The department of Water Resources conducted their third snow survey of the year, and mark tamayo was there and asked the app spurts if we are headed for another drought. On a morning that felt like a warm spring day, the department of Water Resources conducted the third snow survey of the winter. Its a short hike of highway 50 and close to the sierra resort, these are one of two snow melts that are checked. Just two months ago the winter was off to a great start with the snowpack measuring 90 of average. Since then we will most likely end up as the driest february in northern sierra on record. The chief of the snow surveys with the department of Water Resources walked the divine snow course and stop to sample seven points along the way. We have is no depth of 29 inches and the content of 11. 5 inches, that results in a 47 of an average march. If you were to melt the snow, water depth could be measured, the latest snow water equivalent of 11. 5 inches will help with runoff predictions. The measurement of 43 inches at this time last year illustrates how conditions can quickly change. Does this change mean a future drought . We start to get concerned over a couple of years, a few dry months really does not make a drought. The major reservoirs are in good shape thanks to last years epic winters. We are about 104 of historical average. The next snowstorm is scheduled for april 1 and thats when the snowpack content typically peaks. It will be a key indicator of how much water is locked up for the sierra. All they can do right now is hope for a miracle march. Lets bring in our chief meteorologist bill martin with a look at the forecast. We had another record High Temperature at oakland airport, 74 degrees. Weve had records all week long, lots of 70s and 80s. It has obviously been very dry, but you combine these very warm temperatures with these very dry conditions and it makes for a february unlike most of us have ever seen. Its one thing to be dry, another thing to be record warmth. Usually when you are dry like this you get some valley fog and overnight lows with frost and freeze, but not even close. Weve been very warm. 79 in fairfield, 78 in antioch, temperatures will trend down for the next couple of days. Mostly upper 60s to mid 70s, still a really nice day, and then when we get into saturday and sunday, temperatures really start to go down, which could hopefully lead to some changes in the weather. Its kind of like when you were located and some guy was a i could beat you with one hand tied behind my back. That was kind of like what the lakers said to the warriors. Come in here and we will beat you even with lebron out of this thing, and that they did. He was out with a groin strain but believe me, he would be entertained a short time later as the warriors hang tough with the lakers. But watch Draymond Green, ejected after he is absolutely flattened by Dwight Howard on that pic, perfectly legal, i think he was just embarrassed, second technical and hes out of the game. Lebron is there really entertained by drain lines rejection. 13 of his 23 come in the second quarter, they warriors actually led by 2 at intermission. The turnovers killed them, caldwell on the other end, 27 turnovers for the warriors tonight. Another loose ball here, anthony davis, on the other hand, will go to the rack, 62 34, the warriors were outscored in the second half even without lebron. No problem, 27 turnovers, that will do it every time. 11686. Without a doubt, this was the signature when in first gear cow coach mark fox is brief career. Remember sharif abdul kareem received a Lifetime Achievement award from cal, back in 1985. Matt bradley careerhigh 26 points for cal tonight, and he is fouled on the 3point shot. Up 12 1 2, and a beautiful drive with the left hand, he is fouled, it counts, cal emphatically beats colorado, the number 21 team in the land, 7662. Its one of two things for st. Marys, they are not as good as we are used to seeing them, or they are just kind of on Cruise Control as they had in toward the playoffs and march. No crying in baseball, apparently theres no crying in basketball either at santa clara. In fact, hanging tough, jordan forbes from downtown, 33 points for him. About a minute left in this thing, they slam it, 7872, santa clara now 510 in conference, and other locomotion, jimbo lowell, 16 points, 13 rebounds, they throttled portland 8165. And with the season just about recorders of the way done for the sharks, nothing left to lose so why not let it all hang out. Winning feels good no matter what the standing say in the newspaper. The sharks tonight bring out the great chris to play his final season. He brought good luck, and the second period, the devils power play situation, but a turnover, beautiful, ties things up, and this goes to overtime. Just 38 seconds in, evander kane will find Logan Couture for the game deciding goal just his second game back after the fracture in his ankle three minutes to final for the captains and san jose sharks.
