Welcome back to mornings on 2. A deadly plane crash in utah killed an 86yearold pilot. The pilot was 64yearold david good. The founder and president of good Speed Technologies in ogden, utah. Meantime the faa is still investigating after a Delta Airlines flight crew dumped jet fuel on schools near Los Angeles International airport. The plane was on its way to china on tuesday when it had engine problems and tried to turn back and land at lax. Radio transmissions indicated the pilot started dumping fuel before they landed but they didnt follow federal guidelines by not telling air Traffic Control about it. Procedures call for dumping fuel over unpopulated areas and a high enough altitude so the fuel can break apart before it reaches the ground. However, that fuel hit five Elementary Schools and one high school and about 60 people down on the ground became ill. A 68yearold woman is recovering this morning. Paula beth james had not been seen since last thursday. A butte county found her truck buried in snow. The sheriff said she was in the backseat wearing jeans and a jacket and had used floor mats to help keep herself warm. They officially thought because there was no response to them hovering in the area that it was likely that they were going to find her deceased, but when they got there, they were pleasantly surprised thats probably an understatement to find her alive in the vehicle. The Sheriffs Department says james suffers from dementia. It appears she was without food or water for a day or two. The snow is also causing issues for people who live in the remote regions of the pacific northwest. Now people are doing just about anything to stay warm. Ive been up here all my life.
