>>dry conditions for today and tomorrow so that is the good news and yes that definitely help on the roads this morning and tomorrow as you wrap up your work week out the door right now our sutro tower camera overlooking a nice clear shot of the golden gate bridge. and so we're fog free so far and yes, rain free for now as you can see all of the activity to the far north of us getting into oregon parts of seattle in washington. we're going to see it's a remain that way until we get into the weekend. that's when we're going to see some of that rain touchdown on saturday and sunday so just make sure that you do have the umbrellas on hand or just stay indoors for the weekend ahead. definitely cooler this morning so bundle up for temperatures are in the 40's even low 50's like in oakland, the 44 in concord right now 44 in livermore but we're going to see some 60's on the board into the afternoon. i'll have those details coming up in just a bit for now, let's say handed over to robin and see how the roads are doing all right. thank you rebecca long line at the bay bridge toll plaza i told you it was getting heavier heading in on 80 wesson is really stacked up on the left on the ride. >>it's really all the way back beyond 8.80 shortly, it's going to be out to west grand. so you know how it goes a very busy trip into san francisco here on westbound 80 but at least we don't have any major problems or issues that you have to worry about so only 10 minutes off to fremont street if you're traveling through burlingame this morning keep in mind. there's an accident working that involve some police activity. it's right along peninsula avenue at one on one. so this is impacting the on and the off-ramp some major injury crash that may have started off as a high speed chase still waiting to confirm that, but it's really an area that you should avoid it is not having an impact on traffic on the freeway but mainly along peninsula avenue so that trip from the peninsula to san francisco looks good and so does 2.80 from daly city to downtown san francisco will check more coming up chains. thank you robin to our local first story to south bay schools are expected to close at the end of the year the superintendent of the evergreen school district in san jose made that difficult. >>announcement last night with kron 4 sarah stinson live at dove hill elementary school with schools is what they're used to but the superintendent says no matter what their kids will be placed in another school will feel safe to feel comfortable and they will be place in the school but a big decision for that superintendent here and me a school district to this is all because of budget deficit shortfalls and declining student enrollment, this is all according to the school us or the district superintendent doctor any flores who is tasked with making that decision of of the schools though the shutting down and shutting their doors at the end of the year that decision will be next month last night, it those in the names of the 2 schools were announced at a public meeting and it was definitely an emotional night for parents who are worried about their child their children's school. >>wondering if it will in fact close and doctor flores says additional school need to shut down at the end of the year, but a vote on that will also need to take place much much later all this is because of a million budget deficit shortfall and that over the past 5 years the district has lost 2,500 students and expects to lose another 1500 students over the next few years because of the growth and silicon valley, let's take a listen to the superintendent doctor flores explain more about this the intense and inside situation. districts across the bay area are facing the same challenges and while dog the valley is very attractive to. >>the tech industry has really pushed prices of homes prices of rent way up and push many of our families out we will make sure that our students land at a school where they can feel safe that to feel welcome the cafe love this part of a family. >>in that's a probably comforting for parents to hear, but it's still very nerve wracking to hear that your student school dove hill and laurel wood elementary schools are at risk of shutting their to their doors down and closing their doors forever. but we will hopefully you catching up with the superintendent this morning at this elementary schools, asking a little bit more questions and also checking in with parents see how they're feeling during this time of this confusion >>just we're following now day 3 of the senate impeachment trial against president trump gets underway at 10 o'clock our time opening statements rapped up in the senate chamber late last night 7 impeachment managers details the house's case that led to the 2 articles of impeachment one for abuse of power and the other for obstruction. democrats hammered the importance of allowing witnesses an additional documents in the case. they'll need to sway for republican senators to break from their party though for those witnesses and documents to be allowed. yeah and democratic. >>impeachment managers will resume detailing their case today, they'll be focusing on the constitution and the legal grounds for his removal talking about the president and we have our washington dc correspondent alexandra moen live this morning to talk more about that and what we expect going forward. hey good morning, alex. >>hey good morning james and it was actually bay area congressman adam schiff shift the lead impeachment manager who got things started yesterday and he opened with this kind of grand opening argument talking a lot about the founding fathers and the framing of the constitution. he was trying to convince us senators that if they don't take the step of removing president trump from office it could have irreversible consequences and perhaps change the office of the presidency for ever and the powers that congress is supposed to have of checks and balances the house managers talking great depth and detail about the to specific articles our drafted against president trump on abuse of power for example they talk about how president trump abused the power that is unique to a president of the united states and said that he tried to extort ukraine and try to get that country to meddle in the upcoming presidential election in a way that would be beneficial to president trump and then congressman jason crow from colorado, he's a freshman, he's also an army veteran he talked about how the president's actions endangered national security again for the president's personal and political gain so they were kind of trying to build toward this big picture argument that these are specifically the types of high crimes and misdemeanors that the framers of the constitution had in mind when they gave congress the power to impeach a president. >>it's been interesting watching some of the coverage you know reporters that are in the gallery looking down and some reported they were seeing senators doing crossword puzzles a lot of of those on the republican side just been interested in the argument that we're hearing but i guess democrats really are pointing their arguments at just 4 senators 84 moderate, republican senators to come along with them and give you have have you heard if there's any movement on that front. >>well they need for republican senators to agree to calling additional witnesses and documents but when it comes to actually removing the president from office they actually need a 2 thirds vote in the senate. so that's going to be pretty tough now. we also did hear from democrats and lawmakers in kind of press conferences are just off to the side talking to reporters and one of the interesting things they said is that they think they're arguing this case to 2 sets of the jurors first though senators us 100 senators who are in the gallery listening who will be voting on the removal of the president but then number 2 the second set of jurors is the public the american people who will be voting in the upcoming elections and they feel that this all could impact not just the presidential race, but maybe some of the races that these senators are running interesting point aren't alex. thank you so much a lot of long hours ahead for senators. >>and for journalists hope will be checking with you again thank you again. all right and don't forget to follow along with the very latest on the impeachment trial will be carrying a
