This happened on southbound 88 zero, 880, the officer was working to keep the road safe when his patrol car was hit at high speed. We know that that driver left a Holiday Party before he got behind the wheel and the officer leaves behind a wife and three children. Joining us live from oakland. Here is henry. Reporter the body is now here at the coroners office. He was killed by a motorist who was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The same type of driver that he and his partner were trying to stop. Today is a tragic loss of one of our own. Reporter they were parked in their patrol vehicle on southbound 880 and they were rear ended by our red cadillac. There was an officer hit southbound 880. Officer down. Reporter the 22yearold driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. It is irresponsible and senseless in these acts need to stop. The officer that was in the passenger seat died. And the driver was treated and released and both officers were wearing their seat belts. The impact was so severe that it turned it into a compact vehicle. It gives you an idea of the speed that was involved. Reporter he was 33 years old and he had only been with chp for a year and three months. The officer lived in tracy with his wife and three children. The children were expecting his father their father to come home to open up christmas presents but he chose to work today. Reporter the honor guard is standing 24 seven over the officers body so he will not be alone. Funeral services have not been announced. He will be transferred to the jail. Governor jerry brown released a statement saying that we are deeply saddened to learn the loss of the officer while working to keep our community safe. We join his family, friends, and the entire Highway Patrol in mourning his death and honoring his sacrifice. The flags at the state capital are flown at half staff in honor of him. The earthquake struck late this morning, Officials Say that the earthquake struck at 11 50 am. No damage or injuries were reported. Two men armed with a knife raped her. The two men ran away. And now they are investigating another rate that happened on broadway, two blocks away and the victim was taken to the hospital and the suspect has been arrested and so far no other details have been released and the two cases do not appear to be related.
