They say theyve invested better security measures and technology to try and retail crime and they say theyre going to continue to take those steps out, locations that are remaining open. They also say anyone who works at the 3 stores set to close next month here in the bay area. They will have the option of transferring it to a different location. Of course, scene. There are several other target stores that will remain open here in the bay. But those 3 will be a bit of a blow to those Communities Just absolutely. No. All. Thank you so much. Now to a protest in oakland over the alleged failure to address rampant crime there. Some businesses closed all day today. Others reopen just in time for lunch. But as kron 4 Charles Clifford tells us the hope from the community is as that city leaders will get the message that something needs to change. Well, here in oakland on tuesday, as many as 200 businesses may have closed their doors this morning from 10 to noon to send a message that theyre not happy with where the city is headed specifically in regards to Business Owners held a rally in downtown oakland on Tuesday Morning saying that theyre very concerned about burglaries at their businesses. Theyre worried about their customers being robbed out on the sidewalk. Theyre worried about car breakins and theyre worried about violent crime, which sometimes happens even in downtown oakland. Another rally was held in front of shove, all which is a longrunning, a vietnamese restaurant here in oakland, which has announced that its going to close down by the end of the month because they say crime in the neighborhood has impacted their business too much and they cant keep operating the other Business Owners here are calling on the city to do more about crime because they do not want to suffer the same fate open has been known as a city that is okay with violence and crime not at all these people. Here we are here to say were not okay with this. Because all glenn is a great city. Lets not you know you know, right away from another state take our business somewhere we love over. Thats why were here and work hard. Coral. Now at todays rally, organizers called on the city to beef up the Police Department to about 1000 officers which they say is the minimum they need to make. Some changes are also asking the state and federal government to provide additional safety funding for the city. Were taking a live look outside here at San Francisco international airport. A little fog creeping there across the coast. We started the day kind of damp and meteorologist kyla grogan. Here now with details of the it provides gave us a little something. Yeah. And you can see in the last 24 hours, the loop here of the storm, obviously a lot more given to areas to the north of us. But still, we did get some measurable rain. Particularly those of you in the north bay. Were expecting about a 10th to a quarter of an inch and thats about what we got mill valley to tense. Just under that santa rose can see about 4100s in richmond, ben lowman just under a 10th of an inch and of course, much less in San Francisco and hayward in many places just saw that of a trace maybe felt a little humidity. Kind of get the idea that we have a little bit of that around live. Look outside right now shows weve got some nice blue skies out there, but a little bit of marine layer starting to build its way back in. We also have this kind of left over from that system, a northwest swell that has come in and that unfortunately put us under a high advisory that goes through 11 oclock tonight. Danger for rip currents and also for sneaker waves. Waves expected to be 12 to 16 feet. So if you are out by the coaches, got to be real careful and make sure guests might be visiting. Also know that that it could be quite dangerous, especially those north and northwest facing beaches. Current temperatures right now, 60s out at the coast and in San Francisco, mostly 70s around the bay. We do have a few spots out there that warmed up like napa sitting at about 82 and the winds start to pick up a little bit. The wind is going to hallmark of our forecast over the next couple days. Very breezy conditions other than that, relatively quiet for us over the next couple of days. And then we have a tiny chance of some offshore wind developing as we get into the weekend. Ill be back in just a little bit. Well talk more about that for now. Send it back to the desk. Thank you so much. Still, the head of the union called the president s show of support chose to stand up. In our fight for economic and social justice. But republican congressman dan mouser argue the president s visit is meaningless. A good photoop for him. Okay. And its doesnt seem to have any effect on the negotiations whatsoever. And congressman Marc Molinaro blames the Biden Administration for the rising prices, stretching workers paychecks. It would be healthy if he acknowledged that his policies have driven up the cost. The president insists hes always been pro, you and promises hell keep fighting for American Workers rescue going or former President Donald Trump is planning on meeting with the striking workers tomorrow. So the breeze will be picking up this afternoon. A little patchy fog, as you saw that last picture, certainly going to be happening as we get into tomorrow, more sunshine for us. A nice day at temperatures. A bit warmer. And then were looking just the outside chance, a little offshore wind as we get into the weekends. Let me show you why that offshore wind could be an issue. So you can see over the next couple of days, not a whole lot of dramatic movement, but then as we get into thursday and friday. That low pressure starting to drop in and it goes to the inside of california is sometimes called an inside slider. When that happens, High Pressure offshore, you start to get a wind gradient between these 2 and a little bit of offshore wind can be generated. And thats what we look out for. Were in fire season because that could be a very dangerous situation. So keeping an eye on that thats not locked in. But whats interesting is to look at these models little back and on that system for the Pacific Northwest as we get in the overnight into tomorrow morning. And then here comes that inside slider looks like a little rain possible for the sierra. Not only for this year, a little bit of rain, but notice those are a few snowflakes that to fly saturday night in the central sierra. So changing seasons, no doubt about it. Turn temperatures right