The Berkeley Humane Society will be delivering pets to families who are able to adopt last week and it is part of the santa paws event. Berkeley humane has found homes for more than 600 kittens. Last monday over 60 were flown to the bay area to help relieve kitten overcrowding at a shelter in Southern California. They are the sweetest. Allie i know youve been there. They have the windows with the puppies and kittens that you can adopt. That could be dangerous. You might end up going home with all of them. South bay advocates are warning everyone that there are extra shelter beds as well as daytime and overnight Warming Centers during this cold and wet weather. Emergency Service Workers are adding extra beds to mountain view, sunnydale, and Santa Clara County is also setting up daytime Warming Centers at libraries, Senior Centers and community centers. Those are set to stay open until december 30. They could be extended if the cold weather does continue. We think it is in the best interest of the county to get out of the sports business. And in a responsible way. Supervisors they will be as for housing, healthcare and other core services. The athletics will have 190 days to review the stadium, arena and nearby properties. Then the deal will be finalized. They will also pay roughly 5 million a year in operating costs. We are investing in oakland. In Alameda County and we are doing that because we do believe in this community. Weve been here 52 years we want to be here hundred more years if not forever. Before the decision mixed reviews. Mainly worry over rising housing costs and gentrification. We need to be concerned about those individuals currently in the city and how it will affect whether or not they are able to remain in the city. This is an opportunity for us to perhaps develop something that may be good for the community. Supervisors agree that doing nothing is a bad idea. And efforts will be made to include east oakland neighbors. I cannot see a downside. The athletics are looking to strike a deal with the city of oakland which owns the other half the coliseum complex. And to postpone a new ballpark in Jack London Square the Howard Terminal terminal. We just one move forward and get a deal. Getting construction underway and the new ballpark open. Weve been talking about things for a long time and we want to actually get a shovel on the ground. Ensure that the community is protected and that the entire development is not restricted. The shiva oakland needs to decide if they want to work with the as on a future plan for the coliseum complex.
