All of this despite the increase in coronavirus cases and also a plea from city leaders to just stay away as apd had officers working on foot in the castro just keeping an eye on things the Castro District of course traditionally the place to be on halloween. But mayor london breed and other city officials urge people to stay safe and avoid large gatherings. While residents in the castro understand the risks of gathering some say the community is responsible enough to celebrate safely. Definitely need to be safe. I need to be protected. I also got to live our you know its like the everyone right wearing mask develop still celebrating the 5 even though we couldnt go door to door trick or treating. Well the goal for city officials as to avoid taking a step back in the fight against covid19 just last week San Francisco was the first major city to reach the yellow least to risk terror here in california. But reopening plans have been put on hold as local officials fear that a surge in the city could overwhelm hospitals they were looking for a champions sunday coming your way today lots of sunshine and it looks like its going to be that way for the week ahead all the little bump in the road in the middle the week well put together for coming up in the future. Good morning welcome back at 7. 14 weve got a great looking day in the window behind this around the bay area its time to check in with days far for the forecast. I gave a good morning morning, good morning, everybody and a beautiful sunday in fact this week coming up ahead plenty of sunshine in great temperatures as well to start things off a little bit of fog going on at the coast Half Moon Bay. But ill tell you what this is a very thin layer fog because we dont have that marine layer really back again im gonna show you that humidity charted just a bit but again noting though we got here just a little bit of that coastal fog not a whole lot what the macro system tells us is we still have a high pretty much in place with some local winds will be offshore and onshore times but not a whole lot going on theyll be pretty much dictated by the sun but they see the highest pretty much in place here looks like interesting enough some clouds from the bubble up from the south to make notice so they may paint the skies a little bit this afternoon or evening make for nice sunset. Temperatures are in the 39 decree ranger that for novato the only one i could find their elsewhere is pretty much 40s with plenty of 50s on the board including inland and when its up moisture level again. We dont see our traditional green filling up the day this morning. So were still fairly dry in through the day thats going to happen during the afternoon at 4 oclock we pretty much expect that but then again checking in the Morning Hours. Thats when these numbers should spike up a bit and we should see the green spilling in here and still were in the fairly tan color so that doesnt look to be changing not immediately be its going to see what happens by the middle of the week why because a new system coming our way forecast today is sunny and mild cooking on the 80s pretty for the bay inland for next week weve got scattered clouds by midweek and got a weak system that first were hoping was going bring us a few showers looks like thats coming together so that after that the next thing to look out for is kind of a busy weekend starting friday into saturday. Call it may be 2 major waves coming our air our way and the first one may hold with it some showers for us in the second to reinforce it with cooler temperatures. Today were going with 77 San Francisco 84 oakland meanwhile checking in for san jose at 83 across the water real estate, theres a most readings. Inland are going to be the 80s you really have to be along the coast to experience the 70s or a chilly 69 for Half Moon Bay 77 San Francisco. But elsewhere pretty much the 80s even along the east bay shoreline noting the next 3 days here a slight little drop here on tuesday and its tuesday wednesday. We want look out for again with a little system coming our way to throw some clouds our way in some slightly cooler temps a more in the long range forecast of the market good day. Thanks. A lot. Well this Holiday Weekend halloween weekend rather comes as the u. S. Is breaking yet another grim record in the coronavirus pandemic. On friday there were more than 99,000 new cases reported across the country and now Health Officials are worried about another surge of infections in the week ahead. How that may and how that may overwhelm hospitals. I think we know be a in some form of denial if we didnt say that these high case numbers that were seeing right now in minnesota and wisconsin will convert to hospitalizations in 2 weeks to a month. My plan is to use this to not deliver candy to the syringes filled with fellow shots really its all. Well the cdc trick or treating as this years very high risk activity. Its going to take a couple weeks to see if and how severe that any surge from this halloween weekend might be. Common side are rallies for President Trump at that the president s rallies or a lack of facemasks and according to a new Stanford University study at least 18 Trump Campaign rallies have led to more than 30,000 coronavirus cases. Researchers have also concluded that more than 700 people have died in connection with those rallies. It certainly doesnt surprise me and another big event that occurred earlier this summer that has been linked many hundreds perhaps even thousands of cases with the large motorcycle rally in sturgis in the dakotas. So again it doesnt surprise me these very larger rallies were often social distancing is not taking place and majority of individuals are not wearing face you know have resulted in in quite a secondary cases of covid19. In response to that study the Trump Campaign says that under the First Amendment americans have the right to gather and hear from the president. The cdc says Health Care Workers on the front lines of the covid19 pandemic now make up about 6 of