Talking about ads for recreational and commercial pot sales. It is already a ban for alcohol, tobacco and gun sales. It reserves the right to reject any ad that is overtly political or controversial in any way. City leaders say, as for marijuana sales, they are really no different. Including the mayor who made his opinion clear. It is from a handful of companies that will sell and deliver pot for use. You can see several ads on the side of muni buses for Companies Like urban farm and others. Muni has already 100 ads for the drug on muni vehicles and bus shelters throughout the city. People we spoke to this morning had different opinions about the impact of the adds. Tobacco, yes. Alcohol i did not know there was a ban on alcohol for advertising. Definitely, tobacco. For pot and alcohol, it is fine. I am for the idea of taking them off of the buses. Why . Kids. I think it is weird to see them on the buses. Reporter if the board votes in favor of a ban, the advertisements that are already up would continue to stay up. Adds already paid for would remain on the side of buses and bus shelters until the contract expires and then they would have to come down after that. Supporters of the ban point out that San Francisco city leaders have not decided exactly how they will license commercial pot vendors. So supporters of the ban of these ads argue that until the city figures that out, they should hold off on having these pot ads. The question of the day is on alies report as alcohol and tobacco are currently banned from buses. Should marijuana advertising be included on the ban . We will look at the results. 68 say yes. 32 say no. One says, well realize social media is the biggest form of advertisement which is free. In my opinion, there is no difference between the 24 and a tweet. It is about the decisions we make for ourselves. And others as madonna marijuana is medicinal and should not be included with alcohol and tobacco. I had somebody say, i cringe when i see them. And they may ban ads but they are not putting a ban on the smoking of weed on the bus. Illicit smoking. Okay. I see what you are saying. We will keep taking your responses today. We will share them with you at 9 30 a. M. Lawmakers preparing to investigate the response at the north bay fires. The San Francisco chronicle reports that state representatives will start to hold hearings next month to look into how First Responders actually responded to those fires. The state senator said the states mutual aid system may not be enough for the growing number of buyers each year. The hearings will look at why Sonoma County did not use cell phone alerts to warn residents of the fire. Any lawsuit in the former residents of a Senior Living facility in santa rosa saying the state the staff did not safely evacuate residents during the north bay fire. There was a building destroyed by the tubbs fire. More than 70 elderly and is a really residents were abandoned by Staff Members working the night. The families of two of the residents arrived and evacuated all the residents they could find using their own cars at. Californias Insurance Commissioners as homeowners that lost their homes and the wildfires have 24 months to collect payment. Insurance commissioner dave johnson said some companies brought in adjusters from out ofstate to handle the claims. They incorrectly told homeowners they only had six or 12 months to collect insurance payments. The fires destroyed or damaged more than 14,000 buildings and caused at least 3. 2 billion in insured losses. A month ago, darin white was demoted was promoted to fire chief. We spoke with the new fire chief about a number of hurdles his department is facing including suspicious construction fires and understaffing. [ cheering ] congratulations. You were recently sworn in. How has the transmission been . Busy. Darin white has spent 20 years and oakland. Last month, as the citys new fire chief. It has been one of them are difficult months i have seen. He is talking about suspicious construction fires this year. The fire on san pablo avenue that revealed the need for a fire inspection overhaul and of course, the deadly ghost of warehouse fire where the fire chief faced Harsh Criticism for going largely unseen in the aftermath. How would you have handled that situation . I hope i would continue to be strong. One of the conversations i had briefly with the former chief was i dont envy the situation you are in. And this is not your fault. When ghost ship happened, where were you . I just arrived on the scene right after the order was made to go defensive. And it was a day i will never forget. This past year, construction fires, ghost ship, staffing, inspections catching up on backlog inspections is your department overwhelmed . I would say we have had to adjust to a new reality. We have had to adjust to a variety of things i have not seen other local agencies have to adjust to in a compressed amount of time. I am trying to get everyone a perspective of looking ahead. A challenge many are still grappling with over the past. Controversies and all. In an exclusive jailhouse interview, two investigates said some new of the warehouses condition before the fire. In court documents, a firefighter admitted he had been to the ghost ship for a party. They did not want to shut us down. They came up those staircases and danced at a party the day