Of those super tuesday states as of this minute, polls are closed everywhere exempt for utah and california. Going into today, Bernie Sanders was hoping to gain enough delegates that it would be impossible for anyone to catch him. But tonight his rivals dont look like theyre going anywhere. Heres Elizabeth Warren speak next detroit tonight. You other ones who get to pick the person who will be the next president. And it is an awesome thing. You are gonna do it right here in michigan next week. Before doing it in california right now. And thats what it means to have a democracy. Im in this race because i i believe i will make the best president of the United States. Two counties still underway. Fox has only projected winners in four states and one territory. Biden has taken virginia and north carolina. Michael bloomberg on the president ial ballot for first time is projected to win the territory of american samoa. He was on stage in florida tonight. The polls are still open in a number of super tuesday states. And as the results come in, heres what is clear. No matter how many delegates we win tonight, we have done something no one else thought was possible. In just three months, weve gone from 1 of the polls to being a contender for the democratic nomination for president. The next vote is a week away when another six states go to the polls. 350 delegates. The polls have closed in eight more states. Lets go to Heather Holmes tracking the latest results for us this evening. Shes standing by in the newsroom. Reporter polls have just closed in colorado and minnesota. And we have just learned that both the Associated Press and fox news have already declared Bernie Sanders the winner there in colorado. We should be seeing results from those other states in just a few minutes. Lets look at some of the results already coming in. Some polling places in tennessee actually extend thered hours due to deadly tornadoes. But were already starting to see some early results there. And as we take a look right there, joe biden with 29 of the vote there in tennessee. Followed by Bernie Sanders with 24 . Lets move on now to arkansas. 31 delegates are up for grabs there. And right now joe biden is the early winner with 30 of the polls reporting, followed by Michael Bloomberg with 23 . Now heres a look at the result in massachusetts. Of course elizabeths home state. There are 91 delegates at stake there. And Elizabeth Warren is coming in third. Bernie sanders right now leading the massachusetts polls followed by joe biden. And results are also coming in from maine. Lets take a look at those if you can. Right now joe biden with the lead. A small lead, 35 to Bernie Sanders 34 . And also the polls closed at 5 00 in oklahoma. Lets go ahead and take a look at the results coming in so far. And the state of oklahoma, joe biden with 36 . And lets take a look at the latest from texas. 228 delegates up for grabs. The secondmost behind california. And again right now in texas, Bernie Sanders has the lead of 30 compared to joe bidens 22 . The headline at this hour, Bernie Sanders has won colorado and vermont. And joe biden has claimed victory in three states so far. Alabama, north carolina, and virginia. Well be monitoring the results all night long and bring you the tlaeft throughout the evening. Biden has been lagging in the polls in california behind Bernie Sanders and of course california is the big state tonight with the most delegates up for grabs. His campaign is still hoping to pick up some delegates in california by finishing above the crucial 15 statewide threshold. Earlier today, biden made a stop in oakland for a final swing through the bay area as voters head to the polls. Greg lee was there at the buttercup. What do you make of the results so far . So far its early. But certainly a very good stat start to the night for joe biden. But still prizes like california and texas at stake. California is a big question mark for mr. Biden. Especially with senator Bernie Sanders leading the way in all the polls here. The former havent spoke with supporters at the butter cup diner in oakland. Yesterday he received endorsements from former rivals Amy Klobuchar and pete buttigieg, along with beto orourke. Hes not spent much time in california. But biden is hoping to carry some momentum from a big win in south carolina. How are you feeling today . Im feeling really good. It seems like a lot of late deciders decide to be going in favor of joe biden. What does that tell you . I think people were waiting. The field was so dense. There were so many people in it. They were waiting till the last minute. Thats certainly true in the state of california where a lot percentage of mailin voters were hanging onto the ballots. And were seeing very long lines throughout california. For joe biden, were seeing a lot of those votes go toward him. And certainly that momentum, but also the demographic. In the south and southeast, hes doing very well with the African American vote, which is states that he has won. If that will carry over into texas and california, well still have to wait and see. Bernie sanders has won in colorado. And we saw those numbers from texas. It appears that sanders is clearly in front in california. In texas, that state is really up for grabs. And that has the secondmost delegate at stake tonight. You expect utah, colorado. Those are expected to go to Bernie Sanders. And through all the polling weve seen because of Bernie Sanders success and mobilization with the latinesque community, he was expected to run away with texas. It is very early. If joe biden keeps it close throughout the night in texas, that would be a big loss for Bernie Sanders in terms of delegates. 