coronavirus hospitalizations and one in every 3 of those hospitalized Health Workers are nurses. Zach myers has more on that. A cdc study found covid19 impacted nurses more than any other Health Care Worker groups. The study looked at a sampling of hospitalizations between march and may 6 of those were Health Care Workers and nurses made up more than a 3rd of that group figure that it would be largely not 36 . I mean it makes sense because again nurses imports they dont get to work from home, theyre there in the front lines among Health Care Workers who had to be hospitalized for covid19. The study found 89 of them had Underlying Health conditions. The most comment were obesity hypertension and diabetes. Officials at Johnson Memorial hospital say those numbers should be an important reminder you do have to watch your weight, you have to stay healthy if you are diabetic control their diabetes if youre hypertensive can take your medicine, anybody who has Underlying Health conditions that in the these really affects them madly Patient Safety officer william inc says the study also reinforces the need for caution even among the healthiest of hoosiers you might have other people in your family who have those Underlying Health conditions so you need to watch out for them to officials here at Johnson Memorial say none of their employees have had to be hospitalized for covid19 but they have had infected employees and they believe most of them caught it outside the hospital one of the things that weve done here in the hospital. As we have the power to all of our employees to say but your mask protect me as well as yourself and i would encourage the public to do that as well. Well bart is testing more robust air filters and its train cars, its all part of an effort to improve riders safety while reducing the risk of spreading covid19. Bart is in the middle of a Pilot Program that replaces air filters in its cars with ones that are capable of trapping smaller particles. The agency is also testing you ve light rods which can destroy smaller particles in the air. Both of these features are expected to be permanent on barts new train cars. Last nights soccer match between the San Jose Earthquakes and l a f c was postponed because of an outbreak of covid19 on the la team. First positive test came back on wednesday and then 2 more players tested positive on friday. So far no word on if the match will be played at a later date or just canceled altogether. And still ahead this morning. The battle is brewing over whether 17 yearold should be given the right to vote were going to break down both sides of prop 18 we come back. Maybe get some showers and youre much colder temperatures though for you and the weekend checking things out right now this is Half Moon Bay, one of the few places we can scrounge up some fog show you the marine layer is still around. Meanwhile on the live shot from the bay bridge toll plaza just bit of haze going on there in on our way to mostly sunny skies. Those temperatures. The bottles graduated back up to 41 now 40s across most of the region, although kind of a freakish 54 and 50s line up the east bay shoreline for comparisons sake we are trailing a couple degrees compared to this time yesterday and the wakeup planner tells us pretty much 50s with them maybe 64 the bay going on by high noon, well get plenty of 70s in fact most of the region should be in the 70s and as far as altman highs today in the mid afternoon. Most ratings will be probably in the 80s or close to it and that will be pretty much with the high that you can expect even along the east bay shoreline. Coming up in a bit we have not quite a persistence forecast but much the same to the we could get a little changed by the middle of week really hoping though on a system or a series of systems by weeks end well get all that coming up in a bit marty all right dave seen a couple minutes. And of course were all waiting for a chance of rain it looks like some things coming together to maybe see some of that rain happened going to start with first things first has been so dry around the region. So much lately showing a Half Moon Bay. Its one of the few locations to actually see some morning fog so lets bask in it just a little bit there. Some morning fog there upstream, we dont see anything really happening. The next couple of days we pretty much have this High Pressure zone get to the middle the week though i called basically a pothole if youre kind of see the 7 day it just kind of gets down just a little bit. Middle of the week because the system were hoping last week was going bring us maybe little shower now it says will bump in the road now its now at the end of the week that looks like a couple of systems coming our way that may have a little shower hold and they were 47 bullet hole at this hour 54 oakland, 40 santa rose we got out of the 30s up theyre up north 45 for livermore 54 for kind freakishly warm number and 55 meanwhile for San Francisco all right so going to the models here is that first little wave here its throw some scattered clouds slight bump in the road there with temperatures and then towards the end of the week things get interesting. What looks to be maybe a total of 3 waves this the first one seems to be the most potent from kind of a moisture standpoint. This is the highresolution they could she had general idea that looks like boom boom, theres a second one and a 3rd one, but that will be reinforcing some cool air all the way to the end of that this takes us into sunday, so next weekend. It looks at this point will be a little unsettled maybe not as picturesque as this weekend has been a look at the 4 zone forecast 77 for San Francisco will do maybe some 70s along the coast. Bayside upper 70s, but 80 south San Francisco burlingame heading further south more those 80s hanging out here palo alto 80 to 81. Redwood city 78 from mountain view. Santa clara valley, mostly 80s even 88 morgan scotto said 8583 for cupertino east bay shoreline to the south most readings at about 80 here 82 for