after they put out a fire. I dont want to speculate. If a firefighter recognizes there is a danger or problem, they need to elevate it whether they are on or off duty. I dont want to speculate speculate on that. Officials released an internal menu revealing more hurdles for darin white. They include a historical Staffing Shortage and a backlog of about 1000 statemandated inspections. How do you take a proactive approach to catch up on those inspections . You are absolutely right. We have had the power to rise the inspection process. We had to balance that with the fact that we dont have a significant number of staff right now. In the next half hour, at least five members of the hose angels will be indicted on federal charges including murder, witness tampering and money laundering. Most members are part of the Sonoma County chapter and were arrested in santa rosa saturday. Although the indictment does not bring charges against the national organization, it describes how members of the Sonoma County chapter of hells angels have used the organization as a means to commit conspiracy. To commit murder and assault. The murder charge comes from a killing inside of the fresno trance of the seven angels clubhouse in 2014. We want to get that input from people and have them understand what it means to be truly oakland. I asked on twitter for some feedback. A lot of people are saying, how is this tied into the actual team does retaining players. Is this part of the whole thing . You get a new stadium. You are not doing revenue sharing. Are you going to be able to retain Young Players . So people have someone to get excited about to come see . That is the key. The key to signing players for longterm and making sure you can get a jersey and have it for 10 years. It provides us with the revenue stream and the capability to sign guys like matt olson or matt chapman to longterm deals. That is why we are so excited. How does this not alienate the community in and around the area . I think you have to work with all of the community groups. We are trying to do outreach to plan it in a way that is appropriate and responsible and solve the issues that currently exist. What are the issues of . You have traffic, parking and pedestrian safety. Making sure there is an Affordable Housing plan. We had a housing crisis in the bay area in oakland. All of those things could come out of this project. The last time we had the mayor on i feel like she has not given 110 support yet for this location. I know she wanted another location. How much do you want the mayor to say, dave, i am with you on this . How important is her voice . We need the empire the entire community to weigh in. Almost 90 of the people are aware of this project. Basically two out of every three are in favor of it. We need to get more outreach. More people need to engage on the project including the mayor. I have a question about attendance. Right now, sometimes the attendance is not very good. Do you think the new stadium will improve that for the long term . Not just for the first few months but Going Forward forever . That is one reason why it is critical to have a downtown walkable location. If you look at the best ballparks at t park, fenway park, the urban locations where people are living and working draw the most fans. That is why the peralta site is a perfect fit. According to the la times, he has not denied the allegations made by six additional women. Survivors of the Las Vegas Mass Shooting and the families of those killed are filing lawsuits. They were fired filed against mgm, and the estate of the keller. Five lawsuits were filed in los angeles yesterday. One is on behalf of the 450 victims hurt during the shooting. Two wrongful death lawsuits have been filed on behalf of two people killed. State prison officials said they will not request an autopsy on charles manson. Charles manson died at the age of 83 in a bakersfield hospital sunday with doctors saying he died of natural causes. The county coroner could still perform an autopsy. State Officials Say they dont think manson has any real any living relatives. And if nobody claims his body by next tuesday, he will likely be cremated. Manson had ties to the bay area. This morning, a san jose state Police Officer is recovering after being attacked by several men while he was on patrol at a campus overnight. Were live from downtown san jose with more on the story. Alex. Reporter good morning to you. The san jose state Police Officer will be okay. He was responding overnight to help a group of students who are being confronted by three young men who were not students here outside the hammer theater, just a block or so away from campus. This is actually operated by the university itself. As the officer responded, one of those young men punched the officer and attacked him. It led to a scuffle. In the end, there were three people hurt. Three patients does the original one with a broken nose two more. Reporter this happened just after midnight near third street. One man punched of the san jose state Police Officer repeatedly, including one blow to the face. The veteran sergeant called for backup and eventually, other officers, including officers from the city of san jose, were able to take three men into custody. Two of those men were injured in the process. One had to be tased. The other was hit with a baton. This