Several cars torched by an encampment fire in the mission this is just one of 3 fires to break out along or near stevenson street in less than a week. I think its a big deal because theyre getting worse. Business owner deseret barrera says shes been complaining to the city about encampment fires for months. Her fears were realized when her black bmw was destroyed last friday, adding insult to injury, people were seen rummaging through barreras badly burned car, especially in scary and individuals who are causing the fires are still outside. They havent been asked to leave. And theyre still there. With all of their equipment on monday. Just days after barreras car was charred, another fire torched several more vehicles on the same block. Its not normal to not feel safe when you start addressing the smaller problems that are starting to escalate into bigger problems and its like were not being seen at all at the lower level. Barrera says these fires could have been prevented if city leaders would listen and take action. She believes Business Owners and unhoused people are being failed. I just like its important to be addressed, especially if i plan to still run a business here. And to still live here. Because i definitely am not happy with the current situations. I dont think a lot of people reporting in San Francisco. Dan thorn kron. 4 news. Okay, live look outside on this friday here. Looking at the clouds from our view on top of mount tam tam higher than the clouds. Thats a pretty shot and it is much cooler out there that it was this time yesterday. Meteorologist grogan in the Weather Center now. How much of a drop from yesterday to today because it is dropping alert there, but i want to start with where we were yesterday. How high we got. If youre wondering, we had some record setting heat out there. So spots like pittsburgh up to 97 degrees. 93 in livermore, 96 up at the Sonoma County airport. That was a record yesterday. 88 at sfo, a downtown San Franciscos a little less than that. Our official gauge for downtown San Franciscos not functioning right now. So i dont have the that unfortunately, 68 own half moon bay. You can see im out and you got up to about 90 for these are the daily records that were broken. I mentioned the one at the Sonoma County airport that broke a record from just last napa hit 95. That broke record from 1933. San jose hit 93 richmond, 92. And as i mentioned sfo, that was a record for them. They beat last year for the daily record from 2022. So it was warm out there. Certainly the clouds are with us in many parts of the bay right now. And were seeing that as we take a look. The Transamerica Pyramid here in San Francisco and temperatures are certainly a lot cooler than they were yesterday. So right now are 65 in San Francisco. 64 oakland and just some low 70s in spots that were handling 90s. Yesterday, you can see out of half moon bay, just 59 degrees. This is the difference in temperatures from 24 hours ago to now. So if youre in napa over, they had recordsetting heat, 19 degrees cooler. Thats a big difference. And that with this what the marine layer will do for winds relatively calm, started. Get that on shore flow back last night right now are about 14 miles out and fairfield. Thats a bit of a delta breeze happening there. And highs today will be limited. No doubt about it. San francisco looking out for 63 some mid to upper 70s up in the north bay. Couple of low 80s likely in the inner east bay and the inner but a lot of nice 70s around the bay. Ill be back in a little bit. Well talk more about our weekend. We have a chance of rain coming our way. Back to good to not. Thank you. Kyla. Caltrain closing a section of south on 87 and as san jose this week, well tell you why this week, well tell you why and how you can get around it. Estado dorado always in that state of mind living on a high vibration so hot gonna make it melt and im lovin what im tastin que bonito lugar lleno de tanto sabor so much flavor un future brillante se acerca ahhhhhhh nos gusta mezclar como malteada aqui hay lugar yeah we livin in the golden state dame mas, fresco y real wooh dale gas vive en el Estado Dorado happening tonight in the south bay, a major road will close for the entire weekend. The southbound lanes of highway 87 in san jose will be shut down for a repaving project kron fours will tran in san jose with those details. Highway 87 is moving just fine. No problems. But the clock is ticking on commuters because come 9 oclock tonight, you will not be able to go southbound, which is the nearest lanes to us northbound. On the other side, you will not be impacted because that took place in september. Were talking southbound direction. And if youre going to the airport, dont worry about it. It will not cover that stretch of highway 87 caltrans. They decided instead of just doing overnight work many times they decided lets just get it done one time. So over the weekend, southbound will belong to them all the way until monday. At 5 oclock in the morning, they will pave the roadway also work on the offramps. The on randes, the intersections proved that with the shelf life being about 20 years for them to do it once again. The meantime, that will be inconvenient to heres what you need to know. Heres a map on how you get around it. Fortunately, its the weekend and not as busy as the week day, especially during the morning commute. But still thousands of people will have to go around the work. So if youre going southbound, you want to get off on 2. 80, a lot of people use 87 to connect to 101, used to 80 and then connect to 101, in that particular stretch. If you want. But if you want to reconnect on, 87 will have to take the surface streets drive around. It were talking from julian to blossom hill road and then reconnect after that. And then you will continue on 87 caltrans. They did put a hard deadline believing that they will finish this by monday at 5 oclock just in time for the morning commute, caltrans usually puts a date, but oftentimes they finish even before scheduled date. So dont be surprised that reopens sometime in the overnight hours before 5 oclock. A live look outside as we talk about our weather forecast. Heres whats happening at San Francisco international airport. Kind of see some clouds coming in. It is much cooler out there today than it was yesterday. And meteorologist kyla grogan joins us now live from the Weather Center. Its like what happened . Well, what do you say to people . What always happens . The marine layer comes back in and it changes our weather pattern. We get that on shore flow. One of the things that hasnt changed, though is we do still have some dangers out at the coast. Surface really while the last 2 days and today we do not have the high advisory, but we do have whats called a beach hazard statement. And that is because we do still have that heiser threat of sneaker waves and rip currents out there. So you do not want to turn your back on the ocean. And certainly its not a great day to be out of the coast because we do have the marine layer. And but let you know this is through late tonight until about 02 00am. Theyre expecting the search remain dangerous. So just be aware if youre headed that way. Meanwhile, take a live look from mount tam. And yeah, this is the reason its called the marine layer and when it rolls and it has a big effect on our weather, its everything to our weather pattern. And that brings in that onshore flow with that moist, cool air. And that is certainly cooling us down low pressure system sitting off the coast, also contributing to that air quality today. Well, you cant really see it yesterday that a little haze out there today. Were expecting against moderate air quality that will improve as we get into the weekend. But just a heads up that we do have some areas right now along the peninsula and in the east bay that you can see it slipped into the yellow north date. They doing pretty good there in the green but off towards the east of us. You notice there is some orange out there, too. So little bit of an issue with that temperatures right now, 50 degrees in San Francisco. Pretty cool out there in the low 70s in the north bay. Same story as we head over to the inner east. Theyve got antioch and 75. You can see cocker just at 70 about 73 in san jose and you see all the green on the map for a vindication of those cool temperatures. Todays highs will be limited. So were talking about low 60s in San Francisco and really just topping out in those low 80s inland, High Pressure has moved on. Thats why today we are cooling down starting with the clouds with a little sunshine in the afternoon. Then its all about the low pressure that rolls in and that will bring in the cool air and a few showers ahead of it. How much rain . Well, were talking about a 10th of an inch or less. And the timing for that is going to be as we get into our Early Morning on sunday. So take you through today. Few clouds there, the marine layer rolls back in. You can see as we get through our saturday, a little cloudy and then sunday morning, thats when were going to have. So those showers roll through throughout the day on your sunday. So if youre making plans outdoors, saturday is going to be your better day. Although this weekend, a little cool and drizzly and a little cloudy out there to to you. Thank you. Kyla. Right now in california. If you steal feuer than 950 worth of items. Youre likely only committing a misdemeanor. And in many cases, people are arrested, cited given a court date and then released the same day. So as we have been seeing. Its believed this then allows those people to quickly commit the same kind of crime. Again. And last week, 2 people arrested for smashandgrab in San Francisco. But just 2 days before that, Police Say One of them was arrested for stealing in the east bay. Police say 23 yearold johnny woods was arrested last week for smashandgrab at the dior store in union square. But a couple of days before that woods was one of 11 people arrested in a retail theft, staying at the Pleasant Hill shopping center, the Pleasant Hill police chief says something needs to change. We have invested in prevention we have invested enforcement, more needs to be invested in the consequences for stealing. Before voters approved pop prop 47 back in 2014, repeat offenders, including people who commit petty theft or shoplifting could face felonies and serious time behind bars. San Francisco Police released body camera video and the 911 calls related to the crash and deadly shooting at the chinese consulate last week. So the 911 calls came in just after 3 in the afternoon saying a person drove it to the consulate and they were armed. As the first 2 uniform backup officers approached the sergeant and mister yang. The sergeant quickly step back, drew his firearm and the o i s occurred. Now to sports, the niners are getting ready for monday night football against the minnesota vikings. But there are questions about whether 3 of their star players will actually be able to play. Because they suffered some injuries last sunday kron fours. Erin wilson has the details well, the fortyniners they were on the practice field for the First Time Since their loss