Reporter good morning. The sfpd cleared the scene at haight and ashbury and a of hours ago but there are still chalk markings on the ground. It stretches all the way down this block and there are markers throughout the area that show what appears to be some of the damage left behind on some of these buildings. We know that when the car traveled down the sidewalk, it hit two Homeless People and also hit some homes and cars. A busy night for the san Francisco Police and it started on haight and ashbury just before 9 30 p. M. Officers got a call about a white suv driving recklessly and they said the man and woman were yelling and threatening people on the street, mainly the homeless and the sfpd then drove on the sidewalk, hit two Homeless People, building and parked cars. The victims were treated for nonlifethreatening injuries. The man and woman kept driving. 10 minutes later, offices got another call and this time, about shots fired on twin peaks boulevard and crown harris. The sfpd said a driver sped toward officers and hit the front of the air patrol car. The officers were not heard and then officers put the crime scenes together. The officers, after taking the two people into custody, quickly realized the vehicle that struck them matched the description of the vehicle that was running and had struck two pedestrians at haight and ashbury 10 minutes prior. Video shows an officer leading the way a woman in handcuffs from the scene and the driver of the car was treated at a hospital for injuries from airbags going off and shots fired at twin peaks, the sfpd said there is no merit to that and this is the early part of the investigation and officers are trying to gather the details. Investigators with the california Highway Patrol are searching for the driver who hit and killed a 12yearold girl as she walked in a crosswalk in Castro Valley. Ktvu has allie rasmus live with information that chp is sharing about that investigation. Reporter chpinvestigators say there is clear Surveillance Video from a neighbors Security Camera showing clearly what happened with this tragedy at 3 30 yesterday afternoon. A 12yearold girl was walking home from school with her older sister and the chp said the girls were less than a block from their home at crow canyon. They were crossing the street when a black ford f150 truck struck the child in the crosswalk. She died at the hospital and security video shows the driver initially stopped after the crash, looked out his window and then drove off after the collision. Absolutely senseless. Some individual hit somebody and they knew they hit somebody and to watch them in the roadway, they left a little girl to basically suffer in the roadway by herself and that is selfish. Reporter chp investigators have pretty strong clues as to who this driver may be, saying the Surveillance Video from several neighbor cameras capture the license plate. Anne kirkpatrick claims her dismissal by the Police Commission may be out of retaliation. She sat down with Cristina Rendon from ktvu to talk about next steps. Cristina rendon joins us in the studio. Reporter she said she believes this may be out of retaliation, in part, for not fixing towing tickets for a member of the Police Commission that fired her. She said she is a woman of integrity and has no regrets but is weighing Legal Options to fight the termination. I was hired three years ago and given a mandate to reduce crime first and foremost. I stabilized the Police Department and restored trust and healing. Reporter youve done those things . I not only met them, theyve been exceeded. Reporter is oakland worse off or better off . Oakland is safer than when i came. However, my termination, i think, it has created a great deal of damage that was not calculated, in terms of culture change. Im truly and deeply concerned that we have been, under 17 years, with federal oversight, its wrong. Im going to be asking the department of justice to open an inquiry. Reporter mayor libby schaafs office provided a thank you to kirkpatrick for her service and did not address the retaliation but said the Police Commission exercised its full power with the unanimous vote and its the mayors duty to determine when the trust between the Police Commission and the police chief was lost and to prevent oakland from moving forward. Kirkpatrick plans to address the members of the Police Department before going back to seattle this week. What did she say about her relationship with mayor libby schaaf . New this morning, two are in custody, accused of driving into two people on a sidewalk and then hitting a san Francisco Police car. It started at 9 30 last night after a man and woman were inside the car yelling and threatening people on the street. It was mainly the homeless. The car ended up on a sidewalk near haight and ashbury. They drove on the sidewalk and struck two pedestrians on the street, two homeless individuals. They were received with non lifethreatening injuries. Officers spotted the car and then the driver hit a patrol car and the man and woman were eventually arrested. Sara zendehnam has the latest and we will check in with her in our next hour. A horrific story and hopefully, the Highway Patrol will be helped because they are searching for a hitand run driver that killed a 12 yearold girl in Castro Valley. It happened at crow canyon at about 3 30 yesterday afternoon and the chp said the girl and her sister were in a crosswalk a few yards from their home and investigators said a black ford f150 pickup truck hit the girl and kept going.