san Leandro Hayward rather 78 for union city and inland were looking at tri valley controlled in the middle 80s or not looking at a heat spike 84 here for a walnut creek and concord 78 for Berkeley Solano county back to some of those lower 80s inland 81 for vallejo napa 84 for sonoma and 85 for santa rosa and more 80s as you even as you head south. So we repeat that rain pretty much of the week ahead here again thats up for civil system is now just some scattered clouds so look out for that gets more interesting by friday and saturday look up temperatures drop inland as well as the bay and also at the coast were down to the middle 60s marty all right dave thanks lot want to continue our election coverage now were asking the question should 17 yearold. Have the right to vote thats the question but im behind prop 18 which would allow just that but there is a caveat. Christina, but you see has more. Proposition 18 would give 17 year olds are right to vote in primaries and special elections if they are turning 18 by the general election. Secretary of state alex padilla says vote. Yes probably this 18 is not about lowering the voting age. Its simply about. Allowing any young voters who is eligible to vote in a general election to be able to have their voice heard in a primary election proposition a team. Would frankly just bring us some my moves but 18 other states already do hideous as its the energy of young people thats been the catalyst for change when fighting against Climate Change demanding gun control calling for social justice activism amongst young citizens throughout our nations history is been one of most important forces and moving our nation forward and in california more than 600,000 youth under 18 have preregister to vote to huge indicator of there willingness their preparedness their eagerness to participate in the electoral process when they turn 18 those who oppose prop 18 say 17 yearold are not ready to make Big Decisions on ballot topics like taxes proposition 18 would let High School Students vote on tax increases in primaries and special elections and that could be the margin that raises taxes and maybe theyre not seeing all the information and maybe they dont remember how many times texas have already been raised for the same purpose, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association taxes are too high says vote no on prop 18 there are millions of registered voters in Los Angeles County taxes for a specific purpose, special purpose. Such as a tax that will be used only for schools must receive a 2 thirds vote of the electorate. And sometimes thats very narrow margin in terms of the number of voters and a small number of voters can make a big difference Governor Newsom and the California School Boards Association also support prop 18 days young citizens are literally just months away from being able to serve in the being able to serve in a jury. All of this despite the increase in coronavirus cases and a plea from city leaders to just stay away as apd had officers on foot in the castro keeping an eye on things the Castro District of course traditionally the place to be in the city on halloween. But mayor london breed and other city officials urge people to stay safe and avoid large gatherings. Now all residents in the castro understand the risks of gathering they say the community is responsible enough to celebrate safely. Definitely need to be safe. I need to be protected. I also got to live our you know its like the everyone right wearing mask develop still celebrating the 5 even though we couldnt go door to door trick or treating. So the goal for city officials as to avoid taking a step back in the fight against covid19 just last week San Francisco was the first major city to reach the yellow lease risk that here in california but reopening plans have been put on hold as they fear a local surge could overwhelm hospitals. Well tomorrow is dia los muertos or day of the dead, its not the mexican version of halloween, but it is a day to honor deceased family members and people have spent the last few days building alters and getting ready for the annual celebration. But just like halloween the day of the dead has also been impacted by the pandemic this year in mexico city the president and his wife kicked off 3 days of mourning by highlighting all of the lives lost to covid19 but they did so at the National Palace without an audience. Bells 32nd annual deals one of those series of events will conclude with a car per pump per session in the canal neighborhood. Or in health a starter in health and wellness Campus Parking lot 30 to 40 kerner blvd in sandra fell. Now if you can attend you can watch it online. Theres and link available on our website you can find it at kron 4 dot com. And the de los muertos festival in oakland also going online this year the annual street festival runs until november 15th and usually attracts thousands of people to oakland for all the great music food and community gathering, but of course most of its going to be online this year. There will still be some in person activities with covid19 safety precautions in place. Well the weather is nice least to some outdoor skating or something maybe it looks pretty good really for the week ahead, in fact those temperatures are going to be very mild into the 80s. What youre made of were made for 14 good morning, welcome back keep in mind that we fell back overnight so yeah, 8. 