Eastbound 80 at American Canyon on the way to being a cleared up at this point. The lanes are back opened as tow trucks responded to the scene earlier 3car crash now in very much in the clearing stages. Bay bridge toll plaza traffic is light as well. Metering lights not turning on today at least not yet. We dont expect them to. They have not been on during the morning commute. All this week. 7 02 now back to the desk. Thank you. A 6yearold vallejo boy spent christmas in the hospital after he was shot by a stray bullet. Gunfire started about 6 30 tuesday night. An area on ohio and mariposa streets off interstate 80. Neighbors say they heard morethan a dozen gunshots. Some bullets hit homes. Boy was with family at the time what bullet hit him in the upper body. He was driven to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. You is posed supposed to be wake up and opening up presents and eating food and being around people he loves but he is in at hospital. I pray and hope that his family can recover from this because this is unacceptable. Vallejo police have not announced whether they believe it was an act of one gunman or multiple shooters. Vallejos mayor says he has been in communication with the police chief about the shooting and they are working on a Violence Reduction program for that particular neighborhood. Back to developing news a late night crash near pleasanton that left three teens dead and two with serious injuries. Ktvu alyssa has new information to bring us from the chp. Reporter good morning. Thats right. You can see the road remains closed and thats because pg e is on scene repairing a power line. Chp told us that there were five teenagers in this car. Two were brothers, one a cousin of the brothers, and the others friends. Family members came to the scene last night. Its terrible. Its just pretty much your Worst Nightmare and never want to see on the job. Reporter the chp says the driver of a hyundai sedan was traveling southbound on foothilroad crossing into northbound lanes and veered into a power pole and slammed into a tree. Three males were found trapped inside the vehicle. They were all pronounced dead at the scene. Two others a male and a female, were ejected. They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. This particular roadway is a twolane country roadway one northbound and one southbound lane divided by a double yellow lane striping. This particular portion of the road, there is a slight curve prior to the collision scene. Whether or not that played a part in the collision, still under investigation at this time. But, as is your typical two lane country road. Reporter the cause of the crash remains under investigation. All those in the vehicle were from the dublin area. No names have been released. These were all teens. Chp says they were under the age of 18. We are not sure what high school they went to, but, again a. Very tragic scene. What we know is pg e is still out here making repairs and they plan to be out here until late this afternoon maybe until 4 p. M. So expect the road to be closed until then. Reporting live near pleasanttonon, elissa harington. Police are investigating a mysterious death finding aunconscious man in the street. He was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police checked into whether he was hit by a car but investigators say they ruled out a Traffic Accident as the cause of death. They are considering it homicide. This was san joses 33rd homicide of 2019. There were 27 last year and 34 the year before that. Today the four mothers who took only a vacant home are due in court. They and their children moved in last month. They say it had been vacant for years but wedgewood a Real Estate Investment company that bought the house in july evicted the families earlier had month a. Oakland Community Land trust offered to buy the home and rent it to the mothers, but an attorney for the mother says the company wont negotiate. And now at least one republican senator alaska senator Lisa Markowski told tv station she has concerns about comments majority leader mcconnell made about coordinating everything about the trial with the white house. More than 20 new state laws go into effect on the first day of the new year. One of them is the gig worker law which reclassifies independent contractors including ride share drivers as employees. The law was approved to make sure those workers are at minimum wage and get paid sick days and health insurance. But not all independent contractors like the law. Including many free lance musicians and journalists. Recently independent Truck Drivers and free lance journalists filed separate lawsuits to have the law overturned. Another now law will bump the minimum wage in california up to 13 an hour for companies that have at least 23 employees. Workers in Smaller Companies will see their minimum wage increase to 12 an hour. By the year 2023, california workplaces regardless of the number of employees will have to pay at least 15 an hour. And several bay area cities will start with 15 an hour. Belmont and minimum low park will raise their wages. Petaluma and South San Francisco will bump up the pay to 15 for large employers and 14 an hour for smaller ones. San mateo minimum hourly wage is 15 and thats increasing to 15. 