The fire has grown slightly to 375,000 acres but that 74 containment there nearly 3 quarters of the way there. The scu complex fires burning in the east and south bays 72 contained so again. Major progress on that front and the czu complex fires almost halfway contained its at 45 right now with 85,000 plus acres have burned so far. Now in the south bay, San Jose Police are looking for thieves who stole a truck from a family who escaped the czu complex fires there in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The family was staying at a Doubletree Hotel in san jose. When the truck that they had was stolen early friday morning, it was loaded with a motorcycle and thousands of dollars worth of work tools and a whole lot more basically everything they could grab from the house before they left. Now the family use that truck to help other family and friends evacuate as well and obviously theyre just theyre upset by this whole thing. To be grateful. Dozen others i know probably at least 20 people personally who lost their homes and everything so but i know it is frustrating and sucks because i mean ive been working since i was about 8 years old a on the summer times and stopped and its a. Some survey the fire damage at Big Basin Redwoods State Park yesterday, the park is considered the oldest california state park. The czu complex fires tore through destroying historic buildings. And causing Severe Damage to the big old growth trees, cal fire Officials Say its been more than 500 years. Since theyve had this much damage in the park yet still the governor declared an optimistic outlook. We come and go. These trees see around me sum it up there. 1314 1500 years been alive for 14 1500 years. They have scars that make this fire look modest in comparison. And yet theyre still standing. Its a testament to mother natures resiliency its testament to our resiliency. Park Officials Say visitors will not be allowed for at least a year because there are lots of hazards and damage they have to take care of. As the firefighters gained more control we are seeing more damage left behind many residents in the santa cruz got to see what was left here is video of Downtown Boulder creek. This is where people are still under evacuation orders and as you look towards big basin state park. Its clear. The devastation thats going to have to be cleaned up. Before they can lift doors, you can see all of the charred vehicles and homes that were burned down and this path of devastation actually begins a mile or 2 out of town where homes are burned to the ground. Damage assessment teams are in there you can see how theyre marking those trees. Thousands of those trees are going to have to come down to make the area safe again. Well were also learning more about the 3 napa county residents who were killed in the lnu complex fire. Investigators say the 3 people live together. In a house on highway one 28 that wildfire destroyed the home back on august 18th and the county Coroners Office has identified the victims now a 70 yearold Mary Catherine him to meyer 71 yearold Leo Thomas Mcdermott and his 4 yearold son. Thomas. As firefighters continue to gain control of the fires in the Santa Cruz MountainsUtility Companies are also beginning to make some progress at least in restoring services and this of course welcome news to especially the folks out in boulder creek. You can see here a new temporary water tech couple of them actually arrived in an effort to restore Water Service there to the mountain communities. These are crews from the san lorenzo Water District which serves about 8,000 customers. Those tanks are expected to be an operating next week. Some customers though of big basin water may have to wait a little bit longer for service there to be restored their filtration system was destroyed by the fire. But were also having some nicer air quality in other spots, Mountain View, san Mateo Fremont hayward all looking at less than ideal conditions as far as the air goes areas like the east bay north end of the peninsula and especially further north in the north bay, all looking at some much improved conditions and we will take that as we make our way through this forecast were going to remain dry. We actually do have a pretty big pattern shift in the days to come this High Pressure ridge thats building over the region is going to keep things rather hazy in the midst of this we have seen a nice on shore flow which has brought ocean cool there to our inland areas and were going to keep that around today tomorrow into friday, your 3 most comfortable days. After this that completely reverses and hot and dry air from our inland valleys now gets thrust all the way up to the coast. This means daytime highs are going to skyrocket the difference from friday and saturday its going to be really noticeable in the meantime enjoy or cool weather.