14 of this sunday morning want to get a check of the Weather Forecast things are looking just beautiful outside our window here far as here with more warm weather on the way and looks like will last all weekend. Good morning. Marty and good morning, everybody only a little bump in the road, maybe perhaps the potholes i called tuesday or wednesday just a touch there a little bit beauty shot that were showing you here is the shot from u c along the east bay shoreline. Temperatures again are going to be pretty nice. The only little wrinkle going on here, im gonna show you just a bit here is some cloud cover bubbling up from the south or kind of thrown that into the mix just a little bit might have some high cloudiness well get all the way check it out from here. You can see it excuse me but fighting this stays ok as you see bubbling up from the south here in the Desert Southwest might make it into our viewing area maybe potentially throw some high clouds there a little bit in the afternoon outside of that were basically talking mostly sunny and the dominance of this High Pressure in theory i guess could say turns a little dirty high is a little bit maybe itll bath got 40s up to the north there 51 for napa 47 vallejo 50s cover most of the east bay 47 kind freakishly cool number at fremont and 49 for san jose. And i point the relative humidity off because weve been showing you the fog going on there at Half Moon Bay. So at the coastal location, shore yet the morning fog. We really dont have that marine layer covering up things the afternoon we never get it though you are usually we dont there you see the 20s in the 30s going on for relative humidity levels but at night what we should be seeing here is this flooding back into getting that marine layer even spilling into the sacramento valley. Weve already been a week past this this offshore wind event and still are a sphere really hasnt completely recovered at least not at the surface. So this is what happens for the week ahead today were talking basically sunny to mostly sunny again, some of those high clouds there, mild and cooking on the 80s for the east bay in fact most of the inland bay. Now for next week, its scattered clouds the middle of the week as we do see a frontal boundary coming in here and may help out with that marine layer to make it some green on that map with some pothole temps and then for next weekend possible shower on friday. That first system seems to the most juicy for rain but theyre actually a whole bunch of 3 theres actually total 3 of them coming through which will be done by sunday, so unsettled into next week and we can maybe call it as well with much cooler temperatures on the other side. Highs today across the state looks like of the Central Valley is in the middle 80s department not too bad no he spice going on here 77 for afrezza or San Francisco and out of the South San Diego at 8360 by the way up to big bear starting to cool up in the mountains, 77 San Francisco, 84 oakland, 83 san jose across the wider real estate 80s, a popular number she get away from water today and expect more of the same the week ahead now coming up a little bit well take a look at those longer range forecast models for sure that rain opportunity and the 4 zone forecast morning all right dave seen a couple minutes. Thank you. Well this holiday haul halloween weekend comes as the u. S. Is breaking another grim record in the coronavirus pandemic. On friday there were more than 99,000 new cases reported across the country and now Health Officials are worried about another surge of infections in the weeks ahead, and how that might overwhelm hospitals. I think we know in some form of denial if we didnt say that these high case numbers that were seeing right now in minnesota and wisconsin will convert to hospitalizations in 2 weeks to a month. Well, the cdc classified trick or treating this year as a highrisk activity. They say its going to take a few weeks to see if and how severe any surge from this weekend might be. Common side are rallies for a President Trump is the lack of facemasks and according to a new Stanford University study, at least 18 Trump Campaign rallies have led to more than 30,000 coronavirus cases. Now in response to that study the Trump Campaign says that under the First Amendment americans have the right to gather and hear from the president. Its a 43, lets go ahead and get a check of the Weather Forecast because were expecting another Beautiful Day around the bay, heres dave spahr and more to good morning. Marty good morning, everybody and were looking plenty of sunshine for today, look at the way some high cloudiness kind of a kind of a little wrinkle in the forecast just a bit. But on balance mostly sunny skies live shot coming in from u c berkeley you can see the east bay shoreline nicely lit up there as you can see. But on our big picture, its still the High Pressure zone we talk about the last few days in a couple of days to get around tuesday wednesday. There is a weak system dropping that will throw some cloud cover or away in you know bump the temperatures around a little bit but will return to finish off the week. Do want to make note of some cloudiness bubbling up from the south might have some high clouds near scott in the skies. This afternoon as far as the current progress we of upper 50s lining up the east bay shoreline for here 46 santa rosa 55 in 58 San Francisco and san jose checking in there at 49, but looking at those long range forecast models this is that little pothole bump on the road. It looks impressive at first we take a look at that by tuesday, but by the time it gets here again throwing us just a few clouds get to the week though interesting this is happening by friday now friday morning. Theres that first batch second. And then a 3rd and its a 3rd one that you re they get the cold air pulled down here so it might be kind of interesting will called unsettled for right now with maybe some rain showers on our friday but. With all this traffic going on to note the shun here the radar projections here were getting some snows in the mountains so cooler temperatures coming to the bay area unsettled into next weekend. So enjoy this week and and also next week to 77 San Francisco. The coastal be treated to 60s and 70s mixture bayside hanging with upper 70s with some lower 80s even like burlingame heading down well see any to palo alto San Carlos City to foster city 8178 for mountain dew. Santa clara valley pretty much in the lower to middle 80s looks like a. Morgan hill coming in at 88 los gatos at 85. Still holding on to the 80s along the east bay shoreline with union city