Paul chamber spoke to some of the evacuees. Bill martin has been monitoring the wind conditions but first we begin with amber lee live in geyserville with the latest on the firefight. Amber. Reporter julie, were on red winery road where homes have been destroyed. Whats left of this home is a water heater, stove and a car but not much more. Strong dry winds gusting 60 Miles Per Hour and more fuel add fast moving fire that forced thousands from their home in wine country. A text alert around 615 thursday morning followed by police knocking on the doors of homes woke up the people of geyserville. Scary. There were explosions too, flames. Reporter Sonoma County sheriff says all evacuation orders remain in effect. Once you leave an area you will not be allowed back in. That is for your safety and that of the firefighters. Reporter cal fire says there are more than 1300 firefighters on the line and that number is expected to increase by 50 by friday. One family says theyre in limbo. I dont know when theyll let us go in. Reporter they plan to stay with relatives and they say theyre worryed the fire could damage their home. The good news is that there are no reports of injuries or deaths. That certainly is good news. Amber lee inside the fire zone. Chief meteorologist bill martin joins us now with the latest on the Current Conditions near the fire. Yeah, good news and bad news. Right now the wipeds are light, temperatures have dropped in the fire zone and some of the number, 4mile an hour winds, a lot of on shore winds. Theyre not necessarily strong offshore so we still have a wind up on one of the ridge lines up to 17 Miles Per Hour and hills burling hills up to 20 but the winds have laid down in comparison to last night. The bad news is were getting back into it saturday and sunday and thats why there is a fire weather watch in all the same spots. This will turn into a red flag warning saturday night. The winds on this one are going to be more robust, more widespread. If you notice, east bay valley, east bay hills, 55mile an hour marker, this is covering a lot larger area than what we experienced with the last red flag warning yesterday. A larger area and longer lived. They want to mop this fire up as best they can because when winds come up theyll be ferocious. Thousands of people were forced to evacuate their homes because of the kincade fire and approximate many of them have crowded into Evacuation Centers in Sonoma County. Paul chambers went to the hills burg commune tip center and talked to people who say these fires are just the new normal. Reporter flames from the kincade fire can be seen from miles away. The sheriffs came through with siren, bull horn, evacuation, leave now. Reporter she and her family packed up their home in geyserville and came to the evacuation center. I wanted to go back and get my jewelry box, my dads wedding ring and they wouldnt let me go back in. Now they told me the house is gone. Reporter this is all that remains of her home in geyserville. The fire destroyed it and others. Cal fires most re sent numbers say 49 structures as the fire furnitured 16,000 acres leaving two thousand under evacuation orders. Overnight well have 26 deputies protecting the neighborhoods that have been evacuated. Reporter right now the sheriff says all evacuation orders remain in place. The good news is he says as of right now no casualties, no injuries and no one reported missing. Paul, thank you. Pg e acknowledges an outage in a high voltage line of the kincade fire. They say it happened around 9 20 last night on a transmission tower near where the fire started. This more thanking pg e worker spoke to a cal personnel at the site who pointed out a broken piece of quip many on the fire. Pg e said the line had not been deenergized before the fire although lower voltage lines were turned off. They did not meet the conditions we forecast for transmission level outages. We didnt see the wind speeds in the forecast that we typically would see for transmission outage. Pg e says that tow irhad been inspected four times in just the past two years. It appears to have been in secretarily inspected so well have to wait for the results of our investigation and cal fire to learn more about that. Pg e says cal fire has taped off an area around the base of the transmission tower pending an investigation. The utility says it doesnt know if the equipment sparked the kincade fire.
