San francisco is celebrating new state funding for the building of two new homeless Navigation Centers. They voted in support of two new facilities on caltrans property built at that them bryant and the other located at the vision circle. The Navigation Center will provide 250 additional beds for Homeless People as they look for jobs and housing. They let people bring partners and possessions and pets into the shelter. The mayor said the new center will build on the success of the program to help people restart their life. The streets and sidewalks are filled with people struggling with Mental Health challenges, drug addition and poverty. This cannot be the status quo. It cannot be the new normal. It is not something we will accept here in San Francisco. San francisco will lease the properties from the state for one dollar a year. Many of the homeless are hanging out outside of the site trying to figure out where to go. With 4300 homeless and 1800 beds there is few options. The students wish there was more they could do. They want to connect but dont know what to do. The idea they could help people bag up and cart things is great.