at 78 tri valley, middle 80s, so this heat spike is maybe he bump 84 going on for walnut creek and also conquered 78 for berkeley and up to Solano County lower to middle 80s inland 81 81 also for napa and santa rosa checks and 85 but the 80s hold on down the southern rim and the 7 day forecast again more of the sane that first system thrown us some cloud cover. But its by friday, the things start to get interesting and much cooler as we head into the weekend all locations inland as well as bay and even along the coast to his return well and to do the lower 60s, smart. All right dave, thanks a lot more election coverage for you this morning, there are 2 big propositions on this years ballot. Both of them take aim at the states criminal Justice System. Lauren lister explains that if they both passed they would have a big and varied impact on the states prison and Justice Systems. On the November Ballot to propositions take aim at the criminal Justice System end money bail proposition 25 would end the states cash bail system and replace it assessing a persons flight risk and threat to the community with the help of Technology Used by a judge to decide whether or not a person is released awaiting trial. Supporters argue the current money bail system is racist classist and unfair. Its a system that criminalizes poverty. Its a system that the lower low income folks in communities of color for and essentially a judges you based on the size of your wallet nobody deserves to sit in jail. Necessarily just because they dont have enough money in their bank account. The governor and the California Democratic party are among those for prop 25 the bail bond industry is fighting it but opponents also includes some like the aclu of Southern California who agree the current money bail system is flawed but who worry the tools used to replace it helped by algorithms pose a problem and could still lead tobias your algorithm might be kind of fun when youre looking to pick the next movie you want to watch and you get a suggestion but were talking about someones freedom. You know, theres a tremendous concern that these computer algorithms will let people out of jail who have no business being out of jail. And well hold people in jail who have no business being held a yes vote on prop 25 means you want to replace cash bail with risk assessments. A no vote means you want to preserve the status quo proposition twen voters are also being asked to decide on proposition 20 prop 20 is just intended to fix some of the unintended consequences of some prior laws top 20 is an effort to roll back common sense voter approved reforms this measure would allow certain theft crimes to be charged as felonies it would require dna collection from certain misdemeanor convicts and it would increase the number of felonies defined as violent disqualifying those Prison Inmates from being considered for early parole someone who kidnaps and traffics a child for or commits a rape of a person by drugs. Or commits a violent assault on a transgender person in a hate crime is currently qualified as a nonviolent offender eligible for Early Release and we want to qualify these clearly violent offenses as violent opponents argue proposition extremely out of touch, it is dangerous for Public Safety. They claim prop 20s changes to prior laws would increase incarceration and decrease savings use now to Fund Programs that help prevent crime. They also argue changes to parole would does incentivize prison rehab programs which help reduce repeat offenses, everybody that is under that that proposition targets is already getting out of prison. Theyre coming home to your community right like do you want them to come home better. Want them to come on the same different views on how to protect Public Safety now up for a vote Lauren Lyster ktla, 5 news. John fund has the highlights from both sides of the campaign trail. In the final sprint to election day President Trump and democratic nominee joe biden are blanketing key battleground states. This is going to be most. Important election. Perhaps in the history of our country the president making 4 stops in pennsylvania saturday, holding large mostly maskless rallies despite soaring cases of coronavirus the president making it clear the keystone state and its 20 electoral votes is crucial to his reelection 3 days from now this is the stay that will save the american dream. Youre exaggerating it thats what they are literally saying every day back in pennsylvania First Lady Melania Trump is accusing team biden of playing politics covid19 is not a partisan issue. In a time when unity and leadership piece of item. The democrats want to project feelings of fear and doubt poorly for political reasons. Coming up on the kron 4 morning news. We continue our election coverage by taking a look at the early voter turnout in the east bay will answer some of your questions about voting as well. Plus as covid19 cases continue to rise across the country some stand for doctors are tracing cases back to the Trump Campaign rallies well break down those numbers. But first well take a look at how people chose to celebrate halloween last night stick with us. We made usaa insurance for members like martin. An air force veteran made of doing whats right, not whats easy. So when a hailstorm hit, usaa reached out before he could even inspect the damage. Thats how you do it right. Usaa insurance is made just the way martins family needs it with hasslefree claims, he got paid before his neighbor even got started. Because doing right by our members, thats whats right. Usaa. What youre made of, were made for. Usaa welcome back an increase in covid19 cases across San Francisco and a plea from city leaders to avoid celebrating halloween didnt exactly stop people in the Castro District from dressing up and getting into the spirit of the day residents visited local restaurants and walked around the district decked out in their costumes many were massed up both in traditional masks and the ones to keep you safe from covid as