220 at stake in that state. We havent talked a lot about Elizabeth Warren. What happens if she doesnt win her home state of massachusetts . I think the bottom line, maybe that was indicative. She she took the stage in michigan very early before we saw a lot of results coming out of these super tuesday states. Maybe that was a shine she expected not to do well. Bottom line, you have to win your home state. The other part of that is, as you look at the other states that have been called for sanders or biden, shes not hitting that magic number of 15 . You have to hit 15 at state level or the Congressional District in order to get any delegates. News keeps coming in. Joe biden has been declared the winner there by associated process in oklahoma. The cdc reports there are more than a hundred coronavirus cases in the United States in at least 15 states. President trump toured the National Institute of health in maryland today as Health Officials updated him on the outbreak. There have been nine months so far. 4 lawmakers question whether the government will be able to run one million tests by the end of the week as promised. This is a frightening time. The people who are sick who want to get tested are not being told where to go. Even when people do get tested, and its very few so far, the results are taking way longer to get back to them. The head of the fda says they have been working with a private company to get as many as 2,500 test kits out. Each kit should be able to allow a lab to run about 500 tests. Two new cases of coronavirus today in santa clara county, bringing the total to 11. The source is under investigation. County Health Officials are advising people at higher risk, including the elderly and those with Health Conditions like heart disease, cancer or lung disease, to avoid places where they might be exposed to coronavirus. Were recommending that people at higher risk avoid mass gatherings, such as parades, sporting events, and concerts where large numbers of people are within arms length of one another. Now to petaluma where police are asking for the publics help to find a nine yearold boy. He was last seen last night around 9 30. His father discovered him missing this morning. Investigators think the boys mother, autumn stone, may have taken him. She does not have legal custody. He is wearing blue and green pajamas, 45, weighs 70 pound, has long blonde hair and brown eyes. A series of hat crimes within the hate crimes within the same School District under investigation. Officials are taking action even though the cases may not be linked. One of the men accused of robbing an elderly asian men of aluminum cans, charged with robbery and elder abuse. Prosecutors say he is the man seen in this video accused of harassing a 16yearold man. Amersons defense Attorney Says it was not racially charged. The second suspect who videotaped the exchange and post today to social media will not face criminal charges. He was originally charged with a hate crime for inflammatory language that could be heard in the video. A car drove up a street and into a homeless encampment in berkeley. Police say no one was hurt. The crash happened about 1 00 this afternoon. The driver ran over a tent and destroyed a couple of solar panels. No one was inside the tent at the time. Police told berkeley the driver was a woman in her 60s. The cause of the crash is not yet known. In San Francisco, a car crashed into a fire hydrant, sending a huge plume of water into the air. It happened on the embarcadero on mission street. Gushing water poured an the sidewalk and into the street, slowing traffic. No word yet from police on how the crash happened. It turns out it was his friends who tossed the dog waste into his suv three of the teenagers who were injured are in the hospital. And one of them suffered life altering injuries. Police in sunnyvale arrested a ups worker with an arsenal of weapons after he allegedly planned to open fire on coworkers. As ktvus Crime Reporter henry lee explain, those threats came in the form of Text Messages that glorified mass shooters. Reporter ups employee, thomas andrewses, accused of threatening to shoot up the ups warehouse in sunnyvale. The tone to his messaging to this group was that he was interested, maybe planning, thinking about conducting a mass shooting. Reporter officers learned that he had four handguns and a rifle registered to him. Later that night, officer perry and the chp pulled the suspect over after a chase. He then challenged a chp officer to a fight. Police searched his apartment and found a cache of weapon, highcapacity magazines and am zoe. 20,000 rounds of ammunition. We also found a shotgun. We found five tacticalstyle rifles. Three handguns. And some beside armor. Reporter several tactical backpacks were found staged at the front door. Officers potentially averted a massacre. Were happy that mr. Andrews is safely behind bars. Our investigation is ongoing as to what the motivation was. Toward his anger for ups. Reporter ups has been especially sensitive to Workplace Violence in. 2017, an employee at the ups facility in San Francisco shot and killed three drivers and injured two others before turning the gun on himself. Drivers on their route his no comment. The company declined to discuss the sunnyvale suspect. In a statement, ups said we are cooperating with Law Enforcement as they conduct their investigation. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threat, weapons violations, evading and dui. Students in oakland are finally back under one roof, attending class at ralph bunch campus at the ralph bunch campus. The campus has been closed for nearly two weeks after a cancer causing chemical was found in the groundwater there underneath the school. Students were divided up to attend classes at three oakland schools while testing was done on the chemical trichlorothelleen. It is used as an industrial solvent. The test will determine whether the air is safe or contaminated by chemical vapors. Some 200 workers at San Franciscos hartine bakery are trying to unionize. The flagship manufacturery on alabama street. They are accusing the owners of unleashing an aggressive attack to try to stop them from unionizing. We want this company to be a union company, people can be happy to come here and know theyre supporting eem who are getting treated well and having a great job. A cofounder of the bakery told them she wanted to keep the business unionfree because the bakery already provides employees with pay and benefits. More than two dozen people are dead in tennessee tonight after tornadoes ripped through nashville and the central part of that state early this morning. A series of hate crimes all in one south bay School District. And now School Officials are vowing to install cameras and establish a black student union. Police in san jose are investigating a series of hate crimes committed in the sate School District over the last ten months. Each incident was targeted toward African Americans. Pleasant Elementary SchoolSchool District administrators say three acts of racial hate have them shocked, angered and unified. We do not tolerate bigotry in our community. Four years okay, we started to see a rise in hate crimes. We started to see that. Reporter the School District has 2,000 student bus only 20 are African American. They do not believe the three times were committed we bye the same person, and may not have been done during school hours. Use of the nword has been popularized in entertainment and adult speech. The young kids often will hear mom and dad say it. And theyll hear mom and dad argue and say it. Or somebody will cut mom off in traffic and theyll hear it. And their young ears capture it, and they know to use it as a derogatory slur from that point. There were one of the incident, someone used a magic marker to write the nword on a teachers door that. Teacher is African American. The San Jose Police department is investigating for vandalism and a hate crime. It is painful and heartbreaking to see hatred in our community. Tornadoes ripped through central tennessee this morning, killing at least 25 people. Some before they could even get out of bed. The tornadoes took down at least 140 buildings. One tornado wrecked homes and accidents across a tenmile stretch. Polling places were forced to stay open later than usual. Reporter deadly tornadoes tear through nashville and central tennessee early tuesday. The number of fatalities rapidly increased as crews searched through debris. The twisters caused extensive damage. They destroyed dozens of buildings and homes, tearing off roofs and uprooting trees. The residents say the damage is devastating. Weve been through lots of tornado warnings. And never thought that this would happen. Reporter some homes are almost unrecognizable following the tornadoes. The storms also downed power lines, blocking off streets, and leaving thousands without electricity. Emergency shelters opened to help residents. The governor declared a state of emergency. Folks like that surround this in an effort to help, thats hope in the midst of hopelessness. I look forward to seeing that happen. Reporter the National Weather service says the tornadoes came from a line of storms stretching from alabama into western pennsylvania. Tornado warnings were also issued for alabama. A system bring think rain and lightning along with it. We couldnt get out. I just kept kicking and kicking. Until we finally made a hole. In nashville, steve harrigan, fox news. There is growing concern in Southern California tonight where a brush fire is now burning out of control. More than 200 firefighters are struggling to contain the mann fire near the Santa Ana River bottom. It started around 10 00 this morning, in the town of norco. Several hundred homes are now under mandatory evacuation orders. Light winds and brush are fuelling the flames. So far that fire has burned honor 100 acres. Another warm day today. Just like yesterday in. Some cases, a little bit warmer. Like in santa rosa, 85 degrees was the high today. Really toasty for early march. Were in winter. Mid80s. 74 in san mateo. And that record in oakland, 76 degrees. Definitely a warm day today. Tomorrow maybe close. Almost close to as warm, or a degree or two cooler in some places. A few more clouds. The jet stream is dropping down just a little bit. Thats where the rain is. And when this drops south, we have a shot. It drops south, into our latitude, somewhere into friday, saturday, sunday. Youre gonna notice increasing clouds, lower temperatures. Right . And then the chances of a few sprinkles on saturday and into sunday a little bit. Be really light stuff. But the takeaway here is that early next week with the jet stream at that latitude, its gonna have an opportunity to deliver something.
