Health Officials are encouraging people to wear a face mask whenever possible. Some bay area restaurants are offering up some discounts over memorial day. Chicken is cluck is offering up a free meal. A korean kitchen has a special on familystyle korean barbecue meals.
