Also today, Community Groups and advocates from immigrant groups are expected to sound off at this afternoons meeting of port of oakland immigrants. Thats after officials used the Oakland Airport as a launching point to remove undocumented immigrants from the country. I. C. E. Chartered nearly 2,000 flights out of oakland, carrying more than 40,000 detained people. Advocates believe that violated the sanctuary policy. Happening today. But the judge called that policy inconsistent with current laws. So right now, its on hold until a lawsuit is settled. This morning, both democrats and republicans are claiming victory after the testimony of former special counsel robert mueller. I gather that you believe that knowingly accepting foreign assistance during a president ial campaign is an unethical thing to do. And a crime. And a crime. And theyre questioning, democrats focused on muellers findings that the Trump Campaign met several times with russian operatives. Republicans highlighted the part of muellers report that said there was no evidence of a direct conspiracy by the Trump Campaign. Its time for the curtain to close on the russia hoax. Cal fire is dealing with two wildfires in the bay area. One started just south of the calaveras reservoir. The fire was first reported at 5 30 last night in the Spring Valley neighborhood close to milipitas. Cal fire says it has burned 85 acres and d. There are or evacuations reported. But one building was damaged. Crews hope to have it completely contained by tonight. And in solano county, 183 acres have burned by the marsh view fire, south of cordelia. Now, skyfox flew over the flames as they ran up a dry hillside, near interstate 680. No homes are threatened right now. The fire is 60 contained. That area often gets a lot of strong winds. So right now, theres no word on when this fire might be fully contained. One homeowner in lake county said hes having a tough time, obtaining Fire Insurance for his property. Ktvu reports, the problem hes facing may soon be an issue for many in california. Since 2012, half of lake countys land masses burned. Mike spurton owns a home. The family insurance policy has just skyrocketed 80 . A hard pill to swallow. He and his wife want to buy another home there to live in. But getting insurance, near impossible. I have run into a literal brick wall. I have tried companies, numbering in the dozens and can find no one of any conventional Insurance Company that will insure the property. The only quote is from the california fair plan, controlled by a consortium of insurers. I have spoken with some that quoted me what a normal policy would be had they issued it. 1700 to 2100. Welcome back to mornings on 2. Surveillance videos at the center of a lawsuit, accusing Palo Alto Police of excessive force. As ktvus reporter jesse gary shows us, the officers are accused of roughing up a suspect and then lying about it in their police report. Its aimed at deterring this type of unlawful behavior. This dishonest behavior by the police. Attorney cody salfen lays out hundreds of pages a badge. This video from the rough arrest of gustalpho alvarez. They tried to conduct a stop. Because, according to the police report, the suspect was known to have a suspended license. The report says the suspect was seen driving in the roadway. But from the video. How do you know who is driving . Reporter alvarez makes a hand gesture and goes back into his mobile home. Condy leaves for a second and calls for backup. Then asks him to surrender. The sergeant grabs the suspect and with help throws him onto the hood of the car. Benitez report says officers move to make an arrest, since, quote, officer his two onview charges against him. Driving on a suspended license and now resisting officers. The report goes on to say, agent destefano and i put him on the hood of his car where he was handcuffed. No other force was used on alvarez. But the Surveillance Video shows officers punching alvarez, and slamming him face first into the cars windshield. Youre going to be bleeding a whole lot. Not a single one of those officers reported this incident properly. Not a single one of those officers adhered to the written policy about informing their superiors about use of force. They claimed officers deprived alvarez of his Fourth Amendment right against unlawful search and seizure. Palo alto police referred us to the city manager for comment. Which said in part, the Police Department has procedures to investigate allegations of misconduct and to hold officers accountable if misconduct is determined. Only Sergeant Benitez is on administrative leave. The others on their shifts. These officers have no business being peace officers. They are dishonest. Theyre violent.