well even some young trick or treaters visited shops along the busy streets as well as apd had officers on foot patrolling as the Castro District is traditionally the place to be on halloween residents said they understood the risks of gathering, but also believe the community is responsible enough to celebrate safely. Definitely need to be safe. I need to be protected. I also got to live our you know its like the everyone right wearing mask develop still celebrating the 5 even though we couldnt go door to door trick or treating. San francisco has become the first major city to reach the yellow least risked here in california when it comes to covid spread. But reopening plans have been put on hold officials are now trying to just avoid a local surge that could overwhelm our hospitals marty. Well happening now millions of people are celebrating dia de los muertos or day of the dead now its not the mexican version of halloween. It is a day to honor deceased family members and people have spent the last few days building alters and getting ready for the annual celebration. But just like halloween. The day of the dead has also been impacted by the pandemic this year in mexico city the president and his wife kicked off 3 days of mourning by highlighting all the lives lost to covid19. They did so at the National Palace but without an audience. In the bay area sandra fell 32nd annual deals where the series of events will conclude with a car procession in the canal neighborhood. Theres a link available on our website at kron 4 dot com dave. All right a nice weekend continues going on here, well see plenty of sunshine maybe some of the high cloudiness into the afternoon but those high temperatures. Into the 80s other maybe a tree towards week sen. Well check out your forecast coming up in a bit. 9. 14 welcome back november, first we are enjoying this view out the picture window. I just love this yeah absolutely gorgeous outside to this morning, nice blue skies kind of crisp in the air going fall feeling just a tent, yeah i want rain though dave spahr standing by in the Weather Center we might see some rain at the end of the week theres a possibility there and can youre very come through and give just south of guys or anything like that youre the most of more of that for this week ahead, there is a little weak system by mitt middle the week were kind of hoping maybe some showers whatever thats full pipe dream. But by the end of the week it looks like there is a chance this several ways to look out for well be talking about that because we get little closer, but ive been looking for fog and i still have go back to the Half Moon Bay shot because thats whats been kind of hovering around. A little bit here you can see it here even at this late 9 oclock hour were still dealing with some fog at the immediate coast, but boy this a marine layer just cant get inland very far at all its not really flooding. The bay in the Morning Hours as it typically does do want to note though for afternoon little bit away some high spewing up here from the Desert Southwest, so potentially maybe some high cloudiness indoor afternoon but on balance basically mostly sunny. But the highest still pretty much intact. Look at the traffic everything up and around ultimately with the system dropping south it will weaken and that will throw maybe a few clouds by the middle of the week temperature weve gotten 50s and 60s off to the east bay here also up to the north bay to 59 but 62 for napa 55 santa rosa. But if you are here at 7 oclock you may have noted the bottle was actually in the 30s. Cc a quick snap with those temperatures thats drier working for you clear skies dry air cools quickly forms cooking in the sun joins us. So what were talking about in this program airs today, sunny and milder mostly sunny with some high clouds most temperatures will be in the 80s inland and for the week ahead some scattered clouds midweek that set weak little system i talked about maybe a little bump in the road in terms of those temperatures but its the weekend, yes, possible showers on friday, but there are 2 other ways behind that major wave will most likely get the cooler temperatures behind all that they each one of them has technically a little shot of maybe seeing a shower or 2 across the state these are how the temperatures check in bakersfield 86 fresno 86 as well 77 for San Francisco. And 83 for san diego today, 77 San Francisco, 84 oakland, 83 san jose. And across the greater real estate again inland you can pretty much bank on least touching 80 degrees before you drop back into the 70s. Next couple of days here we keep much the same and thats that weak system i talked about on tuesday. Yeah, a little bump there, 82 and maybe lingering into wednesday, well talk more about that longer range forecast in just a bit marty alright, dave thanks a lot. Well this halloween weekend comes as the u. S. Breaks another grim record in the coronavirus pandemic on friday there were more than 99,000 new cases reported across the country. Now a lot of Health Officials are worried about another surge of infections in the week ahead. And how that may overwhelm hospitals. I think we know in some form of denial if we didnt say that these high case numbers that were seeing right now in minnesota and wisconsin will convert to hospitalizations in 2 weeks to a month. Well the cdc classified trick or treating this year as a highrisk activity. They say its going to take a few weeks to see if and how severe any surge from this weekend might be well. A lack of facemasks and virtually no social distancing among crowds is a common sight at Campaign Rallies for President Trump and now according to a new Stanford University study that behavior at at least 18 trump rallies has led to more than 30,000 coronavirus cases, researchers have also concluded more than 700 people have died in connection with those rallies. It certainly doesnt surprise me and another big event that occurred earlier this summer that has been linked many hundreds perhaps even