Visits to the respiratory urgent care center. Now at 10 wildfires continue to rage up and down the west coast leading to some of the worst air quality on the planet. Right now right here in the bay area, thank you for joining us at 10 oclock everybody im grant lotus and im Vicki Liviakis a thick blanket of smoke has been hovering over the bay area for days now making it. Hard to breathe unhealthy to be outside. This is what many people experienced today. And unfortunately that smoke is expected to linger right on through the weekend chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow joins us live as we went from orange on wednesday to gray worse today and the air quality really deteriorated as the week progressed, yeah, you know all that smoke from up above all the orange skies. That all makes down to the surface down thats where we sit we dont have a real way to get out of town unless were to get a storm. Good wind event to start to mix that out were not even seeing the heating that we normally see usually the difference in temperatures between the valleys and the coast generate a sea breeze but because of all the smoke is really kind of knocked that this afternoon we did notice some changes looking out toward walnut creek you can see all that smoke settling in there tonight and just kind of ugly to look everywhere you go along the coastline. A combination of smoke and some true fog were seeing some dense fog forming tonight. So if youre traveling along the coastal areas just inside the bay may be in oakland late tonight early tomorrow morning possibly dropping visibilities down a quarter of a mile or more on that in just a moment air quality though it is bad around the bay area, not as bad as it was early on this evening, but still you can see the entire bay covered in red here that is a very poor air quality showing up outside right now the worst air quality in the bay area was in and around the bay today as we just did not see the mixing in the atmosphere usually its in the interior valleys now tomorrow. Were looking extremely unhealthy air sadly again overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning places in the San Francisco all the way down to Half Moon Bay to san mateo across the bay in oakland and richmond in el serino as you make your way up to napa guerneville thats looking pretty bad early on tomorrow morning up by the afternoon again well see a little bit of a sea breeze not much. But we should begin to mix out some of the pollutants in the atmosphere but weve got a long way to go look at this weve got smoke located all along the california coastline. This fall with the smoke that rolled all the way up in toward oregon and washington. And so even with the sea breeze youve got to get through the smoke thats sitting off the coastline. Some of that is actually blowing back on shore. So tonight, weve got the sea breeze that has kicked in but just a week when thats not much so that 4 Miles Per Hour. That is next to nothing in pacifica 8 Miles Per Hour in the San Francisco only 3 in oakland for an up and all 3 in 3 into conquered, thats not enough wind really generate things to really move this out of town. Now heres the latest forecast on some of the winds as we take through the night tonight, those winds will actually calm down thats pretty typical thats why we have some very poor air quality early on tomorrow morning by tomorrow afternoon, the winds do pick up a little bit but not much very similar to today, so we may see a couple of peeks of the sunshine but not much improvement in the air quality i think a little better as we get into sunday afternoon. Youll notice, the winds begin to pick up all around the bay area by sunday afternoon that may be the best chance to see a little more fresh air rolling into the bay area over the weekend. Lets hope so thank you lawrence, we know one of the People Killed in the north complex west zone fire. You know dealing with the big missions from people governor Gavin Newsome addressing the need to speed up environmental goals friday after touring the devastation in butte county where the north complex fire is threatening the burn scars of the deadly camp fire of 2018 this is a climate dam emergency. I dont of any folks out there tonight we do have the smoke. That settled in tonight once again thick smoke has been just the issue last few days here looking for walnut creek. And certainly theyre seeing a lot of smoke out there tonight now things are going not improve much tomorrow, especially early in the morning. Overnight tonight, those winds will calm down that smoke will really settle in very very unhealthy are expected in the pacifica San Francisco down the san mateo across the bay in the Oakland Alameda richmond further to the north of napa all the way up to guerneville so a very unhealthy air and poor air quality everywhere else around the bay area by tomorrow afternoon going to start to see a little mixing of the atmosphere little breeze going develop and then the air quality should begin to improve outside right now youre talking 6 miles an hour out of the west in San Francisco. Thats just not going to be enough to make the smoke 3 miles an hour and a hayward 3 in the panel. The idea its not enough to really mix out all the smoke that has gathered over the past few days. Now as we head through the night tonight were going to see the low clouds and dense fog developing along the california coastline along with that smoke that will be in place as we head toward the afternoon, the least along the coastal areas slow to burn off to the smoke up above is actually given the sun from getting through that means just cant mix that out temperatures in the San Francisco plan on some 60s 50s and 60s near the coastline with that haze and the fog 70 degrees in millbrae 75 degrees in 80 in mount view youll see 80s in the south bay much of the east bay, those temperatures popping back up in the 80 so not bad weather, but that smoke certainly a concern thats going start to fade away. I think ever so hes led by sunday or so and then the middle of next week a response to the storm coming. Bigger is massive, folks. Its parked itself over the entire county. Expect rain and high winds over the next 24 hours. Meteorologist 2 gusts of up to 80 mph have downed trees and power lines. Dispatcher dispatch confirming a csi unit has arrived at the trailer park where we have a report of a dead body. Over. loud knocking mdpd. Hello . Ill check the hall. thunder rumbling clear
