Now, on fridays sometimes people do work from home or perhaps they work four day weeks because were having a lighter commute. It could be related to just many things. People are staying home for other things. This is a look at interstate 880 north and south. You can see traffic is moving well and at the bay bridge toll plaza we do have a light commute. So, this is going to be hopefully a good day here at the bridge. 6 01. Lets go back to the kes desk. There are now about three dozen coronavirus cases here in the bay area. All nine counties have at least one person who have the illness. Santa clara county has the most. 20 of them. Four are travel related. Nine come from close contact with someone and, the rest, they have unknown causes. Police officers in sunnyvale are now quarantined at home because they may have been exposed to the coronavirus. The Police Department says the decision to isolate those seven officers yesterday after they performed cpr on a 72yearold man was dying. That same man had recently been on a cruise. While obtaining the patients medical history, a Family Member advised us that the patient had recently been on a cruise where two other passengers were suspected of having covid19. Now, it still hasnt been defrmed if the man had the coronavirus. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety says the decision to quarantine those seven officers was made out of an abundance of caution. Those officers are expected to be back at work soon. And, happening today, we expect to hear the test results of coronavirus tests on 45 people who were on a cruise ship thats off the coast of california. Theyd been ordered away from the coast. The cdc and the state will use these results to determine where the grand princess can eventually be docked. Ktvus allie rasmus joins us live from a staterun lab in richmond thats processing these test kits. Allie. Well, the way those covid19 test kits got from those passengers on that ship to richmond was pretty dramatic. Take a look at the video. An Air National Guard helicopter had to drop off and then later pick up those test kits. The ship is not allowed to birth in San Francisco. Its at home port right now. There are 35 people on board that ship who reported having flulike symptoms. A total of 45 people were tested for the virus. Just this week, a passenger who had been on the ship died from the coronavirus in placer county. Right now the cruise liner has more than 3,500 people on board crew, passengers, and crew members. The cdc and the state will determine the most appropriate location for the ship to birth. And, the location needs to provide for the safety of the surrounding community as well as the passengers and crew. Now, meanwhile onshore in San Francisco, the patients are not related to one another and not related to that cruise ship we just mentioned. But one of the patients is a 90 yearold man with Previous Health problems. The second case is a woman in her 40s in fair condition. We do not know at this point how they were exposed to the virus dh, again, suggests it is spreading in the community. We expected that to happen. We anticipated that. Now, back here in richmond, the state lab that received those tests is right here behind us and, again, 45 people on board that princess cruise ship. Were testing for a possible coronavirus, covid19. It includes money to develop treatments for the virus and more than 2 2 billion to help the cdc contain the virus. President trump defended his administrations response to the coronavirus during his first town hall meeting. The president rejected criticism that the u. S. Did not act quickly enough to prevent the spread of the virus. One of the things i did was i closed down the borders to china and to other areas that were badly affected and really having a lot of troubles. I mean countries and areas of countries that have had a lot of problem. And i closed them down very early against the advice of almost everybody and weve been given rave reviews. They are projecting some 10th of an inch. That would end the streak with more rain possible to the west southwest. Look at monterey. As we head into monday night and tuesday morning. So it looks like the focus will be from about south bay south as we head towards early next week. But tonight and tomorrow its from a system coming in. A federal judge has ordered a release of the unredacted Mueller Report after saying attorney general william barr gave a misleading account of that report. Robert mueller decided not to make a judgment on whether President Trump tried to obstruct justice as he investigated whether the Trump Campaign conspired with russia to interfere with the 2016 elections. Mueller later complained that barrs summary of that report did not fully capture the essence of his findings. Facebook is removing a series of ads from President Trump. All the projections are still in line there. Santa rosa 13 100ths. That would be from the weekend system and look at monterey. Forecast for 1 of rain. This in favored areas towards the peninsula. South bay more than north or east bay and its a fine line. It looks like some rains back in our future after 37 dry days and snow, yesterday amounts theyve ramped this up a little bit. Health officials are advising people to stay away from large gatherings. The San Jose Sharks were advised to cancel last nights game however, that game did go on. Im here and im not afraid. I make sure that i wash my hands, keep my hands away from my face. You can never be too cautious i guess. With all the news out there, it can be overwhelming sometimes. The sharks released a statement that said the sap center does undergo rigorous cleaning after every event and said many areas will receive additional enhanced cleanings. And, the show will go on at the san Jose Cinequest Film Festival. Its going to run through sunday, the 15th. It is unclear whether the coronavirus will drive down attendance which is expected to reach more than 150,000 people. Hand sanitation. It would be financially absolutely devastating if we had to close the Film Festival down at this point. This is the only fundraiser they have during the year. Now, none of the cruise ship guests will be allowed to get off until all of the test results are received. Meantime, as that cruise ship awaits those test results, the captain has asked all of the guests to stay 6 away from each other. This is the lab here behind us with the California Department of health. And, inside is where there are 45 tests to test for covid19 coronavirus. These tests came from passengers on board the grand princess cruise liner now off the coast of San Francisco. National guard helicopters actually had to drop off and then later pick up those tests from the ship by helicopter. The cruise liner is not allowed to birth in San Francisco its home port. Its dockeded about 100 nautical miles off the coast. There are 3,500 people on board that cruise ship. Some of them came down with illnesses earlier this week. And also this week, a passenger who had been on that ship and disembarked died from coronavirus in placer county. There are 2,383 passengers on board the ship. And 1,100 crew members. Of that, a total of 35 have shown flu like symptoms during the course of this 15day cruise. Now, again, 45 people on board that ship were tested and as we await those test results, those people have to remain in their cabins on that cruise ship. Meanwhile on shore in San Francisco, city Health Leaders announced the first cases of coronavirus in the city among residents there. Theyre not related to the cruise ship and these two patients are not related to one another. One is a 90yearold man in the hospital in serious condition. Seven officers responded to this call. They say that a man was having a cardiac emergency. Those officers performed cpr on a 72yearold patient, but not mouth to mouth. That patient later died. Family members told responders he had recently been on a cruise where other passengers had been suspected of having covid19. Although its not yet been determined by Santa Clara County Public Health whether or not the patient had covid19, we are taking every step possible to ensure the safety and well being of the officers on the call, the members of our department and the sunnyvale community. None of those officers are showing symptoms. There are no plans to test them for the virus. The medical examiner will determine the patients cause of death. Sfo is taking new steps to protect passengers from the coronavirus. Its designed to kill the virus and the airport has added 60 new hand sanitizing stations. Bart says its cleaning crews have increased their regular rounds of stations and trains across the bay area. Other Public Transit agencies are also taking extra steps to keep areas clean. A basketball player claims to have contracted the virus while playing a tournament in china. Late last year, she and another pro basketball player played professionally in china and she says they suffered an unknown virus. They were in the hospital before christmas.