thousands of cases with the large motorcycle rally in sturgis in the dakotas. So again it doesnt surprise me these very larger rallies were often social distancing is not taking place and majority of individuals are not wearing face you know have resulted in in quite a few a secondary cases of covid19. In response to the study the Trump Campaign says under the First Amendment americans have the right to gather and hear from the president. Bay area barges testing more robust air filters and its train cars. This is all part of an effort to improve riders safety while at the same time reducing the risk of spreading covid19 the agencies in the middle of a Pilot Program that replaces air filters in one of its kind its cars with ones that are capable. Trappings even smaller particles. Bart is also testing youve eli broads which can destroy smaller particles in the air. Both of these features expected to be permanent on barts new train cars. And happening tomorrow more than 500 people home who are homeless in San Francisco will now have to find a new place to stay. Thats because the city is going to move them out of the hotels where they have been staying during the pandemic 7 hotels are scheduled to close in this first phase of rehousing the homeless. The department of homelessness and Supportive Housing say that it will be transitioning people into how other housing options. But supervisor matt haney fears that many people will end up back on the streets. Theyre still far too many large encampments in south of market in parts of San Francisco, where when i tell the department of homeless says were still in in in a crisis here youve got to get these people inside we still need the hotels is placements and we need to make sure that people were in those hotels dont end up right back on the street. Well this rehousing process is going to take a few months the Homeless People who are living in at least 25 Hotels Across the city are expected to be rehoused by next june. Despite the debonair gracie displayed on film connerys routes were far more humble born in scotland in 1930. Connerys mother was a cleaning lady, his father, a truck driver after being medically discharged from the royal navy due to stomach ulcers calmly took a series of odd jobs ranging from milkman to cough and polisher to bodybuilder even finishing 3rd in the 1953 mister universe pageant. A friend got him into acting leading to small roles on stage and screen until he was chosen to play double o 7 in 1960 tues doctor, no man knows that ending their wales. Just like you on this island octavo connery were steadily for the next 4 decades starring in films for everyone from Alfred Hitchcock to Steven Spielberg despite often playing the hero. There is also said he enjoyed portraying thieves crooks and characters who had something up their sleeve attempt to get away with something has got itself. A real about it i suppose the fact that youre supposed to be punished one isnt us. Quite encouraging. And youre going to die of something connerys career peaked in 1988 with a best supporting oscar win for the untouchables junior. He followed that with a scene stealing role is harrison fords father in Indiana Jones and the last crusade. I was told that last for connery always defied his age he was named people. Magazines sexiest man alive at 59 and spent much of his 60s playing action heroes in films like entrapment and the rock i have a unique knowledge of no matter the genre connery infuse charm and wit in every role you check it already. It says is that even the law connery spent his later years racking up other honors to go with his oscar tony and 3 golden globes. He was given a Kennedy Center Lifetime Achievement award by president clinton any was knighted by Queen Elizabeth one year later. Despite the accolades connery was always hope and did you think at this point in your life keep adding to must say i have korea orientation some go with my own instinct terms of what i went through because i like to make i think. Were asking the question this morning should 17 year olds have the right to vote and thats the question behind prop 18 it would allow just that but theres a caveat as well, Christina Pascucci has more on that. Proposition 18 would give 17 year olds are right to vote in primaries and special elections if they are turning 18 by the general election. Secretary of state alex the dia says vote yes probably this 18 is not about lowering the voting age. Its simply about. Allowing any young voters who is eligible to vote in a general election to be able to have their voice heard in a primary election proposition a team. Would frankly just bring us some migrants but 18 other states already do hideous as its the energy of young people thats been the catalyst for change when fighting against Climate Change demanding gun control calling for social justice activism amongst young citizens throughout our nations history is been one of the most important forces and moving our nation forward and in california more than 600,000 youth under 18 have preregister to vote to huge indicator of there willingness their preparedness their eagerness to participate in the electoral process when they turn 18 those who oppose prop 18 say 17 yearold are not ready to make Big Decisions on ballot topics like taxes proposition 18 would let High School Students vote on tax increases in primaries and special elections and that could be the margin that raises taxes and maybe theyre not seeing all the information and maybe they dont remember how many times texas have already been raised for the same purpose, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association taxes are too high says vote no on prop 18 there are millions of registered voters in Los Angeles County taxes for a specific purpose, special purpose. Being able to run for office themselves for more information on the ballot measures visit cal matters dot org. Other news this morning, there was a riot overnight in portland after a march turned into looting and Property Damage. Police