38 come january 1st. 7 08 your time. Park rangers are trying to figure out circumstances of a visitors death. A marin county fire cant says the victim was killed by falling debris late tuesday afternoon in the hillside trail area. Chp says a woman was killed in fourcar crash on westbound interstate 80. Honda civic spownt and stalled near gillman street exit. Three others car hit the civic. People are being told to stay off the beaches and coastal jetties in San Francisco and monterey bay areas. Most dangerous conditions are at ocean and marina state beach. Warning has been extended according to meteorologists until 9 tonight. Perhaps a good day to view but not put your toes in the water. Yeah. Its one of the deals when ever you go to the coast you see a few more people out there on a day like today. And they might be stepping out too far on rocks. So just keep that in mind. And happening today a group of mothers who took over a vacant home in oakland will all be in court today. Ktvu Sara Zendehnam has details on the hearing. Reporter good morning. Those four moms say they didnt have a safe place to go with their kids and moved into a vacant home in oakland. Today, they will be in court in hayward for an eviction hearing. Wedgewood Real Estate Investment company and owner of the property served them an eviction notice on december 3 d but they didnt leave. The women filed a claim of right to possession to delay the eviction until the court scheduled the hearing. That hearing is expected to happen at 9 this morning. Heres some background. The working moms moved into the empty house in west oakland with their kids in november. They said no one lived there for years and they needed a place to stay. But wedgewood bought the house in july and evicted the moms. Now they are heading to court and facing eviction orders. But they have support from some Oakland City Council members. These women are brave. These women are take urgent action because of the crisis that they are personally experiencing. The crisis of Housing Affordability and homelessness impacting the city and the state. Reporter the attorney representing the women says the oakland Community Land trust offered to buy home and rent it to them but the Attorney Says the Real Estate Company wont negotiate with them. A Company Spokesperson says this is a straightforward case of illegal entry and illegal occupation. Wedgewood asked James Washington former nfl super bowl champion to help. He is the founder of nonprofit shelter 37. Washington said he will partner with wedgewood to renovate the house and employ at risk youth from oakland. One the renovation is done they will sell it to a first time home buyer with profits split 5050 with the nonprofit. Washington is asking them to leave on their own. A man accused of killing the brother of cj beathard is behind bars. 23yearold Michael Mosley is being hold without bond and a 5 Million Dollar bond for attempt homicide. He was taken into custody yesterday. Investigators say he made wontsed advances towards a woman who was a friend of beathard a fight broke out and mosley stabbed beathard and another man to death and wound another. Cj will remain with his family a funeral is set for saturday. A man suspected of arson in Southern California is due in court. He is accused of starting 10 wild fires that bender along the shore of a reservoir. The fires were set between late september through november and mejia is accused of sneaking into the foothills hiking from the back of private property. Authorities say the fires endangered protected sensitive species. A woman in San Francisco found her way to bring a Little Christmas cheer to People Living out on the streets. And not only with the rainfall, the intense rainfall but snow in the mountains of Southern California. So things are starting to at least clear out just a little bit. Not completely clear just yet. But looks like some improvement over the past couple hours in Southern California. For us, we have clouds streaming into the bay area. A bit of green on the radar over the past few hours. Bulk of this not reaching ground but we have the possibility of sprinkle or light shower in the south bay. Just over the next hour or two. We think it would dramatically transform the way college paid is paid for. Reporter he says with more companies matching 401k contribution americans on smaller incomes are saving money. He says letting them reduce that now creates opportunities to save more in the future. This still encourages savings so it doesnt work unless you put aside savings. Reporter critics say the idea only helps a certain class. It would be a win for people who have a lot of money and can take an extra tax break by investing in the 401k first and then taking it out tax free. People in this vehicle are standing outside after the tires blew out, they are standing near the center divide. Dont do that. If you can, unless your vehicle is on fire, stay in your car after a crash. It is the safest place to be. Moving on, 880 in oakland, it looks pretty good. The drive all the way into downtown oakland and the 880 all the way down to san mateo is clear as well. Here is the Golden Gate Bridge. Devastation in the east bay for one family as two brothers are among three People Killed in a crash in pleasanton. It happened last night on foothill road here that is where elissa harringtons life. Reporter pg and e is still on the scene repairing that power line, trying to get power back to this entire area. You can see the road closure. We got a chance to get closer to the same if we could pull up that video. This happened right past the country club. What we know as there were five teenagers in the car, two were brothers, when a cousin, the other friends. Family members came out to the scene last night. It is just terrible. Pretty much your Worst Nightmare. Something you never want to see from your child. Reporter the driver of the hunt accident was traveling southbound on foothill road when it crossed into the