against the brown. And the question of the day yesterday was with that trio of injured niners be participating in. Well, ensure. The answer is absolutely not. Christian mccaffrey deebo samuel and treat williams. They are practice. Or miss practice yesterday with various injuries. Now the team did list them as day to day, which is encouraging because that means they could be back on the field later today for practice. Now the fortyniners they play the vikings on monday night on the road gives the trio, you know what extra day of recuperation, which is always good. Now, Kyle Shanahan was asked many of questions about the injuries and the players and their return. And he answered in cows, an impassioned, take a whats the result of a with christian . Probably. That suggests its a strain. I dont know what it is. Something the next day to day, was mri on the cafferty encouraging it. In your view, i thought was anyone is day to you know, its. I got a chance. Expecting both all 3 of those guys to play mccaffrey, d bill friendly im not sunday. They can from their and the medical reported actually continues. But this one at a las vegas because jimmy garoppolo, hes been ruled out of this weeks game against the bears. A back injury for me to say right there on that play in the 2nd quarter in last weeks win over the patriots and will he stay in the game and finish the drive . But then he did not return in the second. Had that say this is the second injury for jimmy. You know, hes a santa one earlier, you know, in their week, 4 to the chargers because he had a concussion the raiders they havent named a starter yet for sundays game. Right now, thats tbd against the bears in chicago. Now, lets talk some hockey. Lets go to the eyes with the sharks. They host the undefeated Boston Bruins at the tank, hoping to get their loyal fans. Their first of the season. It was scoreless until the end of the first period when Brad Marchand took the puck at the left circle and knocked in his first goal of his young season. Will the bruins they go up one, nothing and then the bruins. They build a 3, nothing the shark. They did score in the 3rd. But of course, just one goal wont be enough in the room. The bruins they win 3 to one. And that starts right now. Still win list on the season. Outside the back to you guys at the desk. Thank you. A live look outside here at coit tower in San Francisco. Gray out there right now and breezy kyla grogan. Here now with details on today. And also as we look forward towards the weekend hanging out in space just thought its friday okay. Orionid meteor shower. You may have heard of this. Its peaking this weekend. You can see between 10 and 20 meteors per hour. Thats pretty cool. However, the bay area being the bay area. You can see whats going on here. A little bit of limited visibility for this. The best time to see it is kind of, you know, late at night early in the morning when the sun is not up. And the moon has kind of set that we want to do it. Our problem here is going to be cloud cover. So let me take you through friday into saturday. This is saturday morning. Not great. We go through saturday in the day. This i think is our little opportunity. So saturday night would be the time if youre going to see any of this, youll see it because by sunday morning weve got some showers rolling through here and you can see they continue throughout sunday. They are scattered and light. However, thats going to provide enough cloud cover to make a little tough. How much rain are we looking out for this weekend . It is that sunday that im looking at for the rain about a 10th of an inch a little bit more as you head up into the north bay models now getting a little bullish on them, getting about a quarter of an inch. But that will be your sunday. So today we are sitting in the clouds as we take a live look from the east bay out there. No spare the air alert, but we do have moderate air quality today that improves over the weekend. Difference in temperatures in the last 24 hours. Big difference. Napa down 19 degrees. You can see 14 in livermore, but everyone a little cooler. So right now, 73 in san jose where its 63 in alameda, just 58 in San Francisco about 73 in petaluma napa sitting about 66 degrees places that had recordsetting heat yesterday. Like napa now awfully chilly. Its all about the low pressure thats moving in the High Pressure thats trucking out. So our marine layer obviously well in control here. You can see that as we zoom in and that is going to be the hallmark of our forecast today. So thats why these temperatures will have very big lid on them. So to low for low 80s is about as highs are going to get that to the inner east bay and south bay be can see 70s around the bay and 60s out of the coast. Speaking of the coast, just a quick reminder. We do still have that dangerous serf out there. Sneaker waves are certainly going to be a problem for you if youre out there. So just be careful. Cool down coming for the weekend. Showers on sunday. Pretty nice start to the week next week. Back to you. And now to a story of survival involving a young dog and her 4 puppies. The dogs were found on the streets of fresno. I was supposed to bring back was late getting to the airport and was still in fresno. I made an assumption about the new pops which meant reta was left behind. It turns out she was driven to dogwood Animal Rescue in sebastien pool where she had 5 pups and most of them have been adopted. But Lesson Learned double check on every flight to make sure everyones on board. As for those i did take 2 of the 4 pups died within 24 hours of landing.
