Around 1 30 yesterday afternoon near beach street here in concord. Just a block away from the high school. The team was with his friends and after a brief argument a passenger in a car got out of the vehicle and opened fire. That wounded teen jumped the fence back onto campus. He collapsed on the School Grounds and a janitor and others found him and called for help. Several other kids were in the area when that shooting took place and they cant believe it happened. Police have no indication this was nkang related. He was a good kid. If there was anything crazy. He we dont doing in stupid. We believe he was targeted by the passenger of this vehicle getting out and walking up to him. Then firing several rounds at him. The gunman had been Court Martialed in 2012 on charges he assaulted his wife and stepson. He was sentenced to 12 months confinement because of that and i got a bad conduct discharge in 2014. That criminal record was not entered in to the National Database by the air force base officials where he was stationed. If the gunmans Court Martial conviction had been entered in to the base he would have not been able to purchase four guns over the past four years. The other three were used in sundays shooting the air force and the department of defense are investigating how that mess take was made. In the man time the people are trying to heal and seek comfort in one another. More than a hundred people which is about 20 of the towns population gathered for a vigil. Reporter the inpaints accused of a violent Armed Robbery remain on the run after a daring escape yesterday. They bolted out of the doors of the palo alto courthouse here on grant avenue and they hopped right into a waiting get away car. Authorities say that the two both were in handcuffs inside the courthouse being escorted by a sheriffs deputy when they made a break for it. They initially drove off in a red toyota camry but ditch that car a few block away and got into a uhaul van at that point and then took off. They havent been seen since. The Sheriffs Office said is that one of those inmates managed to remove his handcuffs inside the courthouse. They found a handcuff key on the ground just outside of the courthouse. Authorities say this was all a very well organized escape plan. I think what it speaks more to is the level of these inmates and the brazenness and what they would be willing to do to escape. Reporter the two were in court for a hearing yesterday. The men are charged with Armed Robbery at a verizon store. During that hold up they are accused of tying up the employees and locking them in the bathroom before stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of phones and other items. These two men are considered dangerous according to authorities. If anyone spots them dont go near them. Just put in a call to the police. A north bay wildfires, many have been critical against the Emergency Alert system. Now Sonoma County Officials Say that system will be getting a much needed upgrade. This past week the ftc ruled all wireless carriers will be required to target areas where cell phones would get Emergency Alerts. In the wildfires only those with land lines got the alerts.
