That student were hearing not showing any symptoms of coronavirus. He or she has been sent him throaning with all 3 sent home along with all 3,000 students. We know this is a conservative decision but we did this out of the abundance of caution for the safety of our students. A School Official is not releasing a lot of details about the student but says it does not appear the student has siblings at any other schools in the district. So far the district is saying, they are not seeing a spike in the number of students complaining of flulike illness. The School District is hoping to have an update as soon as tomorrow about whether lowell will reopen on monday. Cities are working to contain the threat of covid19 in San Francisco. San franciscos mayor made the announcement that Health Officials said was nebl. Today we are announcing the first two cases of coronavirus in our city. They have been detected in San Francisco and these individuals are contained. Reporter Health Officials arent offering a lot of details about the parish, only saying that theyre unrelated and are being treated at two different hospitals in the city. One is a man in his 90s in serious condition with Underlying Health conditions. The other, a woman in her 40s in fair condition. The city tested those patients tuesday. The results confirming both have covid19 and neither had direct contact with anyone on board the grand pacific cruise ship that has been associated with the other cases of coronavirus. We do not know at this point how they were exposed to the virus, which again suggests it is spreading in the community. We expected that to happen. We anticipated that. Reporter the city is able to test samples locally, getting results in a day or two instead of having to wait as much as a week getting results from the centers for Disease Control in atlanta, georgia. At this point officials are not saying if the families have been tested or quarantined. Well be monitoring them for symptoms. Taking a closer history to ensure to see if there are any Additional Public Health tests that need to be made. Reporter the city confirming now that coronavirus is here, the fight shifts subtly from preventing cases to preventing the spread throughout the city. Today testing kits were flown out to the grand princess cries ship which is off the san mateo coastline right now. This is video of that helicopter arriving as the ship arrived this morning. It travelled from monray this morning to San Mateo County tonight. After testing passengers, the kits will be flown to a laboratory in richmond. Reporter we hear from a reliable source, the helicopter is probably gonna arrive between 5 00 pm and 6 00 pm. It would be a u. S. Coast guard helicopter or the military helicopter that actually picked up the samples from the ship earlier today. Which happens, and if it happen, well certainly show that to you. What goes on in this lab is gonna be very important. Its gonna tell the tale of whether or not these people have coronavirus, which is a big issue for them. But its also gonna be something that will either increase or reduce the angst of a lot of us out here about the uncontrolled spread of the coronavirus. The federal state and local government must know the exact condition of its 3,483 passengers and crew. Of that a total of 35 have shown flulike symptoms during the course of this 15day cruise. Many of those people have recovered and are no longer showing flulike symptoms. Reporter anyone on the ship who showed flulike symptoms or may have been exposed to those people are being tested today. This military helicopter flew out to the ship and delivered the test kits to the ship at midmorning. The state department of health says administering the test will take several hours to  complete. The test will be analyzed by the california viral Disease Laboratory in richmond. One of the most advanced disease labs in the world. We anticipate to have results early tomorrow. Reporter then comes the thorny issue of docking the ship. Once we have results from the test, the cdc and the state will determine the most appropriate location for the ship to berth. And that will the location needs to provide for the safety of the surrounding community as well as the passengers and crew. Reporter the grand princess may or may not dock in the bay. The cdc and the state are considering a number of locations including San Francisco. Once we know, then a decision will be made. When you realize that a reform has been adulterated, the rank and file no longer believe. He has made a career and mms of dollars on the backs of the rsz of oakland. Cases of coronavirus in the United States to know rise. And the number of deaths in connection to the virus has also increased. The only death in the u. S. Outside of washington was a man in placer county. That happened yesterday. And today new york city reported two new cases of community transmission. The number of cases there had reached 22. Now doubling the count from yesterday. And tennessee announced its first coronavirus case. He is currently isolated at home with mild symptoms. His household contacts are quarantined. Kwaurnt the u. S. Senate and house of representatives have agreed on a 8. 3 billion spending package to fight the virus. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety tweeted earlier today that officers there performed cpr on a patient who was unconscious and breathing. And that 73yearold patient ended up dying. It was determined that the patient was on the cruise with two people suspected of having the coronavirus. Officials with sunnyvale dps are holding a conference at the top of the hour. Late this afternoon, the California National guard posted video, this video, to its Facebook Page of that mission to that cruise ship. The video shows a helicopter flying up to the ship and lowering a National Guard member onto the deck. Medical staff on board that ship perform the test on several dozen people. Some San Francisco emergency room nurses are speaking out, voicing their concerns with the possible threat of a coronavirus pandemic looming. The hospitals where they work . Not ready for whats to come, they say. Reporter San Franciscos General Hospital is the only level 1 Trauma Center in the city. Some veteran nurses worry the hospital is not ready for a coronavirus epidemic. Were illprepared. Reporter krista duran has been an er nurse for four years. She says she hasnt received nearly enough training or instruction. We need to know from beginning to end, algorithm, if a patient walks in, if they need to be intubated, this is where theyre going to go and this is what were going to do. We need to have an actual team that works on that. We dont. Reporter nor basic information. I cant tell you where our disaster supplies are in our Emergency Department where i work. Reporter duran was among a group of nurses who rallied before taking their concerns to the board of supervisors. The Union National nurses united rallied in oakland complaining that a National Survey shows that many hospitals have no plans for an outbreak or Safety Standards to protect healthcare workers. Were not even ready for the seasonal flu. Reporter the nurses say by speaking out and speaking ill, they hope that change comes and comes quickly. We have some breaking news concerning the coronavirus. A live look from skyfox at the helicopter returning from the cruise ship sitting off the california coast. The concern is that some people on board may have the coronavirus. They brought the test kit out there. And the chop serlanding back close to the lab in richmond. This is the firefighters trade facility not far from that lab on Marina Boulevard in richmond. We expect that the test kits will be removed and taken to that lab there in richmond to be tested. We are awaiting the results of those testing before we find out any new information about what is going to happen to that cruise ship off the california coast. It will obviously depend on the number of kisses, if any, come back positive for the coronavirus. At that point they will determine the best course of action if that ship can dock in San Francisco. And some of the patients be let off and others quarantined. Itll all depend on the results of the tests. Yesterday 1 of the passages who were on a cruise on the ship in question here, the grand princess, passed away out in placer county. He was on the cruise from the 11th to the 21st of february. The cruise went back out on another cruise. Governors say yesterday just shortly after the announcement of the death, he was gonna have the cruise stay out there until these test kits can test the folks on board to make sure that no one on board is a danger once that ship docks back in San Francisco. So the testing will happen. Well see how long its gonna take and what develops out of the situation. Those people stuck on that cruise ship off the san mateo coast right now. We do know that that ship holds about 2,500 passengers and crew. We dont know the exact number of those people on board the ship who have been tested. Obviously they want to test as many as possible. So they can figure out exactly how the exposure is being contained, if at all on that cruise ship. This ambulance, and then theyll be driven to the nearby laboratory in richmond. Where that testing will begin. We dont know exactly how long that testing will take place. Officials are encouraged that it should take about one to two days before we get those results. That ship is not gonna be able to return to San Francisco where it was heading to before Governor Newsom announced yesterday afternoon that it would not be allowed to dock here. A nineyearold boy reported missing from pet luma on tuesday has been located thousands of miles away in hawaii. Police in maui announced that santiago was found safe and and unharmed after a bus driver recognized him and his mother from missing child alerts and contacted authorities. Theres nothing to call this except a threat. Reporter Mitch Mcconnell slamming Chuck Schumer for saying sproet justices would, quote, pay the price for antiabortion rulings.