morning, we spoke with a spokesperson for the San Jose State University. She tells me she is thankful that nobody in this case was seriously hurt. Our hearts go out to everyone involved in this incident. The three suspects are young men in their 20s. All of these people those we care about all of them. And we also are concerned about our officers. Reporter the University Says a 23yearold man is in custody accused of punching the officer in the face. He is facing assault charges. The two other men who were arrested overnight involved in the scuffle are facing charges of resisting arrest. The University Says all three of those men are suspected gang members. The injured officer has been with the San Jose State University Police Department for at least 25 years. He was treated at Valley Medical Center for injuries to his face. Jury deliberation is expected to begin today in the trial of the man charged with killing kate steinle on a San Francisco pier two years ago. Yesterday during the closing arguments, prosecutors said josi garcia was playing a secret game of russian roulette on the crowded pier where kate steinle was shut. Defense argued that he found the gun and had misfired. They say he panicked and threw the gun into the bay. The prosecution said that he lied repeatedly to investigators and never said that it was an accident. In the meantime, President Trump wants the Supreme Court to fully enforce his latest travel ban, saying it is in the nations security interest. Last week, a federal Appeals Court allowed a partial travel ban preventing people from several countries from entering the u. S. Unless they have a bona fide relationship with someone in the u. S. The full travel ban would add north korea and venezuela to the list. Also, it would eliminate the relationship exemption. A federal judge in San Francisco blocked President Trumps executive order to cut federal funding to sanctuary cities like San Francisco, oakland and san jose. The federal judge said the president s order was unconstitutional on its face. And that the president cannot set new conditions on funding that congress has already approved. San francisco and santa clara counties while the lawsuits. The white house appealed to the ninth Circuit Court in San Francisco. Dave cortez, the president of the Santa Clara County board of supervisors said this is a historic victory protecting residents of the county. And jurisdictions across the county from President Trumps unconstitutional abuse of power. San Francisco City attorneys said this is a victory for the American People and the rule of law. This executive order was unconstitutional before the ink on it was even dry. Both counties sued claiming more than 2 billion in federal funding was at stake. Those are some of your morning headlines. It is such a cool experience to see that. And this team has more celebrities than before. It is a little different. I would highly recommend that. It is a great way to understand where what the warriors are like everywhere. I think it was more the team moving to Oklahoma City and being called the thunder. Especially when it comes to thanksgiving, i think a lot of people count on seeing a number of familiar dishes on the table. A lot of them start with a cannabis or a stick of that or a handful of what other processed food. We are doing a lightened up version of the green bean casserole side dish. We are doing all of the familiar components. We are just not adding all that extra gunk we have olive oil heating up in the pan. We will sauti a Wild Mushroom mix. What is this mushroom . This is an oyster mushroom. You can do shiitake or regular button mushrooms. We will add some. Whatever herb i have in my garden or anything in particular . I like to pare the seasonings with the mushrooms. You can do rosemary or parsley. Normally, you have this type of seasoning on hand. We will let this cook down. Meanwhile, i have already blanched the green beans. They are nice and bright and green. We have gone ahead and boiled this with some salted hot boiling water. Then we shocked it in an ice water bath with some salt as well. We drained it. And of course you have to have that topper the french onions. We have soaked shallots and buttermilk. We have a flour mix over here that you can dump the shallots into. We have fried them. That is what they look like when they are done. And then on up to 75 in the fire. Some olive oil or canola oil. Then just line them on a paper towel and let them come to room temperature. Told them when they come out of the fire. That way they dont get soggy and they are seasoned. So you have crisp green beans. You have mushrooms you have reduced a bit. You do not swap this all together and bake it with a ton of cream. This is what it is. This is it. We will let everything come together. And just blend the flavors. When we are done, you top it onto your favorite serving dish. And then you can leave the fried onions on the side to make this a vegan dish. But you dont have to worry about adding all the extra stuff. You dont have to worry about open space either. Oven space is a premium on thanksgiving. As that cooks, let me talk about the other favorites. I am in charge of the bread stuffing on my familys thanksgiving thursday. I am all for the bread stuffing. Mashed potatoes. This salad is something that could be very good for vegetarians or vegans. Yes.