were able to quickly break things up in return to normal fairly soon. Police say though that some demonstrators were throwing things at officers and also were pepper spray in bystanders and they say at least one person was seen in the crowd carrying a rifle but there were no words of any shootings. Police made no arrests. This is the only damage that ive seen it didnt look we didnt see any damage on the side streets. So i i think theyre not busting up Residential Homes are the feeling that get a little rough for them. Well a similar scene played out last night in nearby vancouver washington as a second night of protests there in response to the Police Shooting death of Kevin Pietersen junior on thursday peterson was shot after showing a gun during an encounter with washington sheriffs deputies. And be a superstar lebron james is opening up about living in the nba bubble and why at one point he and his teammates were actually ready to leave in the wake of the jacob blake she killing now during the hbo special the shop uninterrupted james sat down. With former president barack obama and his friend maverick carter to talk about the nba bubble. James revealed that he seriously considered leaving that bubble after the Milwaukee Bucks boycotted the playoff game after the Police Shooting of jacob blake back in august. You start to think you know as basketball the most important thing right now is being inside this bubble away from you know was real was going on and society right now so i was proud of our players that we not only were playing a game of basketball. We was also having discussions every single day about whats going on in communities from Police Brutality to you know the racism is going on to voter suppression. James credits his decision to stay to former president barack obama who encouraged him to keep playing and use his platform to call for change if. Okay, we have a pretty good day on tap for us this sunday with temperatures pretty much into the 80s inland and also on the east bay shoreline break it down and check out your 4 zone forecast as well as that little hope for rain coming next weekend here. They all endorse yes on prop 25. To end unfair, unjust, discriminatory money bail. Governor gavin newsom and van jones. Theyre voting yes on 25. The western center on law and poverty. The Dolores Huerta foundation. Californians for safety and justice. And the California Democratic party. They all agree that the size of your wallet shouldnt determine whether or not youre in jail. So, vote yes on prop 25. We like fall around many parts of the bay area and were pretty happy about that definitely its almost 9. 45 here on this first day of november. We are hoping to just really enjoy some fall weather in the coming days, dave spahr standing by with a look at our what we well noel and mardy good morning and good morning, everybody we have a pretty good day on tap in much of the week in fact looks to be pretty good too things start to get interesting, however towards the end of the week because if youre waiting for some cooler weather some glove whether and so forth. We got that by next weekend we may see some rain showers also that we really need big time as well i would really try to look for that fog here in about the only spot i can find that is really Half Moon Bay. One of the other issues with this is its not really making it very far inland, but its not maxing out very much either because were not getting a lot of wind circulation either so the air is fairly still we get a little bit of a breeze happening in the afternoon driven by the daytime heating now on the big picture here obviously the High Pressure still overhead but sneaking in beneath that has some of that high cloudiness from a Southern California where the southwest. So pencil in that into the afternoon and basically mostly sunny well do it for today, nice warm temperatures youve been hearing about and that will pretty much be the balance of the week the only interference we see is one little weak system coming here by the middle of the week temperature check, 50s and 60s off to the east bay up to the north bay 62 for napa 52 55 santa rosa was 68 which is pretty impressive considering there were 39 just a couple hours ago. 55 going on for san jose so on those wide range models, heres little bump in the road to middle of the week may see some scattered clouds slightly cooler temperatures tuesday wednesday. And then towards the end of the week this is what gets interesting. Theres an opportunity and again it comes in 3 ways thats 2 and a free there and with that last wave you can see pulling down some much cooler air to is the shun changes for snow up in the higher elevations, so well get a little flavor of some later fall, almost maybe a flavor of early winter with that as well so a change of the seasons by the end of the week highs today in the 4 zone forecast 77 San Francisco, most coastal locations will be scratching into the 70s when you get to daly city 7572 pacifica bayside upper 70s to some lower 80s 84 south San Francisco burning game also at 80. Heading down a palo alto with 80 to 78 for mountain dew 82 Carlos Santa Clara valley, pretty much lower to middle 80s 88 for morgan hill, 85 west coast. East bay shoreline to the south at about 80 was 78 for union city and tri valley approaching the middle 80s 84 for walnut creek and also 84 for concord richmond checking in at 82. Showing how those winds are really checking into much until the Late Afternoon 78 for berkeley. Solano county lots of 80s to although 79 benicia 81 of 81 nap up 85 for santa rosa and heading down south with lower to middle 80s to are in or at the 7 day forecast. Tuesday, theres a scattered clouds i mention with the first of a weak front were hoping to maybe scratch a couple raindrops there. Then lets build with a chance of rain on friday. Look at the drop though from 80 to thursday dropping into the 60s for saturday, the bay responds accordingly as well as does the coast martin back to quite a week all right. Thank you dave.
