Networks following the passage of this tax bill. The company also said it would give 200,000 employees a one time bonus of 1,000. And there was also another big announcement today from wells fargo. The San Francisco bank says its going to raise its minimum wage for employees to 15 an hour as a result of the tax bill. Wells fargo also said it plans to donate 400 million to nonprofit and Community Organizations next year. And on ktvu. New information tonight from the fbi about a gang bust in the east bay that ended with several arrests. Today we learned eight alleged members of that gang are under arrest facing charges ranging from gun violations to murder. Our Crime Reporter henry lee tells us Law Enforcement agencies from throughout Contra Costa County were involved in this operation. Reporter they called it operation klap it out after part of the gangs name. Eight gang members are behind bars but it wont stop there. These gangs need to start looking over their shoulders. Reporter at a News Conference they say members of gang are responsible for burglaries, shootings and pimping and prosecution. Court records describe how the men used phones and coded Text Messages to track their targets. This gang was specifically targeted because of the level of violence that theyre bringing into our community. Reporter investigators raided 11 locations in october. Recovered in these searches were several firearms including a fully automatic glock 23 with an extended magazine, ammunition, empty gun magazines. Reporter one of the men is charged with murder for killing an innocent victim in pittsburg in march. Boyd believed he had been disrespected and returned to do a driveby shooting striking his intended victim and then killing an innocent bystander. Ktvu has learned that tactical gear, ammunition, a fuel card and a lock box were all taken. In its statement, i. C. E. Said, quote, a vehicle belonging to u. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was broken into and the subsequent theft of items was reported to local police on december 18th in oakland. No firearms were stolen. Further queries regarding recovery of the items should be referred to the Oakland Police department. In just the last halfhour, negotiators convinced the person to come down safely and traffic began moving again. The incident began hours ago about 1 p. M. The chp responded to reports that a person was threatening to jump from the overpass connecting southbound 680 with southbound highway 101. This incident created massive traffic backups stretching about 8 miles on 680. But as you take a look at our live drive time traffic map, it has started to unwind after the person came down. He was a Strong Partner even when we disagreed on strategies and tactics, we would always come together to obtain more money for San Francisco to build housing and ask more from our developers and thats a legacy i plan to continue. His initiative to take 1,000 people off our streets, we have to make sure that that is a reality. Reporter kim also pointed to her Successful Initiative offering free tuition at city college. The program was paid for with an increase in the citys real estate transfer tax. The supervisor said San Francisco is a progressive city and a wealthy city that should give back. So as President Trump continues to cut our social safety net, San Francisco can invest in Community Housing and colleges and show the nation what it means to have a government thats about all of us and not just some of us. The other candidates in the race include a mix of veteran politicians and less well known names including former San Francisco supervisor Angela Alioto and others lodged breed and dennis her rare london breed and Dennis Herrara may also run. That experience help give her name recognition which will be a big asset in whats shaping up to be a very competitive race. Uber has named former ceo of orbitz as their new chief operating officer. Barney harfords responsibilities will include overseeing global operations, marketing and customer support. This comes as the top court in the European Union has ruled that uber should be regulated like a taxi Company Rather than a technology service. That means that uber will have to pay large licensing fees and employee benefits. Surprisingly decent for skiers. My son was up there at boreal and theres a ton of coverage up there on the mountain. So the ski resorts even though you think we havent had a lot of snow . Theyre doing well. In the old days if you made snow it would be one or two runs. Now theres numerous runs, like squaw has numerous runs open now. Didnt they stay open until july last season . Skiing on the 4th of july last year in squaw. Overall looking out towards the end of the year will we get more snow in the mountains i dont think so. Its all going to have to come in january. This year organizers hope to collect 500 happens. Last year they exceeded that goal with 562. Theres curbside dropoffs there. More than 500 toys were donated on purchased for this program. The Central Marin Police department is investigating an officerinvolved shooting after shooting and wounding a 23yearold man who was reaching for a gun in corte madera at 6 p. M. Last night when a man reported his brother had a gun and had threatened suicide. Thethe man thread and officers say he pulled a gun from the pocket of his sweatshirt. Officers shot him with a stun gun but it didnt work. Another officer shot him twice. Air witness said the man was shot in the hip. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not lifethreatening. In los gatos, an Early Morning Home Invasion lift homeowner injured and tonight suspects are behind bars. Ktvus ann rubin test us the authorities found him in modesto driving the victims stolen mers. Mercedes. Reporter Authorities Say it was a brazen crime, five people apparently breaking into this los gatos home about 4 a. M. , assaulting the homeowner and demanding valuables. Eventually, the thieves took off in the victims mercedes, the same car they were arrested in nine hours later. So currently right now, we have multiple individuals in custody. They actually recovered the victims vehicle, which was taken at the time of the Home Invasion in modesto. Reporter they recovered two firearms. They are trying to understand why this house was targeted. At this time its too early to tell. From what i have been told, the home was ransacked. So they definitely spent some time going through the home searching for valuables. Reporter investigators still arent sure that was taken. The homeowner, a man in his 50s, suffered a head injury but is now in stable condition at the hospital. And while authorities have made some arrests, they are still collecting evidence. Neighbors are being asked to check their surveillance cameras for suspicious activity over the last few days. Just told me there was a home breakin and that the concerned about my wife and fatherinlaw. The road was closed, the neighbors texting each other. You just i guess you dont expect in an area like this its just very frightening, very unsettling, very disturbing for everybody. President trump and republicans are celebrating their first legislative victory with a passage of a bill that makes sweeping changes to the tax code now on the president s desk. The legislation lowers the Corporate Tax rate from 35 to 21 . It lowers the top tier tax bracket from about 40 to 37 . Republicans say the changes will spur Economic Growth and create jobs. Democrats argue the bill will hurt the middle class. 