President trump is directing his staff to come up with some guidelines to determine which parts of the country are more at risk for the coronavirus in order to perhaps relax some of those social distancing restrictions. Now, in a letter to the governors across the country, the president said, the new guidelines will rate individual counties by risk from low to moderate to high risk. State and local leaders would then be able to make a decision about whether to keep, increase, or perhaps loosen restrictions. Critics of the plan, though, worry people would just go from a high risk area to a lowrisk area to enjoy some more freedom of movement. Part of this will be the need to have highly responsible behavior between counties, and i think the American People can understand that, that they will understand where the virus is because well have the testing data and where it isnt, and make sure that theyre taking appropriate precautions as they move in and out of spaces. And every day this week, there have been long lines of people who have been waiting and wanting to get tested to see if they have the virus. Monday was the first day the city of hayward did this program partnering with a lab in menlo park. The results came in yesterday. Hayward officials were surprised by the results with nearly 1 out of every 4 people in these lines testing positive for the virus. It is concerning, but we expected once more testing was available, you know, when we opened the test site, that theres going to be some positive cases. Reporter now the testing continues today at haywards fire station number 7 7 on huntwood avenue. You dont need to have an appointment. This is walkup or drivethru. It is strongly recommended you show up and take one of these tests if you have any of the symptoms or are in one of the highrisk groups. Its scheduled to be open every weekday at 9 00 a. M. You must line up by 10 00 a. M. Theres a separate afternoon session which you must line up by 1 00 in the afternoon and the testing will remain open until 6 00 p. M. Or whenever they run out of tests. Hayward center said theyre going to be closing the Testing Center early so they can go out and take theez tests to the vulnerable community. Right now, tests are only available to patients of the clinic who have the symptoms and whove made an appointment. The purpose of those tents is to prevent people with the symptoms from walking into facilities and possibly exposing others. Also, they say, its just more efficient. If i have to bring a patient into the clinic ishgs into the isolation room to do testing, i can do at most four per isolation room per day. Whereas in a drivethru i can do 10 to 12 tests each hour. Now, the daily city clinic is at 211 east moore avenue. Testing is available weekdays between 3 00 and 4 00 in the afternoon. Our time now, 6 38. Emergency room doctors and nurses under a lot of pressure preparing for a surge of coronavirus patients. The parking lot at oaklands Alta Bates Summit Center has been filled with paramedics as ambulances come in and come out.
