All right. 6. 18, is the time and its becoming more and more likely that the federal government will run out of money come sunday as congress is still stuck in a heated fight over funding with no real solution in sight. Our dc correspondent Jessi Turnure has the details. All eyes are really on the house now to see if republicans can agree on a lastminute plan. This amendment is not needed. The house worked late into the night wednesday. This amendment is pretty simple. Dont use money to do this stupid thing. With lawmakers debating bills to fund a specific government agencies. But that process will not be complete before the federal government runs out of money this weekend. The only way this works, only way we avoid a shutdown, is it to a bipartisan measure . House speaker Kevin Mccarthy is now trying to unite republicans on a temporary funding plan for the entire government were bringing up on friday. Ability to fund the government. But at the same time, secure our border. So, yes, were doing our job. The measure would cut federal spending and strengthen security at the southern border. Things many in the gop support to trying to rein in the administration that is acting like theyre king of the hill. But a group of hardright republicans led by florida congressman matt gaetz say they will not vote for a temporary funding solution in any form. Our nation sits atop a 33 trillion dollar debt. And mccarthy wants to meet with President Biden on Border Security issues. But the white house has made it clear the speaker has very little leverage left. The good news is that the airports will not be shutting down as the tsa workers and Traffic Controllers. They will be forced to go to work even if theres not a deal in place. James and darya back in 2018 when there was not a deal in place before the end of the fiscal year. It lasted 35 days. As far as the workers are concerned, they had to work without pay during that time. And they saw a lot of people not show up to work and that caused air Traffic Controllers to work even harder, slow things down just for everybodys safety. And of course, that translates to problems for you. The flying community. So here is what you need to know in terms of numbers. Take a look at your screen terms of the sheer volume of workers that were talking about across the country, 50,000 tsa workers, 13,000 air Traffic Controllers in california alone. Were talking about 1300 air Traffic Controllers and about 13,000 about 5,000, i should say 5500. She has tsa workers on the job again forced to work with out. Heres another component. As far as travel and leisure, james and area as far as the parks are concerned. A lot of people, of course, head to the parks. They are not classified as essential workers. So if theres not a deal in place, will not be required to go to work. And that could impact or travel to places like yosemite. So lots going on. Keep that in mind as youre heading to the airport, should there not be a deal in place your flight could be pushed back or canceled altogether on top of it, the air Traffic Control is right now. Theyre scrambling to hire more of them. When you throw in the Government Shutdown, youre looking at a lot of chaos. Back to you. All right. Thanks a lot. Were tracking in accident on the dumbarton bridge. Overturned vehicle. So this is 84 westbound. Thats where the accident is. They got the eastbound side shut down. So that means probably trying to get that accident off of the bridge there. Their use in both lanes. You can see to try to get that. They are now. This has been on the bridge for say the past 30, 40 minutes or so. Theyve already call tow trucks trying to get those out to get that off the same.