11 governors are urging congress to save a program that protects immigrants from deportation. President trump decided to phase out the daca program leaving congress to negotiate a replacement. The governors say more than 12,000 dreamers have already lost their protective status and could be deported. Dreamers are young people who were brought here illegally as children. Reporter these protestors, many of them Illegal Immigrants brought to the u. S. As children, say they are fighting to stay in the country and urging democrats in washington to be their voice. [ screaming ] reporter meanwhile, republican and Democratic Senators working on an immigration deal say they are closing in on an agreement combining a Border Security package with deportation protections for some Illegal Immigrants, although a final resolution is not expected to come until january. She is also a democrat. A group of richmond kids got a free haircut today and tips on grooming thanks to some Richmond Police officers. As Paul Chambers reports, the events like todays can go a long way to create a better relationship between officers and the communities they serve. Reporter at a barbershop in richmond, 20 children ages from 9 to 17 were treated to a free haircut paid for by members of the richmond Police Department. When you look good, you felt good. The better you look, the better you are in the community. Reporter it was a partnership between rpd and the shop owner who reduced the price of the haircuts in the departments first time holding this class on grooming because they know firsthand times can be tough for a kid in the community. Im from richmond. And growing up here in richmond, i didnt always have everything. Everybody dont have money to get their haircuts most of the time because some people are struggling. Reporter all of the children are part of the Richmond Police athletic league. The outing was more than about just giving the kids free cuts. It was also about strengthening ties with the community. Officers say they were honored and achieved their goal of giving those here a more positive outlook on Law Enforcement. Some cops on tv, they, um, they shooting and killing us people. And most of em, most people that they kill are black. But most cops arent bad. This is our way to help them progress in life and show them that we the Police Department is not just here to enforce the law but to assist them in their future. Plus, reaction pouring in over the death of a controversial leader in the catholic church. Its a stain and a crack in the foundation of the vatican. Mexican prosecutors say a bus crash in southern mexico that killed 12 people was caused by excessive speed and the drivers negligence. Eight americans are among the dead. The tourists were from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship and were on the way to see ruins when the bus went off the road and flipped over. A local Police Official says the bus may have also had a flat tire. Royal caribbean has not released the names of the passengers yet. Two swedes and one canadian were also killed in the crash along with a mexican tour guide. Crews in washington continued working today to clean up all the wreckage left behind by mondays deadly Train Derailment. They used two tractors to move the 270,000pound locomotive. The state patrol says removing it will allow officials access to areas they couldnt reach before. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash. They say that the train was going at 80 miles an hour in a 30mileanhour zone when it went off the rails. But the engineer may have also been distracted. Today investigators talked about what was going on in the cab at the time of the crash. There were two people in the cab. The engineer and a conductor who was getting experienced and familiarizing himself with the territory. The actual conductor as there is one on every train was in the actual passenger section at the time of the accident. The amtrak cascades 501 was carrying 85 people from seattle to portland when it jumped the tracks sending several train cars off the overpass to i5 below. 3 people died, several dozen others were injured. Gymnast Mckayla Maroney filed a lawsuit against the United States Olympic Committee and usa gymnastics alleging that officials covered up sexual abuse. She signed a confidential settlement in december 2016 to resolve claims related to her alleged sexual abuse by team doctor larry nassar. Maroney is now seeking to nullify that agreement. Earlier this month, he was sentenced to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting several female gymnasts and possessing child porn. Reaction is coming in from around the world following the death yesterday of Cardinal Bernard law. He was the boston archbishop in 2002 when Court Documents revealed he had failed to stop priests who molested children. Instead, cardinal law and other Church Leaders moved the priests from parish to parish in massachusetts without alerting parents or police. Cardinal law resigned amid a public uproar. Reporter youre watching a 3yearold boys dream coming through. Gunnar church is battling leukemia but he was able to forget about that for a day. Reporter yes, it is his day started when a fire engine stopped at his home in napa, where he lives with his parents and sister. To see him and my daughter smile and laugh and, you know, get to be regular kids for a day, these huge. Reporter he got a uniform, had the run of the fire engine, made it safe, he tested a hose which his mom says he has always been fascinated by firefighters. When we had all the napa fires going on, he was very concerned about the Fire Department, if they were safe, if there was enough of them, if they were okay, did they know that the fire was hot . Reporter fortunately, gunnar was having a good day physically wednesday ever since his diagnosis last year at the age of 2, gunnar has been receiving chemotherapy regularly which often saps his strength and spirit. A few days ago, he didnt want to get off the couch. He didnt want to eat. He didnt feel good. Reporter a napa firefighter heard about him and organized the day for him and his sister. It will give us a cold morning and in the subsequent mornings and that means frost and freezing conditions. So if you have tender plants, you know, and then i actually have one. I cant remember what its called but it cant handle cold so you can take a garbage bag and stick it over the plant. That will hold in enough heat to keep the plant from freezing. So this is that kind of night. Now youre not going to have a problem in oakland but you are going to have problems in walnut creek and concord and up in Livermore Valley and areas like that.
