Police officers uncovered any legal bird fighting ring and more than 20,000 in stolen property at a house in santa rosa. Police say in march 22,000 worth of items was stolen during a storage burglary. Officers arrested audrina mike peters on one count of grand theft for that crime, detectives searched her home and found 1000 game birds they believe are being raised to fight Sonoma County Animal Services helped remove the birds as well as 5 malnourished horses and 2 dogs. A Bounty Hunter has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting. Newark police is confirming that 49 yearold agent Charles Price of forest hill and a bail bond agent. Police say in march turner did not appear in court while felony weapons charges were pending, which made him a fugitive. Now the Bounty Hunter has been charged with one count of seconddegree murder. A santa rosa man convicted of murder was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. One Antonio Martinez confessed to killing a man in the windsor area in june of 2022. And after killing the victim, martinez attempted to pose as a kidnapper and extort the victims girlfriend for more than 100,000. He was eventually arrested and confessed leading investigators to the body. The District Attorneys Office says the actions for martinez warranted a potential life sentence and theyre pleased with the judges verdict. The governor says will protect key programs. One he acknowledges comes with its challenges. This is a this is a sizable deficit. Verner gavin newsom. Theyre not mincing words about his proposed budget for the coming fiscal year budget that per newsom comes with a projected 27. 6 billion dollar deficit. That figure is much more optimistic than that of the nonpartisan legislative Analysts Office or who earlier this year projected the state faces a 73 billion dollar deficit. Newsom believes that projection was way off because he anticipates the state will take in more tax revenues than previously anticipated to balance the budget. Newsom says hes taking action on several fronts, including the withdrawal of more than 12 billion dollars from the states reserves over the next 2 years. Hes also proposing more than 18 billion dollars reductions for programs on broadband access, water, storage and state and local public Health Departments. He also plans to save hundreds of millions of dollars in what he describes as belt tightening. That includes a proposal to freeze the filling of about 10,000 vacant state. Jobs what i want to know. But the alternative, the you know, we can we can eliminate our expansion health care. We can eliminate wages. We can limit. We do furloughs into layoffs. We can do a lot of things i want to do those things. As for whether he plans to raise taxes. The governor flatly said no on Spending Priorities. Newsom said homelessness, climate and education are at the top of his list. In fact, he says the state is on pace to spend more than 23,000 per student.