now as we take a live look from the east bay. We are relatively mild. Were sitting in just the 60s in San Francisco, 70s across other parts of the bay area. Couple spots have made it to that 80 degree mark. But its been a relatively quiet day today. Wind is calm, as i mentioned, but were going to see that pick up not just this afternoon for these wind gusts. You can see them in the north bay in particular and over in spots like vacaville to. But as we get into tomorrow morning, notice were going to be still in that. And thats really going to be with us over the next few days. So just be prepared for that wind to pick up a bit. Heres a look at your extended forecast. Nice couple of days. Well keep an eye on that win situation for the weekend. We will cool down a little bit regardless of the wind. There is President Joe Biden as he arrives in the bay area right now. This is a live look at Moffett Field in Mountain View. Theres the president hes going to greet some supporters here in at the airfield there on the tarmac, shaking some hands there with some people who. Were lucky enough to get there on to the tarmac to. Mitt meet with him. Its already been a pretty busy day for the president. He was on the picket lines in detroit earlier today showing his support for the auto workers who are on strike. He is now here and is scheduled to hold 2 Campaign Events during his stay. One will be held in atherton the other in San Francisco. And then after those 2 fundraisers today and tomorrow, biden is also going to be meeting with his council of advisors on science and technology. So here he is just doing some reading where his famous aviators, secret service there on his side. Can see the face of the 2 people who are there on the tarp mac with him. If we have any idea who that is, id love to pass it along to our viewers who are watching this with us. But this is the president s a 3rd visit to the bay area just this year. He will be leaving for by this time tomorrow afternoon. So his visit is rather short here in the bay area doing a few democratic fundraisers and also meeting with his counsel. But here there is the president looks like hes maybe going to be get in some phone numbers getting an autograph or a pen came out and passing some sort of notes back and forth here. But again, President Joe Biden has just landed here at. Moffett field in Mountain View, air force one there behind him. So well keep our eye on this live picture and well keep you updated on the president s visit as he will also be in november. When a pack is set to kick off in San Francisco. Also the secret service suvs that are there lined up to take the president to his different locations today and the media press pool that set there right behind him. A good distance away, but their cameras can still get a pretty good shot as our cameras getting a great shot of the president as he has just arrived. The other media there behind him right next to the engine. And the camera zoom in one more times. We could see whats happening as the president now about to get into one of suvs and take off to one of the fundraisers. He is participating in. Well see actually a few walks around because some people meet on the tarmac try to get a glimpse of the president s try to see him and got a little closer and is his secret service crew and his team sort of move around. Well see that the president is going to walk up and meet and greets and the people whove been waiting there all day. To try to get a chance to maybe shake some hands with the president say a few words with him. Maybe hell meet some babies. But here he comes to try to greet the people than waiting up there in that hot and windy weather. So as our shot kind of gets blocked by all the crowds that are there. But the president , again, here in the bay area, weve kind of gone over what hes planning to do. So well keep our eye on this. And obviously we have a crew there getting the latest details on what the president is up to so we can get more updates for you this hour if need be and if not our website kron 4 dot com. And of course, coverage tonight starting at 5, 6, we can see a little bit more about the president s visit and maybe well hear from some of the people where theyre waiting on the sidelines, trying to get a little face time. With President Joe Biden. We do not have another brazen examples. Retail theft and San Francisco to talk about this one happened overnight in the citys Marina District. Police say someone tried to use a car to break into a sunglass hut. Kron fours haaziq modyoon shows us the damage. Youre looking at whats left of the security gate here at sunglass hut in San Francisco. You know, this is really disappointing. Somebody drove a car through here. It happened overnight here Chestnut Street in the citys Marina District. A spot its of concerned. Residents walking by who pulled out their cell phone cameras to take photos of the destruction. They say this isnt the first time this business has been targeted. Everyone who lives in the Marina District is frustrated by the amount of crime that we have. As you can see, an area of kind of an organized energy there in the gulf and over florida. But we have our eye on 2 spots. A heading a little bit farther to the east. One is Tropical Storm philippe. The other one is whats called an investor meeting that the National Hurricane center keeps an eye on it, investigating it for development. Lets talk about Tropical Storm philippe. You can see right now just sustained winds about 45 miles per hour. But this one while it is not going to be a strong system is tracking pretty closely here to puerto rico. So that one is one that they are keeping an eye on for sure. Want to talk about. If you look at Hurricane Season june to july, we start to see some of that activity ramp up. It really picks up in august and into september. But as we start october, as we get into the end of the week, you can see it really pulls back and see it really pulls back and then kind of finishe get to november. So a lot of that activity is probably set to ramp down, not say that we can get something still starts to change characteristics a bit. Meanwhile, back on the west coast still keep an eye on that system that brought some rain to us and is now bringing continued rain to the Pacific Northwest. They actually some record setting rain when it come back in a bit. Well talk more about extended forecast and get you into the weekend. If youre ready for that to back to who is ready for that .
