It is closed in both directions because of a police in to the scene to gather more information and bring us a live report later in the show. If youre going from the east bay to the peninsula the san mateo bridge is looking good at this hour. And 280 and san jose things here look pretty good. A pretty dark picture. Time now is 5 03. Lets go back to the desk. We are following a developing story after one person was killed in a freeway shooting in the south bay. It happened on northbound 680 between capital and atlantis avenue. Live at the chp office with the details of what we know happened. Good morning. This happened right on the border in san jose. And one of the officers who responded to this incident, what do you know this morning . So our officers received a call last night just after 10 00 p. M. As we arrived on scene, the initial officers who arrived on scene did find a vehicle in the northbound lanes of interstate 680 there was a male driver occupant in that vehicle appeared to have been struck by what looked to be gunfire. As we said he was unresponsive. Fire personnel and paramedics on scene tried to revive him, unable to do so, he was pronounced dead on scene there. We did have the freeway lanes closed for several hours as we tried to establish the scene. At this point we are now going over the information that we did have available and investigators will now start to work back and see if we can identify a suspect. Did you get information from witnesses about what may have occurred . Not at this time. Any idea who this driver was . Where he was going . We dont kno male approximat0 years old. Beyond that, hes currently we dont have that identifying information as that will be provided by the Coroners Office once the next of kin notification has been made. I was just on one that happened over the meeting. Do you have a message for the public . How should people feel driving out there on these freeways when were hearing about these over and over again . We dont have information that these incidents are related. We completely understand any time you hear about one of these incidents it can be concerning. A search is under way for a suspect involved in a highspeed chase and shootout with east bay authorities. Officers responded to a burglary call in hayward. Were told two men were spotted walking out of the back of a business. Officers chased the suspect through hayward and san leandro with the chase eventually ending in oakland. Several shots were fired in oakland. Were told one suspect was arrested and another is on the loose and that there is an active scene right now near 106th and bancroft in oakland. Well continue to gather information on that story and will bring you updates throughout the morning. The San Mateo Police are investigating a homicide near skyline boulevard close to reeds roost road. Skyline boulevard is closed to all traffic at bear gots road right now.