northbound lane, slammed into a powerboatpower pole and then a tree. They were all pronounced the dead at the scene. Two others, a male and female were ejected, they were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. This particular roadway, it is a two lane country roadway. It is divided by a double yellow lane stretching. This particular portion of the road, there is a slight curve prior to the same. Whether or not they played a part in the collision is still under investigation. It is a two lane country road. Reporter we got a chance to get closer to that same year there was broken glass all over the brought golf course. The cause of this crash remains under investigation. The chp said there is no clear indication that alcohol may have played a part. Of course, they are looking into any possibilities. All of those who were in the vehicle are from this area are the chp believes at least some of them were from the dublin area. The names at this time have not been released. Elissa harrington, ktvu fox 2 news. A 6yearold vallejo boy spent in the hospital after he was shot by a stray bullet. The gun fire started about 6 30 tuesday night in the area of ohio and mariposa street. Neighbors say they heard more than a dozen gunshots. Some of the bullets actually hit some of the homes there. The boy was with his family when a bullet hit him in the upper body. He is currently in critical condition. You are supposed to be waking up on Christmas Morning, opening a presence, eating food, being around people we love. He is in the hospital. I really pray and hope his family can recover from this. This is definitely unacceptable. Vallejo police have not announced whether or not you believe the shooting was an accident. While the government or multiple sugars is not known. The mayor says he has been in communication with the police chief about the shooting and they are working on a pilot production for that particular neighborhood. To oakland where police are investigate a shooting that injured four people at a holiday party. Police were called to the scene just after 6 00 last night. When they arrived, they found three men and one woman had been shot. They were sent to the hospital in serious conditions. Investigators have not commented on a possible motive and have not said if they know of any suspects. Officers found a man unconscious in the street at east santa clara and south 24 street. He was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police are checking whether he was hit by a car. Investigators ruled out a Traffic Accident as the cause of death. Surveillance footage here shows two people entering a church distracting a cleaning lady. They simply walk off with a large collection box. The box was filled with money from selling holiday candles. The proceeds were going to be used to buy toys for the kids in the congregation at a celebration in january. A family in San Francisco celebrated the return of their dog. We have Surveillance Video that shows a woman grabbing a French Bulldog christmas afternoon in the Bernal Heights neighborhood. The family says they had just returned from buying groceries when they noticed lola usually follows them to the door, but was not there. We were shocked. We never thought Something Like that could happen. It is something that we do hundreds of times during the year, going in and out of the house with lola following us. Many people make ice skating a holiday tradition at one of the various outdoor skating rinks at the San Francisco union square, 250 skaters can be on the ice at one time. A texas family is spending the holidays in the city and says skating under the stars will be a highlight of their vacation. To peninsula lawmakers say they will push for several bills that will reduce noise from planes arriving and leaving San Francisco national airport. People have complained for years now about the noise. San mateo congresswoman, Jackie Speier rights, quotes none noise from the flights affects sleep and overall quality of life. They said the airport generates more than three quarters of 1 billion a year in revenue. They say the impact of that money is felt across the entire bay area. More than 20 new state laws go into effect on the first day of the new year. One is the worker law, that is reclassifying some independent contractors, including ride share drivers as employees. The loan was approved to make sure those workers are minimum wage and gave them paid sick days and health insurance. But, not all independent contractors like the law, including many freelance musicians and journalists. Recently, independent truckers and journalists bowed several separate lawsuits to have that law overturned. The new law will increase minimum wage to 13 an hour for companies that have at least 26 employees. Workers at Smaller Companies will see their minimum wage increase to 12 an hour. By 2023, all california workplaces, regardless of the number of employees will have to pay each employee at least 15 an hour. Several bay area cities will start this year with the minimum wage up 15 an hour already. Belmont will raise their minimum wage across the board. Petaluma, South San Francisco will pop up a two 50 for larger employees, 14 for smaller ones. San mateos hourly wage is already at 15. That is up to 15. 38 on new years day. Firefighters in petaluma are being praised for rescuing a dog trapped in a fire. The homeowners later returned and broke a sliding glass door, they could not rescue the other dog. Firefighters arrived and found the second dog in the bathroom suffering from smoke inhalation. They fitted it with a special dog oxygen mask and saved his life.
