A committee thats part of the Oakland PoliceCommission Says its narrow down a list of new candidates to just 7 people, including a former chief leronne armstrong. But that committee did not follow the proper process. Unofficial finalists have not yet been determined. First grant lodes joins now live from our newsroom to explain this. Chaos in the search for a new chief grant. Looks like they jumped the gun. Can the committee released this list of 7 candidates but did so too soon. And because the application process isnt technically over and the candidates havent even been interviewed. This still has to play out. Regina jackson is on the Oakland Police commission, but its not part of the committee that released those 7 finalists names and shes critical of the committees process. A Good Samaritan tried to disrupt the robbery and that person was shot. The suspects took off. Both the victims are hospitalized. Police say both are doing okay. Firefighters and Police Responded to the scene of a homeless encampment where 10 caught on fire. David robinson lives in the hayes valley neighborhood and captured the images. Right there on the ground and you see in the pictures that is the sidewalk was charred. Theres nothing left from what ever in that tent right a power pole. The park old south was even scarred. You can see planters that were set up along the sidewalk to deter homeless encampments. Robinson serves on the board. The Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association and says multiple complaints are sent to the city on a daily basis, not just for fires but other illegal activities as well. Pretty wet out there this afternoon. Will begin to dry out overnight as we see those northerly winds and the temperatures. Well, thats going to start to warm things up pretty nicely outside overnight tonight, partly cloudy skies, but then clearing toward the early morning. I think well see some Cool Temperatures probably going to see some 40s, i think parts of the interior valleys, sunshine returns for tomorrow. Going to be warmer, too and will warm things up to the middle of this week. And then a slight chance of rain late on friday and into saturday morning. Well, this was the weather maker for today. You can see it swirling around here. Most of the energy from that system heading up in the pacific